  1. Definitely consult with the surgeons - if you can get the other adults in your life to do the heavy lifting for you and you feel confident then by all means, but if there's even an inkling that something isn't right, reschedule. I'm sure if you talk to the surgeons, they'll find a spot for you in the very very near future. Glad you're all safe - let us know if you need anything - clothes, etc - I'm more than happy to help in any way I can.
  2. Well, normal is based on the situation - and since we're all in the same boat, you're probably the most normal of the normalest! I'm overly OBSESSED with it
  3. glad to hear you're on the path to recovery! Glad you have a very attentive nurse too! I hope you get some rest and get some good walks in! Keep us up to date!
  4. I'm the day after you too! congrats and we'll meet you on the losers bench! Let us know if you have any questions we can help with!!!
  5. 5 more days for me!!!!
  6. Glad you're feeling better!
  7. ugh! so scary! so glad you're ok! so glad I didn't get the lap band!
  8. Well, we are always here! If you need someone to talk to - PM me and I'll give you my phone number. You DESERVE to be supported for bettering your health!
  9. awesome job! so happy for you!!!! I love running in the rain :smile1:
  10. Ok, in exploring for recipes for post-op, I found this site and it has a TON of great recipes that are pre-portioned and pretty much all under 150 cals and many are high protein/low carb options - and even the ones that aren't can be made that way. http://www.emilybites.com/ Enjoy!
  11. You've definitely hit a wall and it sounds like your husband helped propel you there. Have you asked him what his deal is? Try and stay strong, but if you can't, call your surgeon and move your surgery out a week if it makes you feel comfortable. However, I don't know if your husband will get any better giving him more time to trip you up. Was he supportive before?
  12. Found all of my old clothes - I kept the ones that are standards - and they're not that old - 4 years isn't a long time for business suits and the like. Lots of pencil skirts and jackets. I had a great time going through them. I found a belt that I bought on a trip the week before i got sick - when I was at my optimal health. You can see on the belt where i wore it at. I have set this aside as my goal. Its not about a number on the scale, I wanna wear that belt again! It was fun to go through all of the clothes and remember wearing them and focusing on wearing them again I have every size between where I'm at now and a size 6
  13. How did your body do with carbs pre-surgery? I only ask because my body doesn't respond to carbs - never has. I just wonder if its going to change. I hope not!

    so excited! yay!
  15. I think that's part of it! I have an Ann Klein suit (one of my favorites!) that was a size 8. It fit me perfectly. I had clothes that were a size 16 that I couldn't even get my butt into! It was crazy. I have a pair of jean shorts that, the tag says a size 20, but if I hold them up to a pair of men's pants that are a size 32, they're smaller than that. I typically wear mens jeans because i can get an inseam long enough (I have a 33 inch inseam so I go with 34's) Mens clothing sizes haven't changed because they're measured by the actual waist. There's a conversion chart somewhere of what womens clothes should be in mens' sizes, I'll have to find that.
  16. that would absolutely sicken me to see that every day like you do I love my cows!
  17. Take a deep breath. There have been stalls much longer than the one you're on now. There are plenty of posts on this board about stalls - you just completely changed your body and it has to have a chance to get used to it. Maybe change things up on what you're eating - go back to liquids for a few days and see if that helps. Its been hammered into our brains that a calorie in is equal to a calorie burned. That is SO NOT TRUE. Put the scale somewhere that you can't get to it for a week and see what happens. Hang in there! You know you're absolutely doing what you're supposed to, so its just your body playing catchup, would be my guess. Definitely see the doc - its always good to follow up Rooting for you!!!!

Holy crow! One week left and I'll be on the losers bench! The best part about the losers bench is, because we're all shrinking, there's always room being made I'm excited and a tad nervous, as anyone would be - but mostly anxious to just GET. THE. BALL. ROLLING. Its been a looooooong time coming! Couldn't sleep last night - usually about once a month I get a week where I just plain don't sleep. Looks like its this week - so I'll be tired before surgery, which means I'll sleep well after and recover nicely Keeping positive thoughts! Tomorrow starts my completely all liquid diet. I've been working my way to it, trying to make it easier - hopefully that has helped. I did have a little bit of a "food funeral" last night - had a couple of biscuits at Ruby tuesday with my chicken and mushrooms. Couldn't finish it all so the rest was lunch today - but I stayed low fat and did well Not really a funeral but maybe a nostalgic look back? lol. Game On!
  19. awesome! Having grown up literally raising our own beef, I can understand what you're saying. I'm a carnivore, through and through. Everything I eat, I know where it came from and I got it from its natural state myself (save eating in restaurants). I'm a firm believer in knowing where you food comes from. I can't stand people who just think meat comes from a grocery store and not from an animal. We started out raising cattle just to feed ourselves then our herd grew out of interest from people in the community. We raise antibiotic, fully organic grass fed with local hay added beef. Every cow is what most people would consider spoiled. From the time the calf is born, to the time we thank them for what they give us and we harvest them, they are treated with the dignity they deserve. Its very important to us that its done this way. Its the same for our hunting practices. Its desperately important for us to make sure animals don't suffer when you're harvesting them and that every ounce is used in some way. Just the way I was raised. I get SICK when I see people leaving carcasses in the woods or see cows crammed into a small space. We fence our cows but they get an entire acre PER COW. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience!
  20. everyone is going to lose differently - thyroid issues, total weight needed to lose, how much protein you get in, etc. I'm hoping to be in the 30 lbs a month range but I know I won't be right away. Got some other stuff to deal with first. Just happy to be in line for the losers bench!
  21. I'm fortunate in that people in my family basically know not to argue with me. If I've made up my mind about something then I've done my research and I know what i'm doing. It doesn't mean that they like it, they just don't argue with me about it. However, i haven't told most of them because I don't feel like being the topic of conversation in their little fruitless minds. They have a tendancy to talk behind people's backs and spread rumors and cause all kinds of chaos. Not something I want my medical issues to be a part of - I learned that when I told them I had Wilson's Disease (I felt obligated since its a genetic thing, thankfully none of them have it!)
  22. yeah I've got a 5 day liquid diet. Not too big a deal
  23. I am! I am! YAY!!!!! So is Oahu Firewater!
  24. congrats! I do have a question - are you a vegetarian by choice or is it a medical decision? I'm always curious about why people are vegetarians or vegans. Not knocking it - just a curiosity I have
  25. Your personal wishes should be in order at all times - whether having surgery or not. You're more likely to get hit by a bus today than die during surgery, but its always a possibility. It sounds like either they don't want you to succeed or they are just uninformed and scared. If YOU feel you're doing the right thing, that's all that matters. My fear is that your boyfriend not being supportive is going to create resentment toward him later when you are successful. Might be something to bring up to him.
