  1. I am supposed to do a 2week pre-op too but felt so weak and hungry after 3 days I started eating again. i am planning on trying again from tomorrow which will give me 1 week - let us know how your doc responds to the news...
  2. Congrats and best of luck!!! Hope you have a smooth surgery and nice relaxing recovery
  3. I am so envious of people that have this inner confidence! Part of my eating problem is due to my insecurities and feeling that if/when I don't look good I'm a second class citizen. This post has made me realize that I need to get myself into some therapy to address these issues, thanks for that!
  4. Your HR departement cannot divulge anything about your medical history to anyone, that would be a HIPAA violation and there would be serious consequences so I think you're fine..
  5. Ugh! How frustrating! Hopefully it's just delayed reaction and this week a whole bunch of weight just disappears like magic!
  6. Nothing at the moment That will change after the surgery though
  7. "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies" recommends Milk of Magnesia or prunes. Good luck
  8. Good luck! Let us know how things go!!
  9. I am paying for my own surgery with Dr David Kim on 8/22. My BMI is just slightly too low to qualify me for insurance and in any event I would not want the Lap Band or bypass that they would pay for. I considered Mexico but at the time I made my decision I had not been on this board - otherwise I probably would have gone with Dr Aceves. My total cost is $12,300 - the only extra was paying for my EKG as that was required a few weeks in advance. Plus $400 flight and 4 night hotel stay in Dallas. Dang, I wish I'd known in advance about the good options available in MX!!!!
  10. I am flying from SoCal to Dallas for my surgery. Surgery is Monday 8/22 and I will be flying home on Friday 8/26. Anyone else fly so soon afterwards? Any words of advice? Also, how swollen/uncomfortable is your abdomen at that stage? Are stretchy pants the best option for travel? Any advice about lugging a carry on that will be heavy due to the laptop? (Unfortunately NOT a Mac Air - if only!) I am also flying from LA to Kuwait at the end of October - that's a long one - anyone have any advice about that?
  11. This site has some good information: http://www.bariatric...atric-diet.html
  12. I have told only my 18 year old son and will not be telling anyone else. I have constructed an elaborate story to explain my absence at work and fortunately do not have to explain to family members as it is only my son and I in the USA, everyone else lives on different continents around the world. I know people will ask questions when the weight starts dropping off and I have the answers all ready for that too! I am a very, very private person, I also am very insecure and a loner – this may be the cause of my weight issues but that’s a topic for a different day. The interesting thing is that there is a woman at work who had the surgery a few months ago and I am dying to confide in her but do not trust her enough to do so. She told everyone at work about the surgery and seems to revel in all the attention she gets. Obviously she is a lot more self-confident and comfortable in the limelight than I am, so this is going to be between me and my son only. I am not even telling my friends (don’t have too many of those – which is a good thing in this case
  13. Wow! One tough cookie! Good for you!!!
