  1. @@Tammylb - same thing I saw, except thin sliced ham. Thanks for the recipe!
  2. @@blondebomb - Thanks so much for your input!
  3. I'm only out a couple of weeks, but I just had a thought. I'm from south Louisiana, where the majority of the food is spicy. My favorite food is hot, spicy crawfish!!! How on earth do you eat spicy food and NOT drink??? Oh, I'm soooo screwed!!!
  4. Don't get me wrong! I like the taste of the shakes, they just make me sick to my stomach, etc. ALL of them!!!
  5. @@yogachick - So how'd it go??? Been checking in everyday!
  6. I am a revised lap-band. I've learned a couple of lessons, being banded first! I was sleeved on Feb. 3rd. This time around, when at a restaurant, I will NOT continue to eat until I'm not able to do anything but vomit. And I will NOT drink while I'm eating. I've decided that when the time comes to go to a restaurant, when I order my food, and no drink, I will also ask for a to-go box. When my food and my box arrive, I will leave the appropriate amount of food on my plate and the rest will go into the box, not to be seen again until the following day. I've never had a problem with leftovers. My son, who was sleeved 3 years ago, and his wife, still split an entre. He can only eat about 8oz and unless you're eating French, there's plenty on your plate to share! When I was banded, sometimes I would go the appetizer route. Usually Protein, but stay away from the fried stuff! NOT a good choice!!! Well, feel free to make other eating out suggestions! Good luck to everyone!!!
  7. @@greatestnameever - My son is three years out and flies at least 6 times a year. His surgeon is the same as mine & hasn't said a thing! Sounds kinda funny to me!
  8. Someone on here said that their NUT suggested those little ham/cream cheese/tortilla roll up things. You know what I mean! Some grocery stores delis carry them or you can make them yourself. Wait, I googled it. They're called ham pinwheels! This just sounds delicious to me!
  9. Just don't forget that alcohol turns to sugar!
  10. I was sleeved on the 3rd and I'm down 17 lbs. I feel great, but Protein shakes/powders are not my friend! UGH!!! I hate even thinking about them! I drink them, but not without poor Sleevie Plunder objecting viscously!!! Taste buds have changed a bit! I loved coffee before. Now it's all I can do to get a cup in the morning! I know a lot of people have this problem...tastes changing!!! Weird!!! Good luck to everyone!!
  11. @@proudgrammy - I have NO problem with anything except protein!
  12. @@graceday32001 - I'm with you on that. In fact I just posted the same topic. LOL. Protein makes me nauseated, unsteady on my feet, sweaty, and my stomach sounds as if its under attack! I can't function like a normal human being after I ingest it! Last night I started drinking it before I went to bed. I was still nauseated, sweaty and the noises my poor Sleevie Plunder was making about drove me insane! But it's better than being completely dysfunctional for 2 hours! Hopefully, we'll get some good suggestions here, or on mine! Good luck to you!!!
  13. I don't know your circumstances, but I read in my literature that sleeve patients are more prone to kidney stones. I would get it checked out, either way! Good to you!
  14. I searched to find this topic but the ones I found were years old, so I started a new one! Hope that's ok? I am 2 1/2 weeks out and every time I drink a Protein shake, I get nauseated, weak, unsteady & exhausted! I can't even function for a couple of hours after I drink them. I've tried different protein powders (which I dilute with Water, not milk) and several premixed Protein drinks. They all make me feel horrible. I tried drinking it right before bed last night, but the nausea and sweating still kept me up a while. My stomach was growling so loudly I thought I would wake my husband up! REALLY!!! I don't have problems with anything else! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  15. @@GeminiSleever - Glad I could help and thanks!
  16. @@applegal79 - I took Tylenol Severe Cold before and after surgery.
  17. Body fat is a great insulator!
  18. @@TheWigster - At six months out, you should be eating more that just tuna & chicken salad. I'd get tired of crawfish (my favorite food) if I ate it EVERYDAY!!! You should be eating, pretty much, anything you want, within reason. Fried, greasy foods should not be on your radar, of course, but healthy, lean meat, maybe just a few bites, would be an excellent choice. Crackers are NOT a good choice. They will swell in your stomach and you won't able to eat nutritional foods. You just need to make more healthy choices. Good luck to you!!!
  19. It's too soon for scar tissue, unless you've had surgery in that particular place in the past.
  20. @@GeminiSleever - I have one right above my umbilicus. It's fairly large...about the size of a silver dollar. When I went for my 1 week post-op, the NP told me it was a hematoma (pooling of blood) beneath the surface. I'm a nurse and that makes sense. She said it will eventually go away!
  21. @@Jazmundo - OMG, I'm so sorry you're having problems!!! Keep us informed!
  22. I am a revised lap-bander and I did extremely well with the it until I started having issues with the band itself. I was sleeved 2 weeks ago & I've already planned, when I am able to eat out, I will order my food & a to-go container at the same time. I will leave an appropriate amount of food on my plate and put the rest in the to-go box. This way I won't be tempted to overeat. I realize that sometimes just one bite can throw you over the edge, but that's usually due to not chewing enough. Good luck to you on the journey!!!
  23. I like the Gas-X strips that dissolve on the tongue!
  24. @@yogachick - I actually thought this was a topic I started 2+ weeks ago. A couple of days before surgery I started getting sick; sore throat, headache, swollen glands, even fever! By surgery day, I was "sick as a dog"!!! I was so anxious about surgery that I decided to go & take my chances. In pre-op they took my vitals and no fever. I did tell the nurse that I was having sinus issues, probably from allergies, which I do have. She listened to my lungs, which were clear and she since I didn't have a fever & my lungs were clear, I should be fine but she would inform my doctor. Obviously, he didn't have a problem with it!!! I did have some fever after surgery, but all-in-all, I did well. A lot of coughing, so make sure you use your incentive spirometer after surgery to get your lungs moving, and walk, walk, walk. Good luck to you!!!
  25. I'm 2 weeks out and I'll be 59 next week...
