Lump Under Incision
I wore a belt my husband had for his back the first few weeks. It has velcro on it and is about 6 inches wide, you can put it on tight or loose,I even slept in it. I noticed when I took it off each day to shower that it really helped to suck my stomach in. After I had my first fill my Doctor pressed on the port to put the needle in and since then the port seems to have moved back so I don't notice it so much.

I am from Utah
Your age is not an issue I am 58 and I had it done.Dr. McKeen is great. I feel the extra $500 was worth it. You have support any time you need it by phone and you are not charged. Office visits are usually for a fill and they are $100 for the first one and $200 there after. E-mail me anytime for more info.

Angeleyes was banded on Tuesday
Update. I have lost 10 pounds in the last month. I am struggling, when I read about some of you losing twice what I have. I lose the weight when I am on liquids and then when I go back to solid food I gain. I have this weird thing going on with my throat. I eat anything solid and it lodges in my throat. Now tell me what that is all about????? Nothing was done to my throat. I had 3 times during the last week when I thought I was going to throw up. Just had slime coming up. It almost feels like a muscle contracting in there. If I wait a few minutes and hang my head over the sink and let the slime come up it will finally start moving down my throat. I don't think I am taking to big of bites or eating to quickly. But who knows. I have had one fill. What are your suggestions.

Telling or Not
I had my husband with me so he knows, I told one friend and one of my four children. No one has noticed any changes. I have had problems losing, only 10 pounds but I am only out 5 weeks. I am glad no one at work knows because they would be watching me eat.

Do fills hurt? What is the process?

cramping?
I used a binder that my husband had used for a back problem. It has velcro and is about 6 inches wide. It felt sooooo good. I even slept with it the first week. It seemed to hold everything in and I noticed that when I wore it, it seemed to take the swelling out of my stomach.

Cowgirl, I can take capsules ok but I think we need to check with our Doctor's about anything that needs to be crushed. Some medications can be but others cannot.

Nausea and medication questions
I had alot of problems with nausea after surgery but I told the Dr. that I had problems in the past and he had them give me meds before the surgery and then right after. They also used a patch that they put behind my ear. It only lasted about 4-5 hours and I was still at the surgery center. After I got up and moving it seemed to get better. I also picked up meds to take home with me so I have it on hand.

I am from Utah
I am doing well. I just got my first fill and it was painless. I have lost 9.5 pounds since surgery, so I am using that weight as my first month weight loss.I am just hoping I can do as well next month. I need to start walking to keep the numbers up though. I got the info on McKeens group but have not had much time to go in there yet. I have no issues about my surgery. Just be ready not to feel too great the first day or two. I went back to work in 5 days and did ok.

Forget Mexico only $10,500 @ The WISH Center
I had mine done in Provo Utah for $12,500, fills are $100 for the first and $200 there after. Plus you don't have the stress of flying out of the country, you have more peace of mind on the safety issues and you also have great after care. To me it was worth the extra money.

I am from Utah
Glad to hear from you. I am stuggling right now. I was banded two weeks ago tomorrow. I lost 8 pounds during the liquid diet. But I have started adding solid food and have gained back 2 pounds. I am trying to eat mostly proteins and I am having trouble drinking the water. Not really hungry and not much energy. The Surgery went well. Just had some problems with nausea for about 6 hours and maybe a little over medicated. Was really sleepy for the first 4-6 hours after surgery. I left the surgery center after about 5 hours and went to a motel.

Angeleyes was banded on Tuesday
Thanks you guys, that made me feel good to be remembered! I had my Surgery on April 5 in Provo Utah. I had alot of problems with nausea but every one at the Surgical Center helped me get through it. I am so impressed with Dr McKeen and the Surgical Center. I spent the night at a hotel and my husband drove me home the next day. I am still having the bloated feeling, the pain in my shoulders is gone. My stomach has 5 tapes on it and I am not that sore there, just bloated. I am still on liquids and have lost about 1 pound a day. At times I feel hunger but then drink some juice and them I am fine.I am working on getting my water amount increased. I returned to work today and I am really tired, will be glad to get home and lay down. I kind of feel like I have been given something so precious. That I need to take care of it and it will take care of me! See ya!

I am from Utah
It is great to hear from someone who is a little closer to my home. I enjoy any advise anyone can give me because I don't know anyone other than people on here who have had this surgery. I have two people I could talk to who have had bypass, but that is really not the same. I am putting things together for next tuesday and have just about everything in place. Just wondering how I am going to feel the day after surgery. I don't plan on telling anyone except my husband. I am going in to the city the day before and will be there two nights in a Hotel. It is close to the surgery center. Thanks again.

I worry too, but I feel I have tryed alot of things that don't work and this sounds like something I can do. My biggest thing is Diet Coke, I was drinking 8 a day and I am now down to one. I need to find something to replace it and I desided to get with the water thing. I have never liked to drink it but I am going to drink alot starting today. I am trying to stay busy but thinking alot. Think positive!

April 2005 Bandsters
Hi, I just got my surgery scheduled for April 5 with Dr McKeen in Orem Utah. I am really excited, had planed to go to Mexico but just couldn't go that far knowing I didn't have anything set up here for after care. I will be self pay and will be soooooo broke. But I feel it is worth it. I weight 210 and am 5'5", am having lots of self esteem problems. I would love to hear from any of you who will be close to my weight and having surgery anywhere close to my date. Now I need to read everthing on these boards to find out what to have on hand when I get home.

What I Concluded
Did you notice that after using the CPAP machine that you were able to lose any weight? I am having testing done and will probably need to use one. One of the things in the paperwork said that it would help with weight loss????
