  1. Wow, these are all such wonderful heartfelt replies. To add my two cents; I fill up easily and when I am full and everyone else is still eating I never want more. I was never full and satiated before the sleeve, I have zero regrets. I also absolutely agree with Anna's last three sentences, as much as I wanted to lose weight I knew even as I planned it that it was not going to happen. Such a sad, sad way to live!

    looking for a snack

Pork rinds were one of the FEW foods I did not eat pre-op but I love them now! I love to heat them up in the microwave. Do not heat them in plastic or on a paper plate though, I about ran everyone out of the conference room at work two days last week while I was having my daily pork rind fest!

    Hungry after surgery

I came out of surgery starving and it continued for probably 4 months (maybe acid, never did take anything for it). It is better now (5 1/2 months out) but I do experience real hunger, I have learned to ignore it (if it is not time to eat) and it goes away. I also had a period of time where I had VERY loud stomach sounds which was amusing. Not sure what it is about my sleeve that allows me to ignore hunger because I was NEVER able to do that before. This surgery has been an incredible blessing to me.

    A little about me

Welcome Kris! Sounds like you are doing great, I am sure you will love your sleeve.
  9. It is such a personal decision but I told/tell everyone. I am an elementary school secretary in a close knit school district, everyone in every building and admin know about my surgery. When school started this year I had parents say "Wow, you look great" and I tell them "Thank you, I had weight loss surgery and had 85% of my stomach removed, no bypass" I realize that is a lot of info to just put out there but I have had a few employees and parents express interest. I have also had two people ask if they could have a friend (considering lapband) contact me. I am 50 and finally at the point in my life where I seriously do not care what their opinion is, I have had all positive reactions. On a more personal note I would absolutely hate for any overweight person to think that I am doing this on my own. I tried my whole life and it was NEVER going to happen for me without this surgery. I don't want others to feel that they are just not trying hard enough or wondering what they are doing wrong, I hated that feeling :confused1: I feel great and look much better and sharing the information has worked for me. Good luck with your decision!
  10. Oh my gosh Anna, your weight loss is ASTOUNDING and you look AMAZING!!!

  11. Like you I had absolutely no gas and very little pain. I am so glad things are going so well and you will be amazed at how quickly you will feel better and how quick the weight will come off.

    I <3 the Thrift Store

Congratulations on your deals, I need to try the thrift stores, this is getting expensive!
  17. Hey! I hate that you are feeling nervous before your surgery but of course I was the same way. What a great gift you are giving yourself and your family. I used to stay home so much because I didn't feel like being seen or well enough to walk around, so it really is a gift to everyone in your life because I am out constantly now. You asked why I chose Hoehn and I did because he was running the special, had a wonderful reputation and the main reason is that he has the Bariatric Center of Excellence rating. Ohio State University is right down the street from me and is a Bariatric Center of Excellence but I saved $9000.00 by traveling to Kansas. That included all of my expenses and I stayed in Kansas for 10 nights. You are in such good hands and I am so happy that you are close and will be able to attend support meetings. Try to stay busy and stay calm!

    March 2010 Sleevers

Hey Everybody! I am down 60 lbs, I hit onederland and have gone from a 30/32 to an 18/20. Scale was not moving for quite a while but my clothes were still getting loose so I tried not to freak out. I have been working out quite a bit and figure that I was building some muscle back up that I had lost over the last few years. It is moving again so YIPPEE! Gosh I love being sleeved! So glad everyone is doing so amazingly well!
  20. Hey! I see you have your surgery date, how EXCITING! Wow, 17 days and you will be sleeved and you have such an incredible surgeon, I really think that helps a lot. I am so happy for you!

  21. Wow Renee, that is so exciting! You will be sleeved before you know it. I am losing slowly but surely, I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome so that really slows your weight loss. I am sure you will lose much faster than I am. I love being sleeved it is so easy! You can eat food that you have always eaten in much smaller quantities and you can still lose weight. Let me know when you get your date, Hoehn is wonderful!
