SALTY TASTE?
I can use pepper, just not Cajun or blackened seasoning. I live in metro New Orleans, so it's quite a problem for me. I've lived my entire adult life down here and I LOVE spicy food! I haven't used salt for 2 days, but I can still taste it. I've used black pepper, garlic & lemon juice on shrimp and fish. I haven't had chicken since this all started but when I do I'll use a pinch of spice and see if I can handle it. I do take a PPI and haven't had any acid problems since surgery! Thanks for the feedback! It really helps to know that I'm not the only one!!!

SALTY TASTE?
Ok, so I'm 8 weeks out and all of a sudden everything tastes disgustingly salty. It started yesterday, and when I woke up this morning I could still taste it. It's completely overpowering! When I started eating meat again, spicy food made me cough...a lot! That was new! I used to love very spicy food. I cut the spices down to half as much as I use to eat...I was good with that. Then yesterday this salt thing started and that's all I can taste. Today I didn't use any salt or anything with salt in it. Still, the taste. UGH!!! Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Band to sleeve in one procedure
I was banded in 2002 and sleeved 8 weeks ago. It was no problem, even though I had a large amount of adhesions from multiple abdominal surgeries.
-
Just starting to consider this as an option...
When I had to stop using the band, I gained 40 pounds in 4 years. That's when I decided on the sleeve. I can't help you with the other questions. I was private pay...sorry!!!

8 weeks since surgery and I think I am flunking this test!
I was on a stall for about a month, going up and down 1 or 2 pounds. For that month that I was in stall hell, I ate from recipes found Pinterest on the sleeve recipe page. I'm almost 8 weeks out and I kinda went back to basics. I eat either a scrambled egg or cream of wheat for Breakfast, then for lunch & dinner, I rotate between chicken breast, fish, or canned tuna mixed with mustard, cooked in coconut oil spray. I also eat one Greek yogurt for dessert. As a result, I've lost a pound a day for three days. I can only eat 2.5 ozs. I tried 3, but I was too full. BTW, I started eating at 1 1/2 weeks out. I'm talking "meat", not mushy, strained, or pureed! REAL MEAT!!! I just ate tiny bites. So, I had the band for 8 years, until it failed me, and now, I'm "working" the sleeve. I'm not gonna loose sight again! I'm gonna work it and not let it work me. The band was so much easier..if I ate too much, I'd puke. This is so different, but so much more "normal", to me, anyway! God luck to all of you who are suffering with eating more. I would definitely consult my doctor if I were in your shoes!!!

Any suggestions on what type of surgery I can say I am having at work?
My circumstances are a bit different. My husband's office is filled with catty women. He's the only man and the owner. I told very few people at the office about my surgery, after the fact. I'm sure everyone knows by now but I could care less. I did it for ME!!!! I know this doesn't help much if you don't want people to know! My son's boss/best friend had something done, but has never said anything to anyone, even though several in the office, including my son, have had the sleeve. Know that people are going to speculate even if you don't tell them!!! Hiatal hernia can only take you so far!!! Good luck, whatever you decide!

questions about surgery
1. I wasn't catheterized, but some are! 2. I put on my own PJ's as soon as I could I got to my room...pants and a t-shirt! 3. Some surgery centers allow people in recovery, some don't. Mine did! You can call your doctor's office and ask for his/her nurse or NP, or whatever. They might have to get back to you, but they will. I had tons of questions prior to surgery and probably bugged the crap out of them! They REALLY don't mind!

Coffee post VSG
I started drinking coffee in the hospital, post-op. I hated the taste of it. It was so weird! I used to love the taste of it! Now, at 7+ weeks out, I only drink one cup a day, but I like the taste again! Good luck with those taste buds!!!

Strange body weight shift after 19 weeks
I have heard that clothing manufacturers/designers have changed sizes to make people feel better about themselves, probably because happy people buy more. When I lost my weight with the lap-band I was 145lbs and in a size 4, and they were getting loose. I NEVER wore a size that small, even in high school and I weighed 107 when I graduated. After college I was 117 and in a size 6. Don't know if this real, but it sounds good to me! What's your opinion?

Is there something wrong with me?
My son had to set an alarm to remember to eat, me, not so much!!! But he was just a sleeve and I'm a revision...there is a difference!!!

I was told "no NSAIDs", as well...ever!!!

One month out - always nauseous- need advice
Have your doctor check your gallbladder. Nausea is one of the symptoms of gallbladder disease and it is quite common after SWL, as are gallstones.

Newbie
I can't help you with the diabetes, but I sure have a suggestion for the drink. I add Mango Peach MIO to my Water. I end up drinking about 100oz of it a day. I love the stuff!!! My husband & I drank them prior to my surgery, but he likes the Fruit Punch flavor. You can also drink Crystal Light or things like that. Good luck with your diabetes. Hopefully, it will resolve itself with weight loss!!!

1 week out post op.
My doc is a friend of the family. He told my son, who also had the sleeve, and I to progress at our own speed. I had a folder full of recommendations but started eating chicken and other solids at around 3 weeks. My son started at 5 days. He's 3 years out now and has lost 110 lbs and is maintaining. My doc told me yesterday that I'm above average for a revision patient's weight loss and doing great! I not saying that what we did is for everyone, but it was for us. Good luck to you!

We're you a difficult lab/IV stick?
I'm a very difficult stick, as well. I've woken up after surgery with central lines in my neck. I'm so over it, though. It's just my fact of life. Ask them if they have a Doppler. If not, ask for their most experienced person. It's your right! Ask for the anesthesiologist. He/she is probably your best bet. Good luck to you! But don't make yourself sick over it...it's your fact of life, as well!

When are the "typical" stalls?
@@ProjectMe - I'm so glad you said that about shrinking. I've been on the 3 week stall for 3 weeks, but I AM "shrinking"!!! I think I just might stop worrying! Thanks again!
-
When are the "typical" stalls?
I've found in my weight loss process(es), that I stall at a weigh that I've stayed at for a while. In other words if you were at 200 lbs for a while, when you get back down there, you might stall. I hope this makes sense.
