  1. I am right there with you! I will be going in at 6:30 Wednesday and hopefully in the OR at 8:30. This forum has been an amazing support tool for me. Youtube has helped too. It is so cool watching someone from week 1 postop to 1 year anniversary.
  2. Mobility related issues would be the main thing I noticed . Many had diabetes and the sleeve had either cured them or they saw a great decrease in their medicine.
  3. It will be here before you know it! It amazes me the perception we have of time. It feels like I was just sitting there watching the seminar video.
  4. Something that I had noticed in going to support groups is those that really struggled always had other medical situations. I don't want to come across as uncouth but they were just unable to dedicate a great deal of concentration to weight loss. I have heard many say that it is just a tool and that we have to make it work.
  5. I sure did. I decided to go with Dr. Smith. He is a little closer to home. I had a friend that used Dr. Black and she really liked him. I don't have anything bad to say about Dr. Black other then he was a longer drive for me.
  6. I have blue shield of ca and they approved me in 5 days. I called the day after it was submitted and they said it was a 5 day wait. I then called right before closing on day 4 and got my approval code. Each company will be different but I had no problem with bothering them. Everyone I talked to in the preauthorization department were very friendly. They even wished me well with the surgery.
  7. Emily, I know exactly what you mean. I have felt very confident that this was the right decision. However, when I was in PATT Friday going over everything for surgery this Wednesday ... stuff got real! But I'm still confident ... there is just this little voice going off in my head now.
  8. Dr. Smith is doing the same with me by preforming the test while I'm still on the table. I have complete faith in him and if he says this is the best way then I'm ok with it. He has not had a single leak in 2+ years. He also uses extra clasps and glue to prevent leaks. I'm classified as outpatient for my insurance. However, if I don't feel up to leaving at the 23 hour mark then I'm more then welcome to stay. Outpatient vs inpatient has nothing to do with the quality of care you receive but how long you will be in the hospital. My insurance will only accept outpatient classification for the precert.
  9. I called and received my approval code today. This is only 4 business days after successful submission. My surgeon's billing coordinator did have to submit an extra form and have some of the wording changed in the psych eval letter of recommendation. They required: - 6 month supervised diet - Psych eval - Pre-op nutritionist The preauth helpline has been very helpful and I only had to call twice. They actually said it was due tomorrow but I called before closing today and am good to go! A great experience with BSofCA!
  10. Susan, this is awesome! Would you mind changing me to the 17th? We had a hiccup with insurance but that has been sorted and I got my approval code today! All of my preop appointments are set and I will officially be sleeved on the 17th.
  11. Gail, Here are my instructions from my center: 3/4 - 1 cup of food per meal. Meals should never be more than 1 cup. You will need to eat about 5 times a day or every 3 hours. 600 - 800 Calories The goal is at least 60 grams of Protein per day for females, under 5'6". 70 grams per day for females 5'6" - 5'9" & all males 5'6" & under. 80 grams/day for females 5'10" & above and males 5'7"-6'0". 90 grams per day for males 6'1" & above. Protein supplements should be high in protein, but low in calories. At least 12g of protein per 100 calories. Hope this helps!
  12. Woot! It seems like just yesterday I was complaining about having to do a 6 month diet and now I'm two weeks out. Now if the next 6 months go by just as fast!
  13. He was probably thinking about a "Fit Bit"? Nonetheless, I have no experience with Frappe.
  14. Well wishes for a speedy recovery!
  15. Ha! Never thought about that. My 6 month cleaning just happened to fall 3 weeks before surgery. Maybe we just want to feel fresh and clean going in?
  16. Good luck today and well wishes for a speedy recovery!
  17. I really like Davinci! I have also heard a lot of good things on torani. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ uses torani a lot.
  18. I agree Whitney. All of our journeys are our own. When we are at our goal weight and look back it is possible that we may think "I don't miss that food and didn't need it". But today is not that day. I think in moderation it can be ok. I believe where people get in trouble is those 2,000+ calorie meals like I used to have at The Cheesecake Factory. I have intently stayed away and will not say goodbye as I don't want to completely sabotage myself.
  19. I have Blue Shield of CA and have read that BCBS can be as quick as 2 days and as slow as 2 weeks. I for one will be stalking my pre-authorization ladies until I have an answer.
  20. The most obvious one is a fever. Some have also described it as shoulder pain (but is often very common with LAP surgery). Good luck!
  21. I have read that some find body pillows useful. Good luck Monday!
  22. I honestly had no idea what this thread was about until I clicked lol!
  23. Whitney, I'm going through the same thing! I lost 25 lbs (6 month diet) and have gained back 2 in the last week and only 2 weeks out from surgery. I'm trying to get myself in check. I felt so prepared less then a week ago and now that my date is final I have started letting my cravings get the best of me. However, I know what I'm doing is best for myself and I'm going to pick myself up and get back on track. I wish you luck and a speedy recovery!
  24. I stole these two links from another thread: http://www.bestpricenutrition.com/syntrax-nectar-sampler-pack-11-packs.html http://www.mybariatricpantry.com/SYNTRAX_NECTAR_PROTEIN_POWDER_SAMPLES_p/nectar-sample.htm I purchased mine from Vitalady since my NUT recommended them: http://www.vitalady.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?search=action&keywords=SyntraxNectar&template=Templates/Syntrax_Nectar.html Glad I could help!
