  1. Congratulations! I'm set for surgery on the 14th! I hope mine is as smooth as yours!! Good luck!
  2. I agree, you may just need to put your foot down. I have sleep apnea, and my surgeon didn't order any tests for me on it. The only cardiology test I had to have was one stress echo, and that is only because I was a smoker for so many years. I hope that they back off, it isn't like this whole thing is cheap, AND to have to constantly add to that surgery bill with all these appt's elsewhere can't be easy on your wallet! Hope things get a little easier!
  3. I guess it depends on the people in your life. I told EVERYONE. I've been doing a log of everything I've had to do on facebook for all the people in my life, real time, or cyber. I'm proud of my decision and following through with all the steps that I've had to do to get approved by my insurance. This is not a small thing, and the people in your life should be supportive about YOUR decision since it is YOU body. Just my thoughts! With that said, I wish you the best of luck!
  4. Hope everything went well! You are on your way to a new, fabulous you!!
  5. Best of luck to you!! I'm still 18 days away from mine, and am excited beyond necessary! lol
  6. Congratulations! I'm having mine in a couple of weeks. I look forward to reading more about your journey!
  7. My doc advised me on the costco shakes. Since they are only one carb, I say they are the way to go. Plus they have more Protein than most others. The staples are made of titanium. They will not dissolve. You will always have them, but over time scar tissue will develop over the staples, so there is no worry about leakage once you are totally healed, and the scar tissue has grown over them. Here is a doctor talking about them:
  8. Oh my goodness! You just had your surgery in May and have already lost 38 pounds!? Way to go!!
  9. AWESOME! Congratulations! When did you have your surgery?
  10. You can do it!! Get the Protein shakes, sugar free Jello, and beef and chicken broth. Crystal light is always a great help, and this is going to sound silly, but when you start getting a craving-drink a couple of tbs's of pickle juice! I know it sounds silly, but IT WORKS!!
  11. I know!! I start mine on the 7th! So we will be right in line with each other. I've already started stocking up on all the things I will need so I won't have an "excuse" to eat something bad. I do have some awesome friends. They are so supportive. Of course, they are all half my size or less! So they are super happy about me doing this. If I didn't know better, I would think my best friend is more excited than I am about me getting this surgery. She is using it as an excuse to get back down to her smallest, which was last year, she did Atkins and did really well. At least I've encouraged ONE person! LOL
  12. Oh, no a newbie asked where I was having my surgery above. How long do you have to do your preop diet for? Is it all liquid or do you get to eat meals?
  13. Thank you so much!! I'm thankful that my diet is only for a week, but it is all liquid, no meals at all. Which is why I'm a little worried. But after reading that you had to go through that for 3 weeks, I'm thinking I need to stop complaining about my one week diet! Also, I have a couple of girlfriends that are going to do it with me just because. Which I'm super thankful for! I will check out your blogs!! Thanks again!
  14. Hi! I'm having mine in Dallas! Just a hop, skip, and hour long drive from home! I had to go through all the "pre qualifications" required by my insurance, which was a really long process. I have to start my diet on the 7th, and I'm fretfully nervous about it. I love to eat! So I guess that this is a way to start programming myself to what I will have to do after surgery as well. I can't believe you are going all the way to Tijuana! I don't think I could do that. Is the cost a lot less than in the states?
  15. When my doctor's office called, they said all liquid. I can have protein shakes and I'm sure that will stave off some of the hunger, sugar free jello, broth, sugar free popsicles and crystal light, tea, and water. No sugar. High protein. I don't know. I think I can manage since I'm so excited about the end result, a healthier, happier, me!!
  16. My surgery is scheduled for July 14th!!!! I'm overly ecstatic about this. I have worked soooooooo hard with my physician and insurance to get approved, and am amazed that this part of the process is so close to being over and I can start on my journey! I am supposed to start my liquid diet on the 7th, I have flitted through some of the topics, and haven't seen anything about "liquid" diets. I may have overlooked, but was just wondering how you got through it? Are there any pointers any of you can give? I'm down with the sugar free Jello, since I eat it all the time any way. I have a healthy stock of Crystal Light, and I have been making single serving bowls of fresh chicken broth, and freezing them for about a month now. (basically every time I roast a chicken!) So, I'm covered, but realistically, how hard is it?
  17. Hi! I am scheduled for my surgery July 14th!! I'm terribly nervous about the week long liquid diet, and finding the right vitamin's and what not. Any luck?
