Gained 30 Pounds 3 Years Out
Exactly what CC said, you know what you are doing wrong, you came here knowing this was a resource for help, you know how to fix it. I would say that almost the very first thing you should do, besides throwing away all your carbs, is to open a yellow pages and find a therapist IMMEDIATELY. We wouldn't perform our own VSG's and there are professionals out there to help us with our heads, which control everything else. Do you think you could do a 5 day pouch reset? I'd recommend it.

Crying Inwardly, Can't Believe He Said This!
Ha ha Thin, we posted at the exact same time! It looks like you've got this well in hand, *hugs!*

Crying Inwardly, Can't Believe He Said This!
Print out Queen of Crop's post and memorize it! She nailed it. And I am going to take a tac here that may get me flamed but ... Listen to allllll these ladies here (hmm no men I noticed) making alllllll these excuses for men. Oh they are men, the need special consideration for being stupid! Oh, they are limited, it's not their fault! Oh that's just how they are, beef headed and insensitive! f**k. that. ****. (excuse me) We get what we tolerate, as someone on VST once said. Men hold posts as diplomats, politicians, lawyers, therapists, bomb-diffusion experts - don't tell me they don't know how to be thoughtful, have foresight, use their words. But they are also infamous for taking advantage of our pity and sympathies and are notoriously lazy. Also, you've been married for 34 years? So, this guy should know you a little bit, yeah? And vice versa? He knows what buttons to push, he knows how to hurt you. Step back and assess the situation, he had to have known how comments like that would affect you, so in a sense, he did it "on purpose". Now, it could genuinely have been subconscious, but still. So what is going on in his life, that he feels the need to make himself feel better by hurting you? Is this typically how he expresses his anxiety, by making bald statements to get you to react, so that you have the emotions for the both of you? Where you aware of the 10 pounds before he said something? Where you already fretting over them? Lastly, as we all know, 85% of this journey is in the head and just like we wouldn't perform our own VSG's, there are professionals out there to help us with our heads and they are crucial members of our village. Thin - I believe in you, you have been here for my entire journey, we've all got your back.

Need Support From Sleevers 1 Year Or More. Help!
As for the family Flaca, remember this - if Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!! Meals they will like? They can learn to adapt, or go hungry! You got this way because you were always putting yourself last, if you want to change, you've gotta put yourself first, period. The only difference between the way you should be eating and they should be eating is portion - everybody should be eating good Protein, good Fiber, good carb - low crap carbs. I know how difficult it is to not serve bread or tortillas or something with meals, and there will be some whining but - see first sentence! =P broiled fish, steaks, chicken salad, stir-fry, albondigas, chile verde minus the Beans (for me anyway, it still hurts to eat them). Try the ricotta bake recipe, it's lasagne minus the noodles. Also go to a blog called The World According to Eggface, she's got tons of post surgery recipes that non-ops love. =)

Need Support From Sleevers 1 Year Or More. Help!
I gotcha flaca - I am 20 months out and although I am not to goal yet, I have lost 125 lbs. 1. Protein first - this is the motto of vsg and it is important on so many levels, protein is so important, and if you are stuffed to the gills with protein first, you don't have the ability to eat crap. 2.water Water water - not just for hydration but because it gets the fat moving and aids in loss. change your fitness routine - you said you get 2-3 miles a day on treadmill? add an incline of 3 or more, run instead of walk, don't hold the hand rail, wear a backpack, etc. And finally, you said you didn't come here for advice on your marriage. Okay, understandable. However, and I speak from experience, our success in weight loss is intimately tied into our psychological health, which includes relationships with others and ourselves. Therapy is a vital component toward recovery. Hope some of this helps =)

Pimples And Protein
I think that whey protein powder and whey shots are giving me pimples. I already can't eat cheese because of the horrible breakouts I get, and beef too, so this is having an impact on my protein intake. Has anyone else noticed this? Ideas, suggestions?

Being A "non-Responder"
Has anyone heard of being a non-responder? Apparently 1 in 6 individuals show little to no effects from exercise. I mean, they feel good obviously and get stronger but do not show any marked change in weight loss or body composition. Has anybody heard of this and is there any way to counteract it? I'm afraid I might be one, it would explain so much, like how I can put in 7 hours of hard gym time per week doing a wide variety of activities for 6 months and yet see no change in weight nor significant gains in ability or strength. =(

What Is The Difference Between Grazing And Eating Several Small Meals?
So, when are you grazing vs. eating several small meals? I have tea, then a half hour later I eat breakfast, then 2 hours later I drink half a protein shake, then a half hour later have more tea, then an hour later the rest of the shake, then more tea, then lunch about 3 hours after I had breakfast, a snack about 3 hours after lunch, then dinner approx. 4 hours after snack. Is that grazing? Sometimes there is a bedtime snack 2 hours after dinner that helps put me to sleep (sf chocolate pudding cup, the remaining bites of dinner).

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
Coops - Crossfit is this fitness craze here in the States that is super crazy difficult and exhausting, but the people who do it swear by it and it becomes almost a lifestyle. The people I've seen who do it religiously have noticeable results, they look very sculpted and muscley like bodybuilders which isn't what I want but I need a shake up of my workout routine since mine isn't yielding any results =/

Gonna Get To Goal. Wanna Join Me?
Hey y'all, you know what a crazed carb inhaler I am right prior to my cycle, well now having just finished, I'm suddenly devouring protein like it's my job which I guess, it is, lol! I'm eating ground beef, tuna, chicken, and not even dressing them up just eating them which is awesome. But also wierd? And this is off topic but has anybody done Crossfit to help them get to goal and has it worked?

A Day In The Successful Gastric Sleever's Diet/life....
I am 20 months out, 125 lbs down with 40 to go and yesterday looked like this: Breakfast - Protein shake made with unsweetened almond milk and 2 kinds of protein, chocolate powder and mocha espresso powder. A protein shot. lunch - cheeseburger salad. 3 ounce beef patty that I made at home with a slice of cheddar, onion, romaine hearts, pickles, mayo, mustard. A burger without the buns basically. I managed about half of all that so, 1.5 oz ground beef. dinner - the rest of the cheeseburger salad plus a little bacon crumbled in. snack - half a small apple with a serving of Peanut Butter. The snack was an hour before my run. Exercise - 3.2 miles jogging and walking with a friend, done outdoors and talking while keeping up a pace so it was a comprehensive workout. We also stopped to do some chin ups and push ups. Didn't get in enough Water, probably about 32 oz or half of what it should be. I get most of my water in the form of hot non caffeinated herbal tea. There used to be a pinned thread in the food and nutrition section called "What I Ate - Monday" etc., there was one for every day of the week, I liked it because it was encouraging and gave you ideas of what to eat. =)

A Sad Milestone
This may not be the healthiest of advice but if you want to reset your brain but still receive the "pay off" of chemical floods to the brain that your addictions are giving you (dopamine, seratonin, etc.) then run like the dickens on a treadmill or lift something super heavy as fast as you can until you collapse. The chemicals that flood your brain after major workout exertion (like sex) will truly give you a euphoric high just like drugs. Now, addiciton to exercise is a real thing but right now it's the way lesser of several evils and will still provide you with your high so you can gradually ease off of your other substances.

Seasoned Sleevers
Speaking to the topic - I am 20 months out and am still 40 lbs from goal. I am grieved to say that I feel physically as though I can eat anything and eat normal portions. Now, I know that I can eat a lot, but I must also realize that my idea of "a lot" is different than others because I eat out with my friend and he comments on my miniscule appetite. My head hunger is more intense than it has been since surgery, anxiety is up, and in the week prior to my cycle I lose the battle against carbs and binge like a damn junkie. You hear the old saw about, "they operated on our stomachs, not our brains" and that is so very true. I'm terrified of regaining weight, of not making it to goal, and yet I put that doughnut in my mouth, that tiramisu, that snickers. I don't feel supported in my daily life, and it has been so long since I've seen any enouragement from the scale that I've given up there. Last night for dinner I had cheeseburger salad, which is a cheeseburger minus the buns with extra greens. It took me two hours to eat the entire thing, 3.5 oz (after cooking) ground beef, 6 leaves romaine, 2 dill pickles chopped, purple onion, mustard mayo). I should have stopped after I felt the first fullness which would have been after the third bite when I'd only been eating for 15 minutes. But I didn't. They operated on our stomachs.

Seasoned Sleevers
Blackberry - have you tried Click Mocha Protein powder? If you are craving lattes but feel guilty, this is the solution! Some Click, some chocolate Protein Powder, some torani syrup, some sf whip, put it in a fancy container and you would never know the difference between it and something from Starbucks. Plus, every serving of Click has the equivalent of 2 shots of espresso! buzzbuzzbuzz! =)

Breast Loss
Hey, anyone ever try the "chicken cutlets"? I just bought some at Target and in a plunge bra gave me back firm plump cleavage like I haven't had since my early 20's! yay =)

Bummed - 67 Pounds Lost And I Look Just The Same
Cherry you are singing my song! =) I have been b!tch!n' about this from the beginning. What somebody at the top of the thread said is true, plus size clothes will fit you for 20 pounds, regular sizes about 10. I was still wearing pre-op trousers well past the 50 lbs lost mark and I have a pre-op shirt that I wore to work last week, I've lost 128 pounds! I have a pair of bootcut cords from JCrew in a 12P that I have been wearing for THIRTY pounds now, wtf!=P I found them at a thrift shop for $4 (mega score since they go for $75 new). I had just crossed into one-derland and at 194 lbs I had also officially joined the century club (surgery day weight 294. So those pants mean a lot to me and even though they literally cut off circulation they were so tight lol, I was able to zip and button them and it felt amazing! Obviously they were too tight so, like someone said in this thread, it makes sense that I could lose weight and they would still fit. But it has been 30 pounds now and they are still a little snug IMO, I'm pretty sure that it will take another 20 pounds at least before they are visibly baggy and maybe 30 pounds before they are unwearable which will mean that I will have been wearing the same pair of trousers for SIXTY pounds, wahhh?!!!

Apparently My Body Can't Live Without Carbs
The week before my cycle there aren't enough carbs in the universe and I want every last one of them, be they from doughnuts, snickers bars, chips n dip, I'm a complete crazed carb maniac. Once the dust settles though, lol, they aren't as desirable to me. That said, when I try to go very low carb <30 I am ... unpleasant to be around, to put it mildly. That coupled with very low calorie <800 and I feel like what I imagine withdrawals to be like, shaking, shivering, headache, lethargy, heart palpatations, nausea, all of it! Carbs have a very drug-like effect on my body and mind, more so than sugar, carbs can actually manipulate my mood, which is a little creepy...
