  1. I think what you are going thru is only natural.....but at least the surgery is relatively short compared to others, and I think you just have to have faith in the tool they will be providing you with. I went thru all the same thoughts about I'll be the one person it doesn't work for etc.... like many others I bet. Focus on other things instead - try on your whole wardrobe and get rid of anything too big..... you'll not be needing them. I have a shedload of clothes which fitted me on the way up, or I bought thinking they would fit me from 2nd hand shops (and they don't!)...... so I tried them all one again, got rid of any BAD decisions, and kept the ones I still liked. I went thru the kitchen and found it quite therapeutic going thru everything..... stripping out the 'bad' foods.... Good luck - let us know when you get your date, we're here for you!! Kathy
  2. Oh I will......anything else than this! lol Kathy
  3. Pcindy - 3 weeks? Be strong babe..... I did one week and found that bearable.....it sounds like you have your head in the right place tho.....this is a long term thing, and the more you can shift during pre op the better. I figured with mine that hubby paid for the op (from inheritance money) and the least I could do to honor the relative was stick to my side of the bargain and be 100%. If they opened you up then said not doing it you'd be gutted..... so i do think your advice to follow a vague pre op is a good one. It can't hurt anyway!! Good luck with your 3 weeks..... we're here for you, when you want to cheat come and post on here and we'll put you off bigtime!! Kathy
  4. Good to hear you're doing well.... but 3 days to get home????!!!! OMG!! Don't envy you that one... you must be so relieved to be there now. Take it easy Kathy
  5. Ahhhhh Cavy - thats such a nice comment! Kathy
  6. Great words - very inspirational... thanks. Kathy
  7. Terri - this is great news.... I'm so glad you sorted it out....each day just gets better and better eh?! Go for it babe!! Kathy PS - the ticker thing - ain't happening... you might wanna check it out again.
  8. Its such a shame your friend hasn't been as caring....but don't loose heart, remember all the reasons why you are doing this. Your sister is scared because she loves you....and if anything like mine, may well not even see weight as being an issue...your family love you for who you are, no matter what size. Do take care, and you'll be fine.... tell them you're concerned, and see if they can give you some pre med to calm you down a bit if youre worried. Good luck - let us know as soon as you can how it goes Kathy
  9. Thanks - I'm doing much better.... although still incredibly swollen - almost an extra 2 inches around my waist!! Managing to get the fluids in, and walking but also taking it carefully.... so bring it on!! Kathy
  10. Thats a good tip - thanks Tiff - I'll tuck that one away for the future.....:biggrin0: Kathy
  11. Good point, its not like I want to lie, but I don't want everyone to know.
  12. I was toying with either gall bladder removal (which for me it wasn't) or having my tubes tied.... which can also be done with the chop sticks (as hubby calls it). As he has had the snip theres no way we can have kids anyway....so still trying to decide at the moment.....although I like the ulcerated stomach one.....I might have to borrow that one.....which would explain the smaller stomach.....less appetite...... Good thread! Kathy
  13. Thats a great result. Well done!! Keep up the good work Kathy
  14. And me... I'll scoot now too!! So good to hear shes doing ok....every day she'll feel a little bit better.... watch out for the rainbow from the IV as well!! Thanks for update Alan Kathy
  15. I asked the chemist and there is another one which is dissolving.... so will ask Dr if i can swap just for the first month.... really don't think I can do 2 of those a day!!
  16. Thanks for letting us know Alan - I've been thinking about her all day hoping it all went well. The next 24hrs are the worst but they soon pass.....Please tell her from me 'A huge congratulations.' I sympathise with the IV issue - I look like a junkie from the state of my arm!! Looking forward to seeing her back on the board to report how she is doing. Shes gonna storm this one!! Best wishes for a speedy recovery Kathy

  18. I'm not that far out from the op and have to take Nexium every 12 hours. Can I ask anyone else who is taking this - can you swallow it? It tastes foul if you crush it - no wonder they sugar coat the pill!!! I thought of breaking it in half and then trying, but my head says don't!! I will ask my Dr on Wednesday when I see him if theres a dissolving one I can use instead as the taste goes thru anything I try and take it in. Ever hopeful Kathy
  19. Ok - I have to ask - did you get a dvd of your op? And secondly.... did you watch it? I've got mine but not watched it yet...... kinda squeamish to do so at the moment..... Kathy
  20. Good idea - thats what I did and IMO you can never have too much information. My Dr was quite surprised at the questions I asked.... as i don't think anyone else bothered to research it that much, but its such an important decision I liked to know what I was putting myself up against. Good luck with your decision Kathy
  21. Maybe its from the tubes for the operation and the anaesthetic? I have a sore throat and a raspy voice, although not too bad, and we are about the same timings. I still have a lot of gas pains and my back is sore ( I think from over compensating for protecting my stomach area! - so I'm walking a little hunched over... but each day it seems a little easier.) Hope this helps! Kathy
  22. Christie - well done!! I'm looking forward to being a lot more active and maybe participating in something next year. Keep up the good work Kathy
  23. I bought myself a smaller version of our dinner plates.... so when I am able to 'eat' then I'll serve myself my food on that. But I like the bento box idea for a picnic.... Kathy
