Midijola got a reaction from work2do in How are the ones who got sleeved the first week in april?
    HI there,
Congrats on your 80, I have lost almost 75 - I am around 170lbs now. I would like to get to155lbs. So I have a bit of work to do still. I have had a lot of stalls then I lose sometimes up to 5lbs in a week after a stall. I have lost really slowly the past 6 weeks.
I have had a consult for a corset Tummy Tuck and breast lift, which I hope to get done in January. I am working towards my goal weight to be ready for my next phase in life. Other than that I am super happy with my results and for making the decision to remove the band and go to the sleeve.

Hi there, I live in WA - but at the top end, so although Perth is my capital city, by kilometre I am actually closer to Brisbane.
I had a band to sleeve revision 10 days ago in Perth. I am back home now and have lost 4kg - only 1 kg away from double digits...wahoo!!

I got on the scale this morning & weighed 198. I've got an appointment with my Doc on Friday for my one year checkup, that's 90 lbs gone . I'm sure he'll be pleased.

    Hi fellow Aussies,
I thought I'd say hello again and see how you're all going. I broke 100kg this morning, so I am a happy camper! Only 25kg to go...but to be back in double digits was my first goal, so I am pretty chuffed....good luck with all your journeys!

I was out yesterday and it was lunch time so we stopped at a dinner and I ordered just a side of cottage cheese and the waitress was like .. That's all you want?? I said yes! She brings out the cottage cheese and my friend her sandwich and Soup and it took me just as long to eat my two tablespoons if cottage cheese as she did her soup and sandwich and man I savored every bite!! The waitress came back and I still had mounds if cottage cheese and I asked for a container and she looked so confused!! Hahaha it was so funny!! But I felt like I just ate a turkey dinner in thanksgiving!! It was great!! I love my new tummy!!

It's my 30th birthday today and I can finally eat real food! I had my band removed and converted to the sleeve on 4/9/14. My recovering was rough and I wasn't able to drink more than 2 tablespoons of Water at a time or "eat" without getting nauseous. A week and half after surgery (the night before Easter) I was back in the hospital with pancreatitis and also discovered my gallbladder was full of "sludge". I have one of the best surgeons in the country and he said he has never seen anyone have a perfectly clean and healthy gallbladder a month before surgery (I had an ultrasound) end up with one that looked like mine in such a short time. Needless to say, I had my gallbladder removed last week and was discharged from the hospital after 4 days.
On Tuesday I was given the go ahead to finally move on to mushy/pureed foods! I am excited because I was on liquids for a month (including the pre-op diet). I am not a fan of sweets and artificial sweeteners give me Migraines, so the liquid diet was difficult with all of the Protein Shakes, popsicles and Jello. I know I still need to incorporate Protein shakes into my diet, but it is so great to be able to have fish, veggies, and ground turkey. Oh, and I don't have to worry about acid reflux or food getting stuck. I feel "normal". Best birthday present yet! I'm so happy!

I too was sleeved on the 9th and since surgery I have lost 11lbs like you. I lost some on the pre op diet so I am happy with my total loss so far. What I am most pleased about is that I have broken the triple digit mark (I now weigh less than 100kg!! and am only in double digits - btw I live in Australia
I know what you mean about being so busy, or maybe too busy, my kids are aged 10, 3 and 11 months. I only just went back to work today after surgery but cant complain having had such a good break/recovery. My 10 yr old and my biggest child (husband) have been super helpful, so that has taken the pressure off. But picking up my 3 yr is hard, he is too big and heavy
    so soon after surgery.
I am a total shocker when it comes to the scales as I weigh daily - although there isnt a loss every day, it is consistently going down. The scale and I are friends now cos its going down as opposed to only ever going up.
I think though, if you're experiencing incision pain, that's definitely a cue that you need to take it a little bit easier on yourself. Take care and all the best on your journey!

The break outs are because your body is starting to detox itself from all the stored toxins in your body over a long period of time. It releases them as they were stored in your body..Slowly....It is almost like reliving all the bad things we ate before this @Midijola It will get better but it will take time.

    Sounds like you are pre-op???
saying on the board - "one thing we have in common is that we're all different"
docs and NUTS have different rules about things
some of "them" say no coffee - "never, ever"
others say after a certain time period you can have alittle coffee
some say no alcohol for 6 months
    others say.............
    wait 6 months, 6 weeks, 6 days, 6 minutes etc - ..
soda - some/many say NO, NO, NO
    others say .................
no straws, others say its ok
sex - some might say wait til you feel ok, then take it slowly, easy for awhile (no crazy acrobats!)
other docs might say NO NO NO to sex forever!!!!
    gotcha!!!!
so..........the answer to your question (oh no, what was your question again LOL)
alcohol - soda - never say never!!!! unless doc says so
i drink coffee, no alcohol, straws or soda/carbonation for this grammy
listen to your NUT and surgeon ALWAYS like they were amongst the highest power!!!

    good luck with surgery

Midijola got a reaction from KMLG135 in April 9th is my day! I am beyond excited!
I am now 2 days post op and like you have been surprised how much Fluid I could consume at first. But now, I have had half a cup of broth and half a cup if black coffee and I am feeling satisfied. It's strange, but was concerning for me too at first.
I can't believe it's happened and am now going to be only seeing weight go down. I am excited, I only hope I don't lose too quick as I don't want people to ask too many questions. No one except for my husband knows I have had this surgery.
I think the little caffeine boost from the coffee is kicking in, making me feel awesome this morning. All the best on your weight loss journeys!!

Hey there, my sleeve revision surgery is on April 9 too! I had my band out last November after 6 yrs in. I was also quite successful for a period of time till the band became unfriendly.
I am excited but also very nervous, like you said cutting off half a bodily organ isn't something to take on lightly. But no doubt the long term gain (pardon the pun) ...health gain will make it all worth it!! Good luck!

Midijola got a reaction from Band2Sleever in Revision Surgery Wait Time Between Band To Sleeve
Yes I agree, I think it is too, but I will wait it out. I kinda have to now as I flew down to have the band removed anticipating a 3month wait to have the sleeve done in January, taking a week off work. However, after he removed it he thinks I need to wait at least 6 months. So now when we are down for Christmas I will see either my surgeon or another one to book in for April. I have to work around school holidays as I am a teacher.
I am just trying to research a surgeon that perhaps have done the most revision surgeries. My surgeon I know has done a lot and only puts sleeves in now and only takes bands out, he said he only put one band in, in the last 12 months. I said I wished I had a sleeve done instead of a band and he said it was still very new then (2007), that the band was the main option. Also I was still in Perth at that time. I have had to go up to Darwin for a fill adjustment cos its closer, but being remote is inconvenient for a band.

What an awesome encouraging story! Thank you for sharing. I am 3 weeks away from revision surgery and naturally have had some trepidation about long term results. It was interesting to read your story about the plane seatbelt. As it was an o/s flight when I was at my heaviest that was the catalyst, helping me to make the decision to get a band, many yrs ago. Here I am now, not as heavy as I was, originally successful but now a failed lapbander ready to start my new journey.

Midijola got a reaction from girliegirl in yo-yo back and forth
    Hi girlie girl,
I too have questioned it, mostly the risk factor of a revision surgery. I did have success with the band but as we have all discovered it doesn't work long term. My deciding factor is something I have heard my surgeon say quite a few times. He said statistically people with a morbidly obese BMI will never have sustained long term weight loss, unless they have weight loss surgery (WLS). That's why most of us are still battling weight after a lapband failure. That point alone made my decision. The research and statistics say I will not be able to maintain a healthy weight without WLS.
Please note, my surgeon has said this to me numerous times, I have not seen this research. My revision surgery is booked for April 9. (I had my band removed 5 months ago)

Good luck Idlewood with your surgery in a few days!! The more I read here the more I know a sleeve is for me. I have read in other threads how some surgeries took longer than expected due to band 'dramas' being removed, when done at the same time. The fact after surgery he believes I am still a candidate just with a bit more wait time for safety measures, is good enough for me.
I think still I may call around and find out about which surgeons have done more revision surgeries. Thanks all for your input!
