  1. You can do a search on the forums - there are quite a few threads already with usernames & such. I'm mygastricsleevelife there.
  2. I'm doing mine once a week, but I know a lot of people do them once a month. Just do what you're comfortable with.
  3. I really think it depends on the person. I just wrote about this on my blog last night. I had my surgery on Monday and I know things might change, but for right now I feel like this was an automatic cure for my food addiction. I look at food completely different now. It's truly amazing to me. Maybe it's just the "honeymoon phase" after surgery, but I sure hope it's not. Maybe I'm the minority, but I'm so happy food is no longer controlling me now!!!
  4. I tried some before surgery & didn't like the aftertaste, but for that price maybe I could deal with the aftertaste! That is a great price if it's nationwide.
  5. Everyone is different for sure. I had my surgery on Monday too & I'm feeling great. I'm still in no way ready to go out and tackle errands or anything like that, but I'm feeling much better than I thought I would be at this point. It takes me all day, but I'm getting in my Protein. I had 53 grams yesterday & will probably hit the goal of 70 grams today or tomorrow. Each day out from surgery gets better & I'm off my diabetes meds already & my blood sugars are great! This is the best thing I've ever done for myself!! Everyone is different & you just have to give your body time to heal & listen to it, but be confident that eventually you'll get all your energy back plus more as you lose more weight! Just relax & give it time.
  6. GNC sells the clear Isopure liquid that is already made & also sell Isopure powder. I haven't tried the powder yet though so I don't know what it's like. If you look for something at Walmart, make sure you look for whey isolate because it absorbs better in your body than whey concentrate.
  7. MG - we're sleeve sisters! I was sleeved on Monday too! I'm doing much better than I thought I would at this point. I'm on clear liquids for 2 weeks & then "full liquids" for weeks 3-6, puréed/soft for weeks 7-12, then "small bites" of regular food as of week 13.
  8. I was just sleeved on Monday, so I don't have issues yet - but what about sleeping with a body pillow to help your knees? I've slept on my side almost my whole life - even when I was thin before - but I love my body pillow now.
  9. Maybe I did something wrong w/ them, but they didn't mix well for me.
  10. I just had my surgery on Monday, 5/14. I'm feeling great so far. My tummy muscles are sore from getting in and out of a flat bed instead of the hospital bed, but other than that I'm doing good and feel much better than I thought I would at this point. Feel free to follow my blog directly (listed in my signature) or through FB - https://www.facebook.com/MyGastricSleeveLife if y'all want to follow my journey.
  11. One of the side effects of sleeve surgery is that many people become lactose intolerant. My Bariatric Coordinator suggested Mootopia or other lactose free milk from here on out after my surgery (once I'm on full liquids).
  12. I'd call today. I was self-pay so I didn't have to wait for insurance stuff, but I was just sleeved on Monday, which was less than a month after my initial consultation.
  13. I've tried some different samples & the best ones so far are Chike and Unjury that mix well with water. Other ones I've tried stay clumpy even with a shaker cup and ball.
  14. I just sent you a friend request & message on FB - Michelle Hodge Also, I have a FB page for my blog if anyone wants to follow that on FB too - https://www.facebook.com/MyGastricSleeveLife
  15. Good luck with everything!! My surgery was Monday. I'm feeling much better than I thought I would. I hope your surgery goes well too!
  16. my doc gives the same rules as Benisa's - no NSAIDs. Any Tylenol product is okay. Mine did say I could have an occasional ibuprofen after the first 3 months if necessary, but the general rule is no NSAIDs. I'd suggest calling your surgeon to see what they say about it. My surgeon also said there are some NSAIDs that aren't quite as harmful to the stomach as ibuprofen that could be prescribed depending on the issue. You really need to see what your doctor says is okay at this stage in your recovery.
  17. My pre-op was only 650 calories. I did mostly shakes. They surprisingly kept me full for the most part. Just try to stick to the plan!
  18. We're "sleeve sisters" - My surgery was Monday also. Surprisingly, I haven't had as much pain as I thought I would. I kept having problems urinating by myself though, so they had to put a Foley catheter back in once and also do an in-and-out straight catheter once. My surgeon prescribed one dose of Flomax to help relax my bladder muscles & I was able to just trickle a little. I really didn't want to stay another night because of cost since I'm self-pay and also since I was really feeling good otherwise. He said it was okay if I left, so I came home around midnight last night. Luckily, I haven't had any trouble urinating since arriving home. My stomach hurts some, but it's more the sore muscles especially after having to get in and out of our flat bed versus a hospital bed. Sorry you had to deal with nausea & pain, but I'm glad you're feeling better now.
  19. the posts I've read about it is due to the surgical gas moving around inside you. I had surgery on Monday & haven't had any pain in my shoulder at all yet.
  20. I just had surgery on Monday & am doing better than I thought I would now. I'd join a FB group of one is started. I also have a FB page for my blog if anyone wants to follow me there - http://www.facebook.com/MyGastricSleeveLife
  21. Mine was just under a month, but I'm self pay so I didn't have to wait for insurance authorization.
  22. Congrats!! I just had surgery on Monday. I was self pay though.
  23. There are so many things that come into play when losing, it's really important not to compare yourself to others & just trust that if you stick to your plan you'll be successful!
  24. Good luck!! I just had my surgery on Monday.
  25. I just had surgery on Monday and I can already tell its the best thing I have ever done for myself! If I could've controlled my portions and lost weight & kept it off, I wouldn't have done this. However, I couldn't so I had the surgery done. I know there is still a long road ahead for me, but I'm looking at this as my portion control tool and I'm excited for the road ahead of me. That being said, this is not the route for everyone! You need to research it and think about it and talk to people about it & pray about it (if you're religious) and then decide what is best for you.
