Nance got a reaction from kgb in 2 Weeks Without Any Weight Loss
I'm having the same problem. Lost 18 lbs the first week then it stopped. I asked my doc at my follow up appt. and he said that is completely normal. He said now that I'm starting to a little more regularly, the weight will start coming off. I guess he was right because this morning I woke up to a 1 lb loss! Hang in there, hopefully you'll notice it soon.

Nance got a reaction from rebecca b in How Many Incisions Did You Get?
I have 2. 1 through the belly button and 1 for the drain on my left side. The belly button one is still tender (I'm 6 days out) but not unbearable. The other one never hurt at all. My surgeon was so cute and said he did it through my belly button so I could wear my bikini this summer. I just laughed!

    Hi everyone!
My name is Nancy. I am 40 years old. BMI is 30. I am 5'6" and weigh 218 (well, before my pre-op diet). Now I am at 213. I thought for sure I'd lose more than that especially since I was totally faithful to the liquid diet. I hope I have better results after the procedure, which is TOMORROW!
I am a bit nervous, which is the whole reason I wound up here. I was seeing if anyone had any regrets. I'm having the "what the hell are you doing?" talk with myself right now. I know in the end I will be happier and healthier. It's last minute jitters Surgery is scheduled for 8:00 am. I am 2nd one of the day.
I just wanted to drop in and say hello and introduce myself because I know I'll be back in here soon!

Sounds like you are on the road to recovery. Try your best to get those fluids down, not wanting to scare you but I had problems with dehydration myself. Sip sip sip, chew chew chew. You can do it and welcome. =)

Nance reacted to Go Kart Mozart in Alcohol!?
I avoided alcohol for about 6 weeks post surgery, but have drank like I did pre-op ever since. I'm a bit of a drinker (and don't apologize for it), and despite drinking I'm basically at goal. I will say that it took a while to get back to my old tolerance, but once I got past six months or so it wasn't an issue. I'm glad for those who don't drink, but moralizing teetotalers need not try to sway me.

I've found the question of alcohol consumption and vsg posed before on here, but most of the responses were lectures on empty calories or "I don't even like alcohol since the sleeve"- good for you! But I'm not interested in hearing from non-drinkers or about the empty calories. I have dinner with my European family every week, and wine is a huge part of it.
Can your stomach tolerate alcohol on the sleeve? Is it painful? When in your journey (how many weeks) were you ok to have alcohol?
I have no intention of abusing alcohol, but I would like to have a glass of red wine with my dinner once or twice a week, and occasionally have a vodka martini when I'm out. I do not enjoy sweets or soda, alcohol is my only empty calorie thing I want to enjoy.
I don't mean to sound hostile about people that proudly have not had a drop of alcohol since VSG, I think it's great to abstain from something that can become easily unhealthy. However, I want to have some answers about alcohol and VSG!

Hi Nance, and welcome, we are excited to have you here with us. What you are feeling is 100% natural, I think we all had that moment of panic just before our surgery. We kind of go into mourning, thinking we will never be able to eat the things we love again, we worry about possible side effects and every other scary thought that goes through our minds before any type of surgery. But you know what, it will be okay. You will do great and you will be thrilled with the results. You will still be able to treat yourself to your favorite foods, you will be healthier and feel so amazing that you will never regret having this surgery.

    Congratulations Nancy!!
I am contemplating VSG. This entire site dedicated to any WLS really, has been enormously helpful to me.
Just breathe...When you're feeling up to it after surgery, let us know how you're doing.
I would love to hear all about it!!.
There are a number of us that meet in VSG Chatroom between 7-10pm depending on any time zone differences.
Come on in...Would love to see you join us...
I'll be praying for you tonight..
    Good luck in the AM..

    Nancy,
I had my sleeve on 11-2-11 and have had no regrets. I started at 203 and am at 168.5! I lost ten on my pre-op full liquid since I was so hypertensive. I no longer have sleep apnea and am off my cholesterol meds! I have not had any trouble eating any and all types of food. I will caution you to eat SLOW!! I have had a few episodes where I ate to quick and had intense pressure in my chest that felt like the food was stuck. It went away in about twenty min but it was scary. You will love it! Good Luck and let me know how it goes. Lorrie
