Pygo got a reaction from KAATNS in Never got stuck
Been banded 5 weeks and never had a stuck episode. I'm in the green zone and consuming 800-1200 cal per day with 60-80g Protein. I do cardio 3-4 times per week. Is this normal about not getting any food stuck? I chew real real well.

Sounds like you are on track! Great that you are already in the green zone. Some people never get anything stuck. The main reasons this happens are because you are too tight, you took too big a bite, ate something too fast, didn't chew it up well enough or ate something that did not agree with your pouch/ band (which those foods are different for every person) As long as you keep eating the way you are, you should be fine! Best of Luck!

Pygo - I was banded on 3/25/13, and have never had a stuck episode. I'm in the green zone (I think), and losing weight steadily.
I also was beginning to wonder the same thing, because from what I keep reading in these forums, the occasional stuck episode seems to go along with the band. But I think the key is focusing on small bites, chewed VERY well. From the start, I was afraid of some of the things I've read, so I'm really careful about the way I eat. Apparently, it's working for both of us!

IMO stay away from steroids... The whole point of the band is to get healthier and that route is counterproductive. At any rate, to be anabolic while losing fat is no easy task. It can be done in tiny steps through calorie cycling but I would reserve that for a bit down the road and just focus on fat loss at the outset....

My only thought from the beginning was, I had this surgery and by gosh it was going to work! I've never even thought about what I use to eat because that's how I got here. It's all about the want. I lost 78 lbs since nov 6. No fills!

So guys. I am loving being banded and I am awaiting my first full on 4th July but the restriction is pretty good already. Down around 35 lbs in like a month. I'm using myfitnesspal app and tracking my food and exercise. I'm consuming around 1200 per day but burning 400 with cardio exercise. My net calories are like 800/900 per day. The debate is this, I am eating healthy to a degree but also eating some fried foods and pizza but tiny quantities in comparison to what I used to hence the calorie intake and losing weight!
Does it matter what kind of foods the calories are coming from as long as you are burning more than you eat???

Missy is right. Just keep the empty calories at a minimum and you'll succeed. My weakness is cheese. I don't eat nearly as much as before but I sometimes put a double dose on my omelette.

I think it does really boil down to moderation... I eat fried foods ( fish ) at least once a week now. BUT, I don't have fried french fries, hushpuppies, and all the other fried things WITH it. And not 3 or 4 plates full, like in the past. If I had the mindset that I could NEVER have something, I'd probably want it even more. I've heard several people over the past few years on here talk about they "can NEVER have this or that"....and they keep repeating it.....makes me think if they just had a small amount (a normal/healty portion), they wouldn't crave it. It works that way for me. A couple of weeks ago, I went to a local carnival/fair and they had some of the best looking and smelling DEEP FRIED OREO's....I really wanted some. I know they are not healty....but I wanted some. So, I did get an order of them....and the following day I rode a hundred miles on my bike! And as Missy said...it's working that way for me too. Enjoy your life. If you're losing 35 lbs in a month, I wouldn't change a thing! Congrats!

Your body will always function better, including weight loss, when you're feeding it healthy food.
I firmly believe in moderation not deprivation. Like you, sometimes I have a little bit of pizza or some other fried "bad" food. I don't believe there's anything wrong with it, either. I always count it in my daily calories too.
I would say 90% of the time I eat healthy and 10% of the time I eat what I want- be it pizza or ice cream- but I still count the calories even when I'm in the 10%.
I've lost 215 pounds in 17 months eating like this, so for me, it works.

    AMEN!!!!!
The band will change your life....my problem with being fat and unhealthy was because I ate too much and always the wrong foods....
The band has changed all that.....my portions are totally under control, it is IMPOSSIBLE to overeat.....and I am very rarely hungry or have cravings...24/7, not just some of the time like other people, but all of the time.....so all I need to do is choose good foods to eat...and when you loose weight and exercise you want to eat and be healthy....
What can be easier than that? .......Just letting the band do what it is designed to do....I don't need to count calories, measure portions, or do any of those things I used to do in the past. I had WLS and that has made the difference.
I too read all the time about people "Falling Off The Wagon"....and in all respect to them, I personally do not understand how that can happen...I could if we were talking Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers or something....but this is SURGERY....I put all that nonsense that never worked behind me...........it does not matter if I am at a formal dinner....vacation cruise....parties, picnics, ball games....the band is always there...it does not change from place to place.....
This too is how I eat every day, for the rest of my life....I have the same life style today, after loosing all my excess weight, as I did since first starting out in the green 2 years ago...it's not going to change.....
98% Failure rate???? I can believe it!!! I
It has changed me forever.....I have absolutely no fear of ever gaining any weight back again......and "Diet" is just another four letter word.......
    YES...IT'S THAT SIMPLE!!!
(and don't use the excuse of "Slider" foods....I can go on about how that is BS also)

Love this quote that I read today: "The dieting industry the only profitable business in the world with a 98 percent failure rate."
Each day I wake up so happy that I followed through with my decision to stop traditional dieting and seek a tool with a better track record and longterm success rate: the lapband. I remember in the days leading up to my surgery last March, I was feeling fearful and a voice in my head said "Hey, give Weight Watchers one last chance." Thankfully I stood strong. Had I not, I would be weighing more today than I did three months ago, I am certain of it. Instead, I weigh almost 30 pounds less.
I don't see my banded life as a dieting life. I eat smaller now, and this is "just the way I eat." It's not "until I get the weight off." I don't "fall off the wagon" on vacation, during a holiday, or for someone's wedding, birthday, etc. I love my mindset with its dimmed appetite, and am grateful to my band for taking me from the status of "dieter" to "this is they way I eat now."

There must be something you're forgetting about. Bottom line is, more calories burned than eaten equals weight loss. I know your metabolism can slow but not normally so you put on weight. Try myfitnesspal app, it tracks calories and exercise etc. you should be aiming for 60-80g of Protein and between 1000-1200 calories for continuos weight loss. If you exercise try doing some interval training to kick start your metabolism. This band is a tool. We still have want it bad to get to our target weight. I'm a way off yet.
    Good luck
