    jacks home, after surgery

goodlife, you are not alone...that is the same post-op diet my bf is on too! He was also sleeved on 4/28. But, the good news is that he has not been hungry. At least nothing that jello or s/f popsicle didn't satisfy.
  2. Hi! He is doing great! We had his one week check up today, 15lbs lost in one week!! He has another check up in two weeks, which the doctor estimates him to lose another 25lbs. He is doing really good. His only compliant is pain in his lower back. From what I have read, it takes some people longer to get rid of the CO2 than others. He said other than the lower back pain he feels fine. Don't get me wrong, he does get tired faster than normal but that is to be expected. For example, he went with me yesterday to Walmart and by the time we got to the check out he was ready to go (of course he is not a fan of going to walmart anyways). He gets to start thicker liquids this week but he really hasn't been too hungry. He can eat a half cup of Jello and that fills him up. If you have any questions feel free to ask. We have been very pleased with Dr Borland.

  3. thanks for the tip on flavoring the pain meds...doc told bf he could "cut" it with a little bit of water, but he still says how nasty it is. Glad to see that the sleeve group of 4/28 is doing good!!!
  4. The bf was sleeved yesterday (4/28) by Dr Borland in New Iberia. He is doing great. His surgery was at 9:00 and we were discharged around 6:00pm. The doc does "house calls" (also gives you his home number, pager and cell), so doc came by to check his vitals, etc. Since we do not live in New Iberia, we had to stay in a hotel in the area so the doc could come by. The doc will come back in the morning to check again and send us home. Bf has been doing really good. No nausea, but he did have a hard cough that caused him to gag which made him "throw up" some mucus. Besides for that, he is up walking around, takes his pain med about every 4 to 5 hours which is usually followed by a 2 hour nap each time. Just now he got the hiccups, he said those really hurt! He had back pain and soreness but that is from the surgery. That has been the only real pain he has experienced. Dr Borland is extremely nice, returns his calls and answers however many questions we may have. The staff at the surgerical center is top-notch. The bf's nurse was absolutley amazing, love her!! If anyone is considering Dr Borland, we highly recommend him...very satisfied!
  5. BJean...He is a little nervous, but his is more over the actually surgery itself. He has never had surgery of any type, (still has his tonsils and wisdom teeth...lol)! I think I'm more concerned about the nausea and pain...I don't like that I won't be able to do much to make him feel better. I've read A LOT so I think I'm prepared, got the liquid tylenol, the Gas-X strips, chewable vitamins, a pill crusher, pepcid, etc....I think I have it all covered, lol. Keep me updated!! :tongue_smilie:
  6. I compared the two websites size charts and it appears that a size 5 would be right between a 20/22 at Old Navy, on average. With the new sizing at LB the measurements vary just a little depending on what color fit, yellow, red or blue.
  7. My bf is having surgery on 4/28 also. I've been the one looking up info and taking notes on what's the "best" tasting proteins, the "best" antiacid, etc. He doesn't have the time to read the forums. I've shared everything I've read on here with him, it has helped us both, a lot. Although I am not the one being sleeved, I am going to do the post-op diet with him. I feel we will both be successful by being a team!!
  8. my bf is getting sleeved in two weeks by Dr Borland, but he knows several ppl that have been sleeved by Dr Borland and they sing his praises. We went for the consultation at the beginning of the week, he was extremely nice. I'll keep you posted. I see you are from Raceland, we are in Morgan City
  9. Dr Thomas Borland in New Iberia, Louisiana is highly recommended; cost $9800.00
