  1. @@heav85 - My son was 288 lbs and only 5' 7" when my daughter-in-law married him. She is tiny at around 120-125. He had his sleeve 3 years ago and is now holding at 180. They are more in love than ever...they can now do more things together; ride bikes, walk, etc...They are extremely happy. I'm not saying that everyone is like this. It sounds like your husband has some insecurity issues...trust, jealousy. Good luck.
  2. Seems like most of the low BMI'ers are either old bands or self pay. I was banded in 2002 and went from 220-147, till band started having issues. After 4 surgeries to repair the band, my doc said NO MORE!!! That was in 2011, and 40 lbs ago!!! This time I started at 180 with a BMI of 32. I was sleeved 2 weeks ago today and am down 15 lbs. A lot of us have very similar stories, although my age is a bit higher! LOL Good luck to everyone!!!
  3. Our schools close with the "possibility" of snow! That whole paragraph was just funny to me. It was 80 here today!!! Hahahaha
  4. That's a crazy long time, but congrats on the 55 lbs!!! I was on clear liquid the day before surgery & NPO after midnight! All these doctors are so different, but I'm soooo glad mine does the abbreviated version!!! Drink Protein shakes for your protein. I use GNC Total Lean & Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Rocky Road, which I order on Amazon. I get vanilla Bean from GNC & add different flavors: instant coffee, Sweetleaf flavors, etc. I usually get around 48mg/day with the shakes. Good luck to you!
  5. I'm from Monroe! Been gone 25+ years, though.
  6. I hope you have checked this out. Hiatal Hernia is a distinct possibly! I have had scar tissue and hiatal hernias, and the only time my adhesions hurt was when I sneezed!!! It felt like someone was stabbing me with a hot ice pick. On the other hand, my hernias never hurt; never knew I had them. Keep us informed!!!
  7. That can't be good!!! How are you not dehydrated???
  8. Geez, that's scary! Hope you're doing better!
  9. Never fear!!! I, actually, ate everything I wanted last week, except crawfish, before surgery, and only gained 2 lbs. It was sooo worth it, but I sure wish I had thought about crawfish!! My mouth is watering at the thought of it! Good thing I don't get hungry or I'd be tempted to go grab some junk!!! Crawfish is my all-time favorite food! Damnit!!!!!!! Can't believe I missed it!!!
  10. I'm feeling much better...thanks!!! The crud never went to my chest. I'm still sniffling and coughing, due to post nasal drip. Six days out now and really excited about my post-op visit tomorrow. I can't wait to weigh!!! I'll keep you guys informed.
  11. Sorry, I didn't see that you had GB. Good luck to you!
  12. I wouldn't feel bad. My doc only requires clear liquids the day before surgery and NPO passed midnight, the night before. It definitely worked for me!
  13. Good deal! I'm not even sipping anymore!!!
  14. I'm sure you're home by now, but the only time I felt pain, was on a bumpy gravel surface. It really shouldn't be that bad! Sorry if I'm late, but I've been so tired!!! I am a revision as well. I was banded in 2002. I kept it off for 8 years, then started having issues with band: band slippage x2; tube detachment; port leakage...after 4 surgeries to repair the band, itself, and 2 hiatal hernia repairs, my doc said we couldn't use the band anymore. To make a long story short, I gained 40 lbs. in 4 years! Not good!!! Therefore, the sleeve, or Sleevie Plunder, as I affectionately call him. I feel bad for saying this. Probably shouldn't. But I've been drinking Protein shakes. Well, shakes is stretching it a bit, because they aren't thick. I just can't imagine getting ANY protein in without it. I go to see the NUT and NP tomorrow and they might give me hell. BUT... I feel great! liquid doesn't stretch the stomach! My gas has dissipated as of the morning! On a positive note, I GET TO WEIGH FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!! I'll let you know how it goes! Keep me informed on your progress! Good luck to all of us!!!
  15. Crescent City Surgical Center in Metairie by the Galleria. My surgery was Tuesday & I'm doing great! I go back Monday to meet with the NUT and the Nurse Practitioner. I can't wait to weigh! Bbinder, keep us informed on your progress!
  16. He said as long as I wasn't running a fever or had chest congestion we were good! So now I'm 3 days out and doing great! Still have a runny nose & its trying to go down in my chest, but I'm fighting it off. Prayers would be a great help! Thanks!!!
  17. My doc only requires clear liquids the day before & NPO (nothing by mouth) after midnight the night before! I was very lucky!!!!
  18. We live in the New Orleans metro area but we did go about 40 miles! Why?
  19. I did have problems getting liquids down in the hospital...and walking! All I wanted to do was sleep!!! The nurses were bugging the crap out of me. I told them that I would do better at home...and I did!!
  20. I would kill for some hot, spicy, boiled crawfish!!! I smell them all the time. My husband's eating BBQ now & I swear it smells like crawfish to me! I just had surgery on Tuesday; wish I would have thought about it last week! By the time I can eat anything it won't be in season! I guess I'll have to wait till next season! Thank God it comes twice a year! Just remember: "Pinch the tail and suck the head"!!!
  21. I'm only 3 days out & I started taking mine yesterday. BTW, I take 13 pills a day! Just take it slow and wait a while between pills! Good luck to you!
  22. Anyone out there sleeved on Feb. 3rd?
  23. Sleevie Plunder, because he steals unhealthy fat and replaces it with healthy lean! I kinda like being plundered!!!
