I find myself being hyper critical of everyones eating now, but I was critical before. I'd see a skinny person stuff their face with blatantly unhealthy food and think "God, if I ate like that I'd be twice the size I am now!"
I went to Animal Kingdom a few weeks ago and as I was waiting with my son for my friend to get off a ride I saw an obese mother with three obviously unhealthy children. She had 2 McDonalds bags of food she was feeding them, and when the babies finished their burgers (the eldest ate TWO) she gave them oreo Cookies... I wanted to grab the food out of their hands and hand them some of my carrot sticks!

I am a drinker - not everyday - but I enjoy wine, beer and vodka (separately) on social ocasions. I am six weeks out. I tried red wine - it tasted heavy - white wine - tasted bitter - opted for a vodka on the rocks with lemon. I sipped it all night long; with drinks of water; did not get wasted or buzzed - but sat at the bar with the drink and relaxed.
The sleeve was my choice because it allowed me to live my life well - by cutting down and not out. Not out to be skinny - just healthy

I have been having a hard time staying warm, anyone else?
I'm happy with my progress, but haven't dropped as much weight as some. I am surprised by how cold I am. At night I am sleeping in thermal pajamas, and a thick zip up jacket, socks, two blankets, and a heating pad for feet. We keep the house at 66 - 68 degrees at night.
Also, my blood pressure is kind of low, usually around 100/70 or so but that is not really unusual for me. I had really good blood pressure before surgery.
Does the feeling cold go away as I adjust? Brrrrr!

I agree with everyone else... Your sleeve isn't ready.for so much starch. Protein first, veggies/fruit next, and if there's any room left a little bit of something else.
So, this may be a silly question but, pastas and potatoes and chips other similarly unhealthy foods are what got most of us into the positions we're in, so why after we've all been given an amazing opportunity and a 2nd chance to have a different type of life, would you go back to the things that got you here in the first place? I realize it's hard, we all realize it's hard, and we're all going through the same thing, but we all just underwent MAJOR surgery because we were tired of being unhealthy and overweight and everything else that goes along being that way. We have all made conscious decisions to change our lives and our lifestyles to facilitate change. Your sleeve is a tool, not a cure, and if you aren't using your tool wisely you may as well have not even gotten it.
We're all here for you, rooting for you and cheering you on, giving answers to questions you may think are silly, so please, use us! We want you to be successful! If nothing else we all have at least one thing in common, our sleeves, and that makes us like a brotherhood.
Hang in there friend, we're here for you!

My recommendation is to buy an item, try it and if your sleeve likes it then your good. After surgery I went and bought a lot of items that I had to return. I can no longer tolerate many things such as Protein drinks, yogurt or natural applesauce which I consider to be all to sweet. Everything has completely changed taste wise since preop. My focus everyday is fluids and then Protein.< /p>
So, to answer your question preop was Protein Drinks, sugar free popsicles, and broth and fresh vegs. Post op, sugar free choc milk, light cheese, bean Soup, refried Beans, eggbeaters and baby food vegs.

Lilee84 got a reaction from lookingahead in 3 Weeks Post Op Nsv! - A Couple Pics
My BFF and I, along with her beau, took our kids to Animal Kingdom today. The weather was absolutely gorgeous! The boys had a great time, and just for giggles I wore my pedometer. 12 freaking miles! Holy crap! And the passes we bought were 3 day passes so we get to do this two more times, without the kids though - having both the boys and them being so young was just too much to handle.
So, here's a couple of pics. The self portrait is literally the night before getting sleeved. Oh, and the pants I'm wearing today are 18's, down from 24! Woohoo!

Today has been full of wins for Steve the sleeve and I!
Win #1 - I decided to treat myself to a birthday coffee - win! Other than the fact that I order fat free sugar free and it was whole milk and tons of sugar (I only drank about 4 sips) it didn't bother my sleeve! Winning!
Win #2 - I've been having serious trouble getting my Protein and fluids in - it's no secret to anyone that has read any of my posts. So, imagine my surprise when I FINISHED my entire Atkins Protein Bar for Breakfast, then a couple hours later my entire 11oz Atkins Protein shake , and then for lunch I ate two fat free cheese sticks and 2oz of the same turkey that made me vomit last night.
Win #3 - I've got my Protein in for the day, and I've got about 40oz of my fluids in WITHOUT nausea! I know it doesn't sound like much, but any of you who know how much I've been struggling with all of this will understand... It's the little things!
*does a happy dance while singing* Happy Birthday to me! I think I'll treat myself to a SF popsicle when I get home

Thanks ladies! I called my surgeon and they didn't seem too concerned so maybe I'm overthinking things... Either way I know I'm severely dehydrated so I'm gonna marry my 1 liter of aquafina and make it my goal to finish it by dinner time, and then refill it and finish it before bedtime.

Why is it when you see the potato chip commercials or the ice cream commercials or the fast food commercials they always cast skinny people in those roles? Skinny people don't eat that crap! And people who do eat that crap don't stay skinny for long!
This is right up there on my list of pet peeves, along with the increasingly depressing selection in the plus size section.

Jellyfish, may I suggest you simply ignore the comments you don't agree with and simply focus on the responses that answer your question in the manner you were expecting? I think it's great that you modified your last post from it's original form, but I think this conversation is getting a little too emotional to be productive.

Yep. It's those hormones a raging. Once you lose weight, they start flowing the way they're supposed to. Every time I start losing, I chase my hubby around the house like a crazy woman. I can't wait for that to kick in again!!

I have not been sleeved yet, but tonight as I was eating my dinner i was thinking... "MMMMM this _________ is so good." "OMG, if I get this done will I not be able to enjoy this ________ ever again?" "Maybe I can just eat this part of it, and be ok." "Wait, maybe my new stomach will reject it and my tasebuds will freak out." (I tend to eat very acidic foods which is not good for me). Then, the reality for me sets in: If I die of high bp complications or diabetes, I won't get to eat ________ either! Or be there for my husband, or be there for my stepsons... Would I give up the next 40 years of eating _______ and drinking DP to have a biological child before my time expires? YES! I am 40.5 years old and 100 lbs overweight. My uterus "best if used by" date is quickly approaching. All this stuff I am addicted to and enjoy, is that which is slowly killing me!!! I feel the drastic change I am deciding to make is better then the drastic consequences of not getting my bp/pre-diabetes/cholesterol under control after 20 years of failing at every diet and putting the weight right back on. "Food" has been the "friend" that has slowly but surely been killing me for the last 20 years and I am ready to put it in it's place. Which is NOT in my ARTERIES or on my a$$. SO although I can not speak from the sleeved side, I can speak from the side of carbs/lasagna = DEATH for me. I am trying to get my thought process changed before "divorce court" and begin my separtion now.

I think that all the advice you've been given here is great, but here's another thought:
Your body, your problem. Her body, her problem. If she is making the conscious choice not to do her Vitamins, that's HER choice. I imagine her surgeon has most likely warned her of the risks of not doing so, and if she is making the choice to not take them anyway, it's HER PROBLEM. She's a grown up, she can do an internet search to find information about it if she wants to. If she doesn't want to.... guess what? That's between her and her physician. Not you.
