can you order them online? Unjury.com sells the Protein in a lot of flavours and also sells the chewable vitamins. Also Amazon.com sells some as well. Hope this helps.

You will loose fast in the first few months after surgery. I started at 298 was 275 when sleeved in 2010. I went down to 135. My goal was 125 (I’m 5”2’). I never got to my goal I began looking like a skeleton with skin. I stopped the liquid and didn’t measure anything and basically ate till I was full. Well here I am 8 years our and I fluctuate between 165-185. Depending how active I am.
I never lost my butt or hips or boobs. I lost mostly the excess fat on my thighs, arms and back and belly.
So it is possibly to get to goal or below and still keep your curves. Just remember that the lower your weight the healthier it is on your heart and organs.
Take it slow and don’t worry. Your body will find its new normal and you will be ok. Just remember that it’s 3x harder to loose the weight once it’s gained back. I know I have been trying for over a year now. Old habits are hard to break.
    Best of luck.

@Pleasedontjudgeme Honey relax and take a moment to Celebrate what you have accomplished. This is a life style change not a race. I know your having doubts. I got them too only mine hit 30 mins after I woke from the surgery. I am 7 years and 7 months out. So I have hit every stage you can imagine. I even regained some weight. I get what your all experienceing. Please don’t get discouraged or start the “stinking thinking”. It took me at least 5 weeks before I had large jumps in weight loss. I still don’t have major swings and I am back to basics measuring and liquids.
Yiur all doing. Wonderful. It take months to heal completely and your still figuring out all the emotional changes as well. Stay focused and follow the doctors directions. You will see changes happening. Take a picture of yourself. Print it out and then have a family member hold it. In a month take another to compare. You will see the changes before you know it you will be amazed at the progress. Have a blessed day.

CJFW got a reaction from Frustr8 in Guess how much my surgeon's office wanted to charge my insurance?
I’m 7 years out. I was the first sleeve done in my local hospital. I think I pause $1200 out of pocket and about 42,000 for the entire thing. But I had to do 6 months of office visits, psych, nutritionist and exercise program. I was in the hospital 3 days and had 2 post op follow ups. I also have unlimited access for life to the weight loss people. So I consider that a worthwhile cost.

I have been sleeved for 5 years. When I made my decision I heard all that crap too. As a matter of fact my boss at the time was scheduled to have hers done before me. So she felt slighted that I to was having it she was a great deal heavier. However I ha been having issues with my health for over 6 years prior and I had a hubby and 2 children to think about. She and another lady that had a band always made comments and talked about me.
My closest friend there was a RnY bypass with 3 years out. She told me. Look their gonna talk. You will drop more weight fast because you have less to loose and she won't like it. But it's your life. I had surgery and it happens just like she said. By the time I was back 3 weeks later I was down 42 lbs. she was sleeved 1 month prior and has lost 40 but you couldn't tell much.
I was told I cheated, was lazy because I did not attend her support group or Zumba classes. I did my own at another location. All my family supported me in person and on the phone and still do.
My husband is my biggest fan. He tells me no matter what I look like he loves me. So if anyone asks I tell them yeah I had it done. Had to to fix problems with my health. If they give me any BS I ask them if they could come visit me for a month and we will live on liquid Protein together and work and all the other stuff we have to do and. See who is stronger.
I don't bull s it it. I'll tell them plain out it is my body and I choose what I do. If you son like it or the way I live to bad. God choose me to do a specific purpose in life and if gastric sleeve is part of that who am I to argue.
I also ask them how much they spend each month on medications, ciggaretts and side pop. Along with all the other crap they eat. That usually ends their rants.

Bethel. Don't beat yourself up over this. It is a life changing event. It is something I certainly never considered. My sister did some 16 yrs ago a d had the same fears. She never went through with it. I believe if she had she would not be suffering. High BP. Fibromyalgia and anxiety on a daily basis
If you check my profile you can see my story. I am sleeved 5 years. I had borderline diabetes and hypertension. I was 285lbs at my heaviest. Watched my mom pass from type 2 related cancer. Made the decision I wanted control of my own life. I went to 4 different hospitals in my area for their info sessions. I found a team approach was best for me. So I went with them. I was sleeved on a Friday. Let me tell you. I was the very first ever sleeve preformed in the hospital How's that for trust. I tell everyone about my dr and his team.
5 years out I have gained back about 35 lbs. so I went back to basics and I am eating Protein shakes and Protein rich meals. Exercising N that's all I can do. I am loosing about 1 lb a day. Not to drastic. But it is a loss and I will accept that.
No one can make the decision for you. It's personal, emotional and will be a drastic change in your life. First mentally you will doubt yourself and the change your mind. Then physical once the weight starts dropping off then social as you get your life back. I also Add religious because for me personally without that I am lost.
My advice. Do your research. See what is covered my your carrier make and appointment to speak with the dr and his team. Have questions already wrote down. Ask them their success rate and failure rate. Speak to the nutritionist start eating a plan they set up. Speak to the physiologist get a base assessment done. And then pray on it. It will work out. You will see. Trust your instincts and don't give up. You will never know what you can accomplish is you let fear stop you before you start.

HAHHA, I love the comments.. SO I can see where your coming from.. I had scares from my gallbladder removal so I was lucky when they removed the stomach he reused the same areas. I too had some bruising an a little pain.. SO nothing even touching me could work for the first month. I was nauseated by the Protein and had to take anti nausea meds which left me sleepy and woozy.. so there was not many positions I could get into that would not:
    A. cause me some discomfort
    B. Show the bruises
    c. I would not get dizzy and fall..
SO the solution we can up with was laying on our side in a spooning position. This way he could still hold me and the girls, and it didn't put pressure on my abdominal area. It also helped to put a pillow (fold it in half) between your knees. Worked like a charm.
NO COMPLAINTS were had by him or I

I was told not to use a straw because it increases the likelihood of swallowing air? I don't know..... it's not like the straw goes straight into my throat! Seems a little silly. Still, since I was instructed not to, I try to avoid it. Every now and then I will be served a glass of Water with a straw in it when I'm out to eat and I will drink with the straw without even thinking about it and I've had no ill effects, so I don't think it's the end of the world if you do use a straw. I know a LOT of people on these forums have an easier time getting their liquids in if they do use a straw.

Thanks for all the support. I had a good day with Protein intake. I had 2 servings of shakes and a small chicken & chees casadilla with my son. I also drank 4 12 oz bottles of Water. When I felt a craving I chewed a piece of sugar free gum. It is gonna be a hard restart. But I am just trying to stay positive. Had a side effect today which I expected migrane from carb reduction. But a small amount of the tortilla that the casadilla was made from seems to help. I also received in 1 container of syntha 6 Protein as well as powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored and vanilla. So I will be making some pudding to add with the shakes for a while.
I thank all of you for the support. I really miss that. My life is so crazy ( full time college student, wife, mother if 2 ages 11 & 16). We have had 4 deaths in 8 months. So that caused some depression and I just eat whatever. I can't do more then 5 ounces a meal. But I did notice today I wanted to graze. So that's what my biggest issue will be. Keep all your suggestions coming. I'm hoping to do some light exercise tomorrow. I'm hoping to ride my bike for a few blocks. Thanks for all the suggestions and support. Oh one more thing my husband said he loves me no matter what. He said he's the luckiest man in the world. That helped my spirits alot. <3 you all.

    Hello fellow sleever's
I am 5 years out. I feel compelled to speak openly to you all. I'm typing on a phone so excuse typos.
    1. This is a life changing event.
2 the day will come when you can eat other stuff in moderation. However you will need to be focused and stay on the diet
    3. Protein. Protein. Protein. So how do you get it all in???? It's hard I know do your shakes. If your tired of them. Change it up. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury protein has chicken Soup and unflavored. Use them in a blended drink. Veggies and fruits can be liquified and strained to form natural juice. Add Water and some protein. Add some spices (mild one) to Soups and broth.
    4. Walk walk walk. The easiest thing to do. And you can do it in bursts. Walk around your house. Walk the drive way or even down the block if your not in pain
5 use your support groups and family/friends. Don't rush it. Recovery is the main reason for the liquid. Your stomach was cut off and stapled/ stitched and it will feel soar.
6 if you feel sick or nauseated that's normal. I was on anti nausea meds for 3 months used them as needed. Ask your dr if a Zantac or similar might help. Gas x is your buddy. I still use it.
7 lastly. Don't believe anyone who says VS doesn't cause dumping. It does high sugar, heavy foods and sometimes things you lease expect will cause it. Something you eat today will disagree with you tomorrow.
Also. If you feel like food is stuck, or have a odd discomfort try a teaspoon of hot Water. Yes hot. It helps to relax the muscles in the digestive track and helps the item. Go down. (Next bite chew better count to 50 with each bite)
Use smaller plates and cups. I litterely bought a 2 oz measuring cup to drink from and cocktail forks to eat with. Good luck all you got this.

I was sleeved 10/28/2010. I was the first vbs in local hospital. All the reps and drs were watching. Talk about performance anxiety. Lol.
First day I was under heavy sedation. Since I was a guinie pig I a 3 day stay. Watched constantly. Liquid was crap but I felt with it. I figured it was better the. The weight. Pain was doable.
About 2 weeks out I was tired of liquids. I tried everything. I even did Jello and puddings. On my diet. But I craved. Real food. I found out that was because my BRAIN needed it not my body. So I kept on the liquid and semi solids.
When I finally hit stage 2 scrambled eggs is what I wanted. Yup I ate them. All 1 bite. Then immediately fell to the floor crying in pain. It hurt. But I could suck grape tomatoes (skinned and seeded them. And chewed lettuce. Which was a no no. But it helped.
5 years out I long for that liquid diet. So I re started my journey.
Be strong. It will get better. It's worth all the pain and the world does open up for you. Be patient and follow all rules and stay in a support group. Get plenty of Water and Protein. Plus Fiber and Vits. They help.
As for the chewing. I froze yes froze some Protein Jello or pudding with plastic spoons in the 2 to 4 oz dixi cups. Makes a great snack and helps with the chewing issue. Just be gentle with the pace you eat them.

Hi I had my VS oct 2010. Yep. I loved it. Still do. Problem is I lost me way. I feel trapped in a forest of unhealthy foods. I can eat anything in small portions. I know my sleeve is stretched. Last dr visit he x rayed it said some expansion. That was 3 yrs ago. So now I feel like it would be Mount Everest.
I started back on Protein today. Has some Water and my Vits. Started feeling hungry so I ate a small amount and stopped when full. Hoping I can recover over next few days and start the weight loss again. Sad to say when I started this process I was 257. Surgery day I was 247 with hypertension and boarder line type 2. Today I feel sluggish and fat all over again. I just want to hide. I do not feel happy, sexy or worthy. Especially once I stepped on scale. The last time I was on one I was at 139 at 1 yr out. Today it said 180. That's a 41lb increase since I year. I am about to start the 5 day pouch reset. Hoping it helps. Kick start my diet again. Thanks to all of you. I don't post often but I visit site from time to time to check in.
