Today I went to my LB doc and he wanted to take out the 2ccs that were there. But it was awful to take out!! He couldn't get a good shot to my port, so he had me move in a sorts of positions and it was like when they try to do a blood draw and can't find the vein!! YOUCH!! but he took it out, so I'm all unfilled. I hope he didn't hurt the baby. It really did hurt. Then I met with Nutrition who basically said don't change a thing, just eat an extra yogurt or so per day. I can handle that.

My somewhat normalized period (only in the last 6 months) was a little late, so I took a HPT, and holy crap, it was blaringly positive!!!!!!!!!! I've suffered from secondary infertility (13 medically assisted procedures-IUI and IVF, none successful) for the last 8 years and so I never thought this would happen. I've got a lot against me: I'm 40 and I've had six previous losses, so I'm keeping my head on straight and my heart guarded. I am not certain about how far along we are, maybe 6+ weeks? Went to the RE and they did a scan. Shows a baby and a yolk sac. Next week I go back to look for heartbeat and dating.
Wish us luck. I'm terrified. I'm not going to change anything in my diet except adding one more Protein Shake a day until I see my lap band doc in late December, provided the baby is still viable at that time.

Since you are the one who will suffer the consequences of morbid obesity, this should 100% be your decision - not your parents. It is called morbid obesity for a reason; as the weight starts to suck away your quality of life, it eventually kills people before their time.
If you don't think you can do this with diet and exercise, then by all means join up with our big bunch of "losers" and do it with surgery, diet, and exercise - no shame, no shade. Otherwise, you are looking at a lifetime of joint pain and replacement (I'm telling you now, that the pain from a knee replacement is 10,000 times worse than bariatric surgery. Uncomplicated bariatric surgery is a hangnail compaired to a joint replacement)
Here is a link to a Sparkpeople article about what things weigh. My total from pre-op to when I finish up plastics is 100 pounds - that's a two month old colt. That's like wearing a pony for a belt! So far, I have lost an adult Irish Setter, with a mid-size microwave oven to go! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3421351
If this is what you feel you need, and your doctors are supporting you, don't wait until you are in your 60's and life has passed you by. I agree that if your parents can agree to be open-minded enough to go with you to a few appointments, that may help. You may just have to agree to disagree on the subject.
Are you still on your parents insurance, or do you carry your own? If you do not live with your parents or depend on their insurance, then just never mention it again and go do it. They can't undo your surgery once you have it done. You will be your own best advocate.

PuraVida37 reacted to LipstickLady in So THIS happened the other day. Me and my big mouth.
I help run a martial arts school and we have a large afterschool program. I am the friendly, outgoing one who chats up all the parents, smooths over any issues and generally makes sure everyone is happy.

There was one parent who has always been rather standoffish. When someone acts cold or distant, I chalk it up to them being shy or introverted and I rarely take it personally. Over the 6 months or so, she has really started to come around, chatting with me while her kids get their shoes on, smiling a lot more, just being much friendly in general. I figured she was one of the rare people that is very slow to warm up -- no big deal.
    Until Friday.
Friday she looked at me and said, "You know. I find it much easier to take you seriously now that you are not so big." She held her arms out and rounded as if to mime a big, fat person (which, to her defense, I was).

I looked at her, smiled, and before I could stop myself, I said, "You know what? I found it much easier to take YOU seriously when I *WAS* big.", and I held out my arms to mimic hers.

    Silly bitch.

Thank you! Yes I am healthier and I have to keep reminding myself that's it's not a race almost everyday. With my second fill I do notice the change in my eating habits, almost like food is boring to me now lol. Other times I'm like getting a plate full of food because hungry then laugh because I only can eat a cup of it. It's definitely a change.

Looking good!! It's not a timeline contest. Lose at your own pace. You did this to become healthier. Are you healthier today than at the start? then that's the only thing you need to focus on right now.

PuraVida37 got a reaction from Dragonfly8a in I screwed up
I've screwed up and since Halloween I've reintroduced sugar into my eating. And now I'm eating everything. I've gained about 10 lbs. Thanksgiving and seeing family made reverting to old habits too easy and I ate many, many things I shouldn't have. But I'm not going to beat myself up about it. I will just get back on track. I did do something recently that I'm proud about--I ran a 5K Turkey Trot and got 6 of my family members to do it too! But then I gave myself permission to eat like a crazy lady and that's gonna stop right now.
It's gonna be a rough week detoxing from sugar again. I've done it before, i'm gonna do it again!!!!!!!!! Send me some positive vibes.
