At the age of 67 I was afraid I was too old for Lap band surgery, but I had reached a point where my weight was keeping me from participating in lots of activities or enjoying life like I wanted.  I was tired all the time and my body simply hurt. I tried to explain to friends and family that it was like carrying around a 50# bag of dog food that you can never put down!!! I was on 3 blood pressure meds when just 5 years earlier, I had been on NONE! I had a POSE procedure (Primary Obesity Surgery, Endoscopy) 4 years ago (it's still in somewhat of a research stage), and I was totally disappointed with the results. By the time I started exploring the Lap Band, I had regained all my weight to the exact pound!!  I think I'm going to be successful this time.....I've already been able to discontinue one blood pressure med and only take half of the other two (with hopes of getting off completely)! Also, I had started asthma medication last year ("adult onset" due to obesity??) which I have now stopped.  I am more energetic and simply feel better! The weight loss (28 lbs so far) is just an added bonus! And I'm so glad I found BariatricPal while trying to find answers to some of my questions about post op experiences.  Seems lots of folks have had the same problems and fears I've already experienced. I was afraid I would mess up the surgery somehow, but I'm encouraged to learn from others that I'm "normal".
