  1. Thank you all for Sharing your pictures. You all look wonderful, healthier and younger. I can't wait to be on the loser's bench too.
  2. Thanks for the post. I am also waiting for insurance approval and often start psyching myself out of my decision. I appreciate all the comments and it really helps confirm that this is the right decision for me. I will miss a lot of things but I hate feeling like a marshmallow and just want to be healthy.
  3. Yes, I've had this happen with most people that I told. I'm 5'6, 230 pounds with an apple shape and full face. I guess I hide my weight pretty well, but for me this decision has been motivated by a heart condition, being exhausted all the time, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and a lot of cancer & diabetes in my family. My cardiologist said I needed to lose 100 pounds. I cried when he told me that because I think in my food addicted mind, I thought I wasn't 't that bad either. The truth is, I'm on bad shape and my health is at risk and I just pray that once I have surgery, it will be the answer to my prayers.
  4. You look great and so much healthier. Way to go!
  5. Thanks all for your honesty. My stomach is mt problem area so I'm trying to psych myself for what to expect.
  6. So sorry about all your complications. I wish you all the best and a quick recovery. I can't even imagine all you have gone through. Thank you for sharing your stories and keeping it real.
  7. Bile... I used to throw it up every morning when I was preggo.
  8. Hi, I've been wondering about the lower stomach and what I can expect with weight loss. What's been your experience? Does it hang or tighten up?
  9. Dawn yellow, I really like how you explained your feelings of being ignored. I 100% can relate. There is a comfort in not being a standout. Good luck with your surgery.
  10. I'm waiting to be sleeved, but a good friend of mine was revised from the band to RNY because of complications. My surgeon does a lot of revisions and said he doesn't think the band will be around in 5 years. Who knows if that's true or not but on these boards, it seems like a lit of people are considering revision. Good luck to you in whatever you choose:)
  11. I think people do it for different reasons. I want to have surgery because I feel awful, have back pains, high blood pressure & cholesterol. Looking good is a bonus! I don't think it's wrong to want to look and feel good.
  12. I'll let you know how the Pre/op support goes tonight. How long did it take for the psych stuff to come through for you guys?
  13. Hi Nikkoal, I'm from Fresno and just tested positive for h. Pylori after my endoscopy last Thursday. I have to start antibiotics too. Good luck on your new start. My surgeon is Dr. Higa
  14. Hi Lisa! I'm also from fresno. I'm pending approval and my surgeon is Dr. Higa. Glad all is going well for you so far. Who was your surgeon?
  15. Congrats! I'm waiting on approval with ALSA also. My surgeon is Dr. Higa! It's great to know of someone locally who is doing the same surgery. Please keep in touch with and let me know how you're doing. I'm going to the Pre-op support group tomorrow. Have you been to any?
  16. No, it's not weird at all. I'm waiting for insurance approval and I'm terrified of how people will look at me after surgery. I used to get a lot of make attention when I was younger and thinner and even then, I wasn't normal BMI. I haven't had to deal with being hit on or stares or anything like that for 20 years. All my friends that know keep telling me I'm going to be so hot and all this kind of crap. To be honest, I never liked a lot of attention. I had a destination wedding because the thought of people staring at me was uncomfortable.... So NO, your not weird for being scared about losing weight. I'm with you.
