  1. It's okay- when I am back on solids I don't plan on depriving myself all the time, ill make better choices most of the time but occasionally I will visit my faves (within portion, of course). If I lose slower that's okay because it's MY choice and I am not in a race~ just keep that same attitude in mind....there are some things I can easily give up forever. There are a few things though, if I told myself I would "never" have again, would make this journey miserable and impossible... Allow yourself some wiggle room- we deserve that now and then for all the other times we have are behaved!

    Woooaah hunger there you are!

Hehe tell me about it, I am only 9 days post op so I'm still only allowed to have shakes and baby food like things...but that's not cutting it-- I'm STARRRRVING haha

    Banded on Sept. 4, 2013

I was banded on the 4th. Yesterday was the first day I didn't need pain meds. Haven't needed nausea meds at all yet either. Today was the first day I felt I had good enough range of motion to leave the house, I went grocery shopping for an hour and a half and survived! Last night was the first night I could sleep on my side- forgot to ask them which incision has my port, they all feel the same so I can't tell lol. I'm allowed to have 3 protein shakes plus 2 other soft things a day but have not been able to consume more than 1 shake and 1 small other thing yet. I can't tell if I am hungry or if its gas gurgling around in there....staying hydrated, gonna hafta start miralax soon because I've had zero activity in the restroom yet. I am slightly sore but getting up and down is better and easier each day (back to work Tuesday)...everything feels a little "tight" on the inside, I don't know if it will stay like that or if that's part of my swelling (also had hernia repair). I'm feeling pretty good, I'm doing laundry and up preparing meals for the family still so I'd say each day is better!
  4. Sooo I am 3 days post op and was able to remove top layer of bandaging, but have to leave the steri strips- I notice on some of my incisions I'm having some drainage, and its still going- I don't have a fever and they don't hurt worse than normal, was just wondering how many days of drainage is excessive?

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

I got banded this morning, seems surreal! I was nervous because I had never been put under, but yesterday I had the egd done and got a taste of that, didn't remember a thing. At first my core muscles were very sore so sitting/standing/getting down and up or laughing was quite tender (of course) but the worst is the gas in my chest- the drugs make me tired so I'm moving as much as I can between naps I'm already feeling much better since this morning, like the wound sites aren't as sore and I'm getting around better...soon as I get rid of this gas all will be well, I'm not nauseous or hungry, just thirsty!
  6. Hey there ~ getting banded sept 4th with dr nurmil from true results~that's 3 days before my 32nd birthday...(happy birthday to me!) I live closest to 99th ave/camelback and have 3 day weekends so I have plenty of time for "band" buddies...anyone live near me?

I'm not Cathy, but I met nurmil today as well~ for me it was good, he seemed very nice and competent, September 4th is right around the corner, thankfully as I am ready to say goodbye to this whack pre-diet hehe

    can anyone clarify..

Everyone's instructions are different. Mine is 2 weeks (based on my BMI) of 2 meal replacing shakes a day and 1 cup of greens, 1 cup of fruits and 5-7oz of lean protein depending on what the source is- (5 for beef or up to 7 for fish, I was told). Tomorrow will be my 6th day on the pre-op diet. I cheated once. You can use the "my fitness pal" app to track what you're consuming, gives you a great breakdown of what ratios of fat/carbs/protein based on what is entered into your food "diary". Then you can ask your surgeon or nutritionist what range they want you to stay in~
  9. I am drinking sprouts brand chocolate whey protein, but sometimes I buy the EAS advantage carb control pre-mixes so I can grab 'n' go to work...the strawberry one is nasty but both chocolate ones are good!

I am scheduled sept 4th with nurmil- I meet him aug 27th to ask any questions- this might sound kind of stupid, but I don't know what questions to ask that haven't already been answered by my previous year of research, interviewing people for the personal experiences, reading the book true results gave me and lurking on this (and other) forums. What questions should I be asking my surgeon? I know 3 people personally that had nurmil as their surgeon (with zero complications). I've waited years to do this while learning about it and feel like none of that is really going to prepare me for my own personal journey with it anyway, I am ready to just do this and take it day by day!

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Hey there! My name is Jessica, I am scheduled for my egd (upper gi) sep 3rd and am scheduled to get banded on September 4th which is 3 days before my 32nd bday. Best gift I could give myself! I live in phoenix, az. I am going to start my pre-op diet on Monday- my BMI is 46! In a perfect world I would hope to lose 150lbs lol but realistically I'd be thrilled with 80-100lbs of loss, really ANY loss is progress in my mind. I can't wait
