    Questions...

I've had the exact same feeling.... It's horrid! What happened to me was the food was stuck. I either ate too fast, or didn't chew it enough, or the food was too sticky. I'm three years post op and to this day I have no desire for rice! My doctor said a couple sips of soda might help (and I utilize this trick even now). I take a couple sips, get up and moving around,.stretch out my rib cage, and the carbonation of the soda helps the foods get "unstuck". Even after all these years, once in a while I get that delayed (like 15 min after) overly full feeling and it's awful. It feels like nothing will move.... And my heart starts pounding.....And with the nausea the last thing I want to do is sip soda, but it truly helps me. Otherwise, I simply CANNOT drink anything with meals because it will make me sick.
  2. Personally, I don't understand why so many people are advised to be on liquids so long..... My surgeon ordered two weeks of liquids only. Then I was pushed out of the nest to venture with soft foods and if I tolerated that, I could advance as tolerated.

    Please help

Oh, I had THE WORST EVER nausea post op. The only thing that worked was compazine suppositories. Lasted two full weeks! My doc said it was a post op potential but would be temporary. I'm so sorry, that really really stinks

    **confession**

I'm not, per say, referring to the "topic at hand", just the way reading MANY threads (definitely not just this one) makes my heart beat fast from the tense anxiety in the room. I've had my share of post op life threatening situations, and have used it to educate others to prevent it from happening to them. But never would I want it to get so verbally ugly.

    Chia....

Delta_girl, I think I'm with you; I will use them just before I eat. They can absorb the water from my insides:) Besides, I like the crunch texture better. The soaked ones seem to stick to my teeth, too!

    Chia....

Oh..... That might explain the earthy taste LOL, this is as learning experience. Next time I'll use less!

    Chia....

I'm really trying to tell myself that this is appealing (cottage cheese with no sugar added peaches with a mix of chia seeds)..... But it's definitely mind over matter and I can't finish it! I have sensitive taste buds and for some reason I have an earthy after taste in my mouth! I think I'm in trouble for lunch, as my egg salad is infested with chia. Good thing I can survive without a lot of food! LOL
  8. It is definitely infected. Your doc will probably order antibiotics. Good luck, I hope for fast healing!
  9. I never really had a huge alteration in my taste buds. I'm three years post op and every once in a while if something doesn't smell or taste right, I throw it out! That is something new to me. If my nose or mouth don't like it..... Bye bye.
  10. I had the same thing 2 weeks post op. it has been 3 years since my surgery. I also was on the shots and the pills. I got off of the pills after 6 months, but 10 months later I fell down the steps and got a clot in my knee. I got the clot in my knee from trauma and the fact that I had a history of clots. after 6 more months of blood thinners, my doctor took me off and tested me for a clotting disorder. It was normal! the theory that I was given was that after my surgery I was so dehydrated that that is what caused the clots. I have now been off of the blood thinners for almost 1 year. so, if you don't have any clotting disorders, the outcome should be fine. it was a very scary thing to go through, and I felt like it was going to be the end of me. It took me a long time to feel like I could live my life again. keep your head up!

    Need To Vent

I hope your surgery went smoothly! And I also hope your husband and parents have come around now that it's done
  12. I was referring to the fried and breaded ones, but the same thing happens when I eat fresh cheese curds. I'm from WI, not sure if you can get those everywhere
  13. Yes. And they sat in my gut like a rock for endless hours. Now I have ONE BITE of someone else's, and chew it until theres no tomorrow.

    I Gained...

I am sorry you've had a tough year. I too eat my emotions. Thanks for your honesty! I needed to read this to know I'm not out to sea in a boat by myself. I've been struggling to eat healthy and really have no other exposure, other than this site, for support. I hope the rest of the holiday season is easier for you.
