elizabethowen79 got a reaction from JaY???? in Diahrrea After Surgery?
I have had it since before my surgery, I did Protein shakes for 2 weeks pre-op. At hat time I figured it was liquid in, liquid out. I'm now 26 days out, been on soft foods for the past week. I am still having frequent watery stools. The kind where you stop mid-sentence when talking to someone because you have to go RIGHT NOW. My doctor is going to run a stool sample, think I may have c. diff. I work in a large hospital and could have gotten it from there before surgery.
Anyone else have c. diff or other infectious diarrhea after surgery?

Wow I bet you were an only child. You should be thankful for all of the insight and advice that it is shared here. Or maybe you should find another board that will cater to your delusional demands.

IMO I think you should try to stick to your doc and NUT recommendations as far as carbs, lettuce etc. And if you are unable to make your own decision after looking up the nutrition info for McDs then I'm not sure you are intelligent enough to be successful with the sleeve.
Honestly not trying to be ugly.

No. I would not. I realize that this is a public forum and things are going to veer in many different directions. I also realize that the world, as much as i would like for it too, doesn't revolve around me or my wants or my desires. Maybe you should realize that as well.

WTH? Thanks to great technology and auto-correct!?! "Peeps cans"? I can't even remember what it was supposed to be, but I'm assuming something along the line of "fill maintenance are a very expensive hassle"
    Peep cans?!?? Hahahahahaha :-D

I was a hard core Diet Mountain Dew junkie pre-op and have struggled to find something that I really like to drink. strawberry Powerade Zero is good by itself, add a Lemonhead powder = FabUlous!
This has honestly filled a big void in my life.

I would run that by your surgeon and primary doctor. It could be your body adjusting to new metabolism and food intake, but best to check it out thoroughly.

Yes you can slap her. I understand why people are either open about the surgery or private; I have chosen to be open about it. That was a very insensitive remark. I would have said something like "that's great that you were able to lose weight by exercising, but after struggling with my weight for so long I decided that surgery was what I needed to help me do that". If the trainer is still negative, I would ask to see another trainer. I would also ask to speak to the owner of the facility and relay the conversation and explain that you are not asking for anyone's approval, that you just need help with exercise.
    Best of luck!!

So I am recently sleeved at have been eating real food now for about a week and a half. Twice this week I have mindlessly ate/drank like before I was sleeved. It was as if I completely forgot I was sleeved and I was on autopilot. The first thing was on Monday, got a fountain coke while out running errands. First sip- tasted funny, thought the Syrup was out. Second sip- still tastes gross and feels funny in my stomach OH YEAH MY TINY LITTLE STOMACH! Today driving home from work grabbed a small slice of leftover thin crust cheese pizza out of my lunchbox and wolfed it down. A few minutes later have a discomfort in my...tiny little stomach.
Thank god I did not puke or do enough to make me miserable. It's so funny how these bad habits are ingrained so deeply that I do them automatically.

I am so saddened by your situation. I can only imagine how hard this is, I was sleeved 3 weeks ago and the recovery itself is diifucult enough. I agree with the others, you MUST take care of yourself right now. Drink your fluids, get some Protein in and try to take the Vitamins. Soon enough you will be able to advance to more 'normal' food and hopefully get some good nutrition in that way.
Marriage counseling and/or personal counseling might be a good idea. At least maybe you and your husband may be able to talk about what is going on with the help of a counselor.
Look at it this way- if you end up in the hospital for dehydration/malnutrition, it will be harder to try to sort things out with your husband.
I hope things get better for you!

A while back I came across the powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury recipe for chocolate Peanut Butter balls. Tonight I made what I will call 'mud'; almond butter mixed with chocolate Protein Powder. It is very dense and satisfies my craving for dessert. The chocolate flavor does not come through well because there is not a lot of moisture. Not an award winning recipe by any means but will get me through the 'Christmas goodies everywhere' season.

I tell EVERYONE! I plastered my journey all over my Facebook page and if I knew how or had time to blog I'd do that too. I've met some people that were negative about my surgery (oddly enough, they were super overweight , so figure) but most people were supportive. And by showing my struggles to get through the program and how I can't have the stuff I used to love (diet soda and champagne, to name a few) I don't think anybody thinks its the cheater way out. And if they do, they can suck my balls. With me being so open about my surgery, I've had a few coworkers approach me about having the surgery (and these are people who can truly benefit from it).

elizabethowen79 got a reaction from Kristi64 in Is The Sleeve Or Lap Band Best For Me?
I would like to share my lapband experience. I was banded in 2003, at a weight of 245 lb. I initially lost 75 lb in about the first year, but only after several balancing acts that was adjusting. I was either too tight to eat anything solid OR I had little to no restriction. Fast-forward to now, weight is (was) 220 lbs.
Started working with a new doctor. 6 adjustments and 1 EGD later I had enough of the band. I was revised to the sleeve 3 weeks ago (Nov 6).
Re: Risks- The sleeve is a more involved and invasive surgery. This naturally makes the risk of complication higher than the band, at least in the short term. Leaks seem to be the worse complication from the sleeve, but it is very rare. I don't have data to support but I'm pretty sure you are only at risk for a leak for a certain time period after surgery. On the other hand, many complications from the lapband can occur at any time post surgery. Scarring, erosion, slipping, and possible autoimmune response can all be pretty serious.
Re: Recovery- My recovery was longer after the sleeve than wih the band. Of course I was 9 years younger then. After the band I was fine to go back to work after a few days. This time with the sleeve I had 2 full weeks off and then 1 week part time before returning full-time. I know some people can return to work after a few days with the sleeve, I personally did not feel well enough to.
Re: Weight loss not as much?- Thise who are successful with the band can lose down to goal, but is generally slower than with the sleeve. Again looking at the long term, many with the band re-gain, and often end up heavier than when they started. Not sure about statistics with gaining back after the sleeve, but I would guess it is not as much.
The band does work for some but unfortunately does fail many times. Do all the research you can, connect with people from both "sides" and see what you feel is the best choice.
    Good luck on your journey!
