  1. I went to my pre-op today and was told that for six weeks I can't take the anti-depressant I'm on because it can't be crushed. I had talked to my psychiatrist before the appt. and I was able to get something that dissolved for my other med. I'm so frustrated because I've tried so many and that one really works. Is anyone on an anti-depressant that they can take the first 6 weeks after surgery?
  2. Okay, I know I'm being whiney and frustrated.... but I need some advice from those ahead of me. I had my one week follow up 2 days ago and my Protein and Fluid intake was increased to 60 grams and 60 oz. I can't fathom how to get it, since I could barely get in 40. I can have cream Soup but if I'm only having 2-4 oz a few times a day how do you figure the protein? I'm drinking Isopure (which makes me thirsty) and trying to get the 40 grams( which takes all day) from that because the milky Protein drinks I just can't get down. Since I'm still fatigued in the afternoon they said to make sure I get it all in. I'm sipping constantly but get the hiccups all the time. Doesn't that mean I'm doing it too fast or too much? All in all, I'm whiney, crabby and frustrated. Help?!

    Whiney....need advice

Thank you so much. I hadn't heard yet of the nectar drinks so I will try them. I just tried the unflavored in grape Crystal Light but I could still taste it and it smelled awful.....maybe it's all in my head, so I'll try again with a different flavor.

Wannalise - I just wanted to thank you so much for your reply. You are the only one who seemed to have any advice and I really appreciate it!!

    So, tomorrow...

Yea....that's great. You will do great!
  8. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and went back the following Monday. I was sore and got tired towards the end of the day. But is was definitely doable.

    Yeah, ouch! first day post-op

I was sore for a couple of days and took my pain meds. I don't think there is any shame in taking them. I know I kind of felt like I shouldn't need them because I read others didn't need them. We are all different so if you need them for a few days take it. It does get better!
  10. I am so sorry and can imagine your frustration. But how awesome you have 100% coverage! Hang in there.

    New and have questions

I'm only a week out and still tired in the afternoon evening. Otherwise I feel great. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and was back at work on the following Monday.

    Potato soup for full liquids

I start full liquids tomorrow and can't wait. This sounds great. How much did you all eat? 2 oz-4 oz?
  15. I felt the same way. Sometimes I still feel that way and I have been sleeved for a week. I'm sure it will seem real for both of us real soon!
  16. Congrats! If you stuck it out for the appeal, I know you can do the pre-op! Hang in there!
  17. Thank you all so much! Today's almost a week and I'm feeling good. I've discovered that the Isopure, which I couldn't stand before surgery, I can drink now. Yesterday got closer to my Protein amount and today I think I might make it. Phatcurves, thanks for that idea. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow.
  18. Yea, I finally got sleeved on Tuesday. The first day home was awful but every day has been a little bit easier. I was told I had the glue on my incisions but found when I took the bandages off there were staples! I guess I'll get those out in my one week post -op.

    Need help please. x

My pre-op diet was only 7 days so just keep on focusing on how close you are and that you can do it! One thing that helped me was making a list of all the things I wanted and how my life would be different after I lost weight and became healthier. Then during those times when I thought I couldn't do it anymore I would read over the list. You can do it!
  20. Thanks everybody! Goodlife, I know I'm not getting enough fluids. I'm really trying and it's getting better. Yesterday I got 35 grams of protein and that was day 5. I'm just finding that any of the ready to drink proteins I just can't stand. If it's powder and I mix it then it's better. I'm supposed to be getting 40 grams of protein and 48oz of fluid. The closest I've gotten is 30 oz of fluid. But I'm walking so much my neighbors must think I am crazy!

    2 days since sleeve

I had my sleeve on Tuesday and know what you mean about that gross stuff to test for leaks. Mine came right back up after the test. My stomach makes all the gurgly sounds too and I am living on chewable Gas X. I'll swear by walking because it really helps with the gas also. Hang in there!

    surgery date!

Congrats you are on your way!
  23. So I'm on day 4 of the pre-op liquids and have doing really well. The only thing is that my mouth feels so dehydrated, especially my tongue. What's with that? I mean I am drinking plenty of water in addition to my protein drinks. Has anyone else felt this?
  24. Thanks so much! At least I know there is an end to this. I'll definitely get the strips.
  25. Congratulations! For someone is just a few days from surgery your story is very inspiring! Way to go and I'm sure you will look great in that swimsuit!
