It is nice to have people to be accountable too, and read and talk to people that know what your going through. I feel like nov-today has been my 3 month break and I need to get back on track. I weight recently and gained 5lbs and it was the worst feeling ever, like I felt like I let myself down. But yet, still that wasn't enough of a wake up call to get my butt back on track. I go see my surgeon Monday for a check up and I'm going to have to face reality and confess to him that I have hit a plateau. I feel like it's normal, but at the same time it's hard not to be hard on yourself.

Don't ever let someone opinion offend you. Smile at them and say God bless you. God made us all different shapes and sizes. Most of us that are overweight are just not happy with ourselves and want the healthy body. You are beautiful and from your post I can tell you have a good heart. Stay strong and don't let society's a pinion of you dictate who you are and how God made you.
As for me, my BMI is in the low 30's. Im 5'9 235, being in law enforcement it's a priority to be healthy bc your life and others depends on you being able to take care of yourself in a critical situation. Not exercising and bad eating habits got me in the situation I'm in now. I got approved for the sleeve due to borderline diabetes, HBP AND my ridiculous cholesterol levels and a few more health problems. I've tried diets, I exercise 4 times a week and nothing changes. My stomach is never full, I never seem to be satisfied with one sweet or snack, my body wants more junk food.
One thing that I have to be able to realize and we all should, changing our eating habits and excising properly will keep us healthy. The sleeve will help us, but it takes dedication and hard work to keep us out of the situation were in now. WE ALL CAN DO IT! PRAY FOR EVERYONE THAT GOD BLESSES MAKING A BIG LEAP GETTING THE SLEEVE. KEEP US ON TRACK FOR A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE AND LONG LIFE AHEAD!!!

I have heard the exact same thing and it bothers me, too! My mom, who claims to be supportive says this a lot. Then she'll say "just don't lose too much weight or you'll look sickly". Honestly I think it makes her feel better that I'm fat! Every time she says something about me not being "that" fat I just tell her that both my doctors and I disagree or I ask her if I should just wait until I am "that" fat. I also received the same response from a co-worker that I told which is why I haven't told anyone else at work-it's my business and no one else's. You shouldn't second guess yourself-you're doing this to get healthy and lose your extra weight!

I've been sleeved for 12 hours now. I'm skinny now!
Well, not 100%, but I'm now officially on my way.
I can't wait to buy clothes, go swimming with my shirt off, and fit on amusement park rides!
I literally almost didn't go through with it, as my cold feet got pretty icy as the surgery day approached. I was worried about:
A.Dying on the table B.Never eating again C.Missing my (unhealthy) receipt of drawer. D.Not being able to drink alcohol or handle myself in social situations.
I kept thinking "yes, but I'm 331lbs now. I could be 400lbs in 2 years. I'm virtually guaranteed to get Diabetes. I've got 5 young kids, & DAMN IT, I'M GOING TO BE AROUND FOR THEM!"
The positives WAY out-weighed the negatives. I just did it.
I was only in surgery for a little less than an hour. When I woke up in recovery, the pain was SEVERE. I kept thinking "what have I done?" It got easier & easier? By 7:30PM (4 1/2 hours) I was up walking, AND IT FELT GREAT! I went for a longer walk around midnight. Feels great to get up & move.
I know I've got some difficult days ahead of me, & I still hope & pray that I've done the right thing, but I feel that I have.

Today I hit my goal that I set at my first appointment with the surgeon, in December 2012. My doc thinks I should have a goal of 135, but I kind of like where I am now. I'm really kind of excited about it. I am so grateful for this sleeve!

Hey Leo... I'm soooooo not the poster child for these things! Before surgery, 64oz of Fluid was relatively easy in a day but I DID practice the idea of not having anything to drink 1/2 hour before eating and for 1/2 hour after. Now, post-op... it came down to how "Sleevie Wonder" was feeling. My tummy empties Water after about 20 minutes but how long after I eat to drink again is totally dependent on the density of what I've eaten. For instance, I can drink Water again pretty soon when having yogurt... but it took about 45 minutes last night before there was room for water after I had some chicken for dinner.
Yes, all these wait times DO cut into your drinking times and you won't be perfect at first (well, most are not). It's a balancing act.
As for the shakes... I'm SOOOOOOO the wrong person to ask. I LOVED them before and right after surgery. About ten days ago though my sleeve said "NO WAY CHICA!". So, I've been struggling with Protein ever since. Yes, it's a necessity and just because you like it (or don't!) right now... your sleeve and tastebuds may change your mind later.

    1. I always aim for 70+ grams of Protein.
    2. 112 oz of Water everyday without fail!
    3. Always make healthy food choices and 45 min of cardio 4-5 dys a week.
    That's it. That's what I do.

I'm 13 weeks out and just started having salad. Prior to surgery, I used to pile it with all my favorites, and I can't do that anymore. Now, I usually go for the turkey, boiled egg, cheese, and cottage cheese. I can only eat a small portion of it, and wind up feeling hungry 2 hours later! But I know what you mean about missing it.

Since losing 50 pounds I've had more a few coworkers/clients comment on my boobs getting smaller. First of all, what the hell?! Second of all, I never really had much to begin with! They have not gotten smaller. If they were smaller, why comment on that?!? Why can't people just be happy for me?

HI, I haven't posted in a long time. Guess I am not much of a blogger so here goes: Feb 27 it will be one year. down 52 lbs and have about 34 to go to next goal. I am happy I made the decision to have VS instead of RNY. I feel great and get lots of compliments I look healthy and have a healthy glow. started at 247 now at 194 and would love to be near 160, will see after that. But that said. I paid and went to WW for 8 years and played the numbers game. Promised I would not do it this time around. These numbers I posted are just to give readers an idea where I am at, but mean nothing to me. With the exception I am under 200 for the first time in 29 years and feel great. I love finding new ways to mix Protein with fruits and veggies. i.e. pureed chick peas in mini pumpkin muffins. My latest is trying to substitute those glasses of wine for a healthy smoothie. I have a sister that had RNY in Sept starting wt 199lbs and now in the 140's. We used to look similar. Besides she is 2 inches shorter( I'm 5'2) , now she has saggy skin, bald head and looks more like a recovering cancer patient. Unfortunately coming from a big family, lots of comparing. But I am strong, will see when we are in our 70's how that 's all working for her. I feel confident in the decisions I have made and mostly have learned to make myself the most important person putting myself first. Good luck to all. Have a great day. will post soon!

Such good info here! I am happy to report that I bought a suit and will begin Water aerobics in our faculty fitness program at the university I work at when spring term starts. It's only $65 for the 10 weeks, and three weekly sessions that are an hour long. Seems quite reasonable! I can't wait!

My shoes are looser and I'm thrilled. Halfway through my pregnancy last year my work shoes (loafer style) wouldn't fit anymore. When I went back to work they still didn't fit and I was screaming and throwing them across the room. I was probably 2-3 months out til I could even get in them anymore. Now I'm a month out from surgery and can slip them on no problem!

I've definitly noticed my shoes get loser. I had put on some weight the year before surgery and my shoes had gotten too tight one me that i couldn't even wear them. I remember crying and feeling so badly and that was one of the things that pushed me to surgery. Any way those shoes fit loosely not even with thick socks!! And I'm hoping I lose even more. I've always ha extra big and wide feet (12 or 13 extra wide) so it would be great to be able to fit into a regular 11 one day! I think I would pass out haha

I thought I was going to get away without my feet shrinking, but in the last couple weeks I have noticed that my feet have gotten narrower. The shoe size is the same, but all my shoes and sandals are way to loose. Add new shoes to go with a whole new wardrobe. It gets expensive, but gee, what a wonderful problem to have!!!

Valentine's Day will be 5 months for me and right now I'm at 169 (hello 160's!!). I started at 232, so that's about 12 lbs. average per month. It doesn't really come off in an even way, though. Sometimes I'll go for a week or two not losing and then lose 2 or 3 lbs. in a week. I'm thrilled to have lost 63 lbs. and it just freaks me out that I have 29 lbs. to go to reach my goal.
