to gain true weight
you have to eat/drink more calories than you burn off....simple
its a fact and how we all needed wls
when i was coming off my post op, i felt this very same way
jeannie who wrote bandwagon and i pm back and forth and i asked
her this very thing...she said so you wanna just drink for the rest of your life??
we are not on a diet...
you will eat healthy foods, exercise and lose weight and be healthy
let the band do its job by helping you with the amount
all you do and need to do is make better choices, eat your allotted amount
and watch you lose massive inches/weight
best of luck

arn't those meeting just the best.... When some one you liked or crushed on sees you and drools all over him self.... lol... Happened to me at the Lowes two weeks ago. Walked pass him and this time his wife (she HATES me) was not with him. Said hello in passing.... He walked a bit then made a turn and came found me... I happened to look freaking fabulous that day... :D
Pretty... im so proud of you for standing your ground. If he treated you like crap before... he will do it again.
My saying on getting back with an ex...... It's like reading a book over, expecting a different ending... Never happens.

True, but in my case I don't need to eat to "feel Full" as some call it...I am not hungry, nor have any interest in eating 24 hrs. a day....whether I eat something or not....and food does stay in my pouch...I know this because I can judge by the feedback I get while attempting to drink something after eating....it can take up to 1/2 hour.
Sorry this is just my first hand experience I have been experiencing for over 2 years...can't provide you with any printed articles....just what I experience.......
Last night we had a pretty good dinner....I was just not interested in eating....no hunger...did take one or two small bites to see if I can get something going, but I was just not hungry in the least....
The plate is in the fridge covered in foil.....I'll heat it up and have it today....

Tracy18 reacted to finallytime in HUGE NSV
Although the scale has remained the same for a weeks.... This is a message I sent to all 400+ of my FB 'friends' but thought it would an even better post here.
. For those of you who have noticed, I have been more active lately. I never wanted to pick up running because I didn't want to be slow or last and that fear has always held me back. Well I just ran a 5k and my oldest biggest fear was just about to happen. I was almost last, but instead of walking, giving up or beating myself up I just kept going!! And you know what the pit in my stomach went away and I finished with me head held high!! Life is all about challenges. We are only judged on how we react to them. Thanks for my family and friends who have been so supportive of me while I get my health on track. I really do love you all!!! And as everyone knows I do always have to add some sarcasm . As I rounded the 1/2 way mark and thoughts of the old me were rearing their ugly heads I heard my dad with more of his nonsensical 'logic'.... You know what they call the person that graduates last in their class in medical school..... Doctor
Thanks for the words of wisdom dad they came in handy when I needed it most!! NEVER EVER give up AND I was much faster than last year when I was sitting on my couch

Tracy18 reacted to Rockin' Robyn in Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
Hi Everyone-
It has been on my mind lately to start a new post as a positive, motivational, and inspiring thread. I have noticed several threads lately where those considering surgery are asking if it is 'possible' to lose 100 pounds with the band. My answer to that is...Yes, it definitely is. Many say it is not realistic. But I have watched the amazing progress of LBT members on the board, and believe it is not only realistic, it is happening to many of our LBT members all around us. And for those that aren't quite there yet, many members are extremely close. As time goes by with lapband increasing in popularity and the number of LBT members growing everyday, I believe the list is only going to increase by leaps and bounds.
Any and all weight loss is a huge accomplishment for us all. While I realize that many members don't need to lose 100 pounds or more, many do. And for those who do, it offers not only motivation to see that other bandsters have done it...but most importantly it offers the hope that it can be done with the band!
This will be a running thread to offer positive motivation, inspiration, hope, and encouragement. Please PM me or post here to have your name added to the growing list when you hit 100 pounds lost, or if you want your amount lost updated. Congratulations to everyone on any and all weight loss!

Tracy18 reacted to PrettyThick1 in At my lowest weight in more than a decade and a half!
Good morning everyone!
It's official...I am finally at the lowest weight I've been in for probably 15 years. I have now surpassed any of my best results of any previous weight loss program I've been on. Even using phentermine didn't get me here and it took more than 6 months on that to get me to 182...where I plateaud and started to regain after it became ineffective (after 12-18 months).
I know I say this at the end of just about every post, but I can't help it... I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!

Tracy18 reacted to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! in any regrets? is it harder or easier then you thought?
Honestly, I've found it to be a lot easier than I expected. I knew going into this the band was a tool not a magic fix for fat. I knew the work I had to do to be successful and was committed to doing it.
I went into this thinking if I could lose 150 pounds in 2 years, I'd have been thrilled. I have shocked even myself by losing 227 pounds in 19 months- and I'm still losing.
I have no regrets. Getting the Lap Band is the best decision I've ever made for myself.

I like to cook some bacon to a crisp. Then cook onions and squash in the drippings. And once they are soft add in a can of diced tomatoes with the juice. Crumble the bacon, salt and pepper, and cover until heated thru. I know the bacon doesn't sound healthy but it's only two pieces for a dish that is numerous servings.

Hi Tracy, welcome! I am pre-band, still waiting for a date and getting so much information and support here. Thanks for chiming in. I suffer from insomnia and know how difficult that can be. I use the time to focus on breathing and sometimes that puts me out again. Good luck!

I can not help with much on your worry list as I do not smoke and am still way pre op. I will be banded in October, I will tell you however that I have been prepping for the Protein Shakes because my BMI is very high so I will be on a Protein Shake for two of three meals diet for three weeks. I have finally found a whey Protein Powder that is not to bad alone. I make it better by using recipes from bariatricfoodie.com and now use a Protein shake every morning as my go to breakfast, peanut brittle is amazing and tomorrow I am trying pumpkin cheesecake. Seriously Ah...Maz...Ing!

Tracy18 reacted to GuyMontag in Newbie with cold feet
Let me tell you something, if you have something that is your weakness and you give then it can easily become your downfall. If you drink 3 sodas a day and think you can cut them out and then just start only having one a month then let me tell you it's a hell of a lot harder than you think. Once you burst that bubble it's VERY hard to put it back together. If you're that worried about all of the restrictions with lapband then have you considered bypass or sleeve? You'll still have to make some lifestyle changes but I don't think they are as easy to defeat as the band is. I'm not trying to disuade you but I am trying to be practical and I wouldn't recommend getting this surgery until you are committed and ready. It's not a walk in the park but it can be a great tool if used correctly.
Lastly, here's a rule of thumb I have learned, don't take any nutrition advice that isn't a doctor or a lap band patient. People may 'think' they know how a band patient should eat but they are usually wrong. I won't even listen to a nurse or a nutritionist unless they are banded. I might shake my head and nod but internally I'm thinking, if I could do what you just said then I wouldn't have needed the damn band! Lol.

Banded July 1 and a week later I went shopping with my sister and her kids. I found a DKNy dress in size 18w for 15 bucks. Post surgery I was a 22w (maybe 24) but I wouldn't buy larger than a 22. I saw that coral dress n it was a steal at 15 bucks. I bought it for my trip to Vegas in September in hopes it would fit (kept receipt in bag had 6 months to return just in case i love Macys !!! ) anyway Well I tried it on yestedat 1 month to the day I bought it and it fits ... It fits and looks nice it might be a lil big next month but ill get the sucker tailored . I'm super happy and wanted to share my 2nd first NSV... The first one was walking Into an all tone favorite bakery and had no Desire to purchase a dam thing to eat . Ordered the cake I needed for a party n left empty handed... A first !!!!
I needed to share with my lap band family because my real world friends and family get happy but don't see the joy way we do:)

Hi Lapband Talk Family, on August 8, 2012 I had Lapland surgery weighing in at 245 (5'6 and size 18/20) and I met my Weightloss goal on Thursday August 1 weighting in at 144 lbs (size 4/6). My goal weight was 145. Please check out my transformation, and thanks to everyone that encouraged me along this journey. 9 more lbs to lose to live in my maintenance range o 135 - 145. Loving my Lapband, what an awesome tool! Update: I'm now at 132 lbs and I'm wearing a size 0/2. I'm loving my Lapband!

Actually I would associate internal bleeding with something like bypass and the sleeve because they are actually cutting and reconnecting parts that are prone to tear, adhesions, infection etc where they are resutured.
In those uncomfortable situations, simply be polite and ask "oh, did you do alot of personal research and which surgery did you end up choosing?" "no, and you never needed it? Than why are you qualified to dissuade me from a medical decision you are clearly unqualified to talk about" just for sh*ts and giggles

Hang in there Mz. This and the post op time period are the most difficult. Think about the rewards coming your way when the temptation seems impossible to deal with. Look at the before and after pics on this site. I know it sounds silly but looking at other people's successes can motivate you.

Tracy18 reacted to Brittani87 in August 6th...time for a healthy change. anyone else new in august?
Hey guys! I just had my surgery this past Tuesday July 30th. I was 389 when I started and with my pre-op diet I lost 14 pounds. I too had to eat all my fav foods. I know and hope eventually I can enjoy them again just in a different way. I'm feeling good. Just to the point where I'm tired of the liquid diet that is after surgery. I'm so ready for my soft mushy food diet. I found out about this site last night through a girl who is apart of the norton weight management support group on Facebook. This is great we have all these ways to support one another and to get each other through the highs and lows of our new beginning.

I've just dropped the kids off at their grandparents ready for my surgery tomorrow *wipes tears away*.
Now I need to pack my bag for hospital and I'm ready. I can't believe after all these months of waiting the big day is finally here. By lunchtime tomorrow I will have a lapband. I'm praying for a smooth surgery and fast recovery!

I have done the same! I bought a pandora fixed bead bracelet that fits 5 beads on it and I plan to buy a bead for every 10 that I lose. I'm hoping that having a bracelet on my wrist and seeing it when I open the fridge
