  1. Yay is right -- way to go. Love it when the jeans fit well. And glimpsing yourself in the mirror like that is so empowering. You are on your way. Here's to health and happiness!
  2. So happy for you -- you are doing beautifully! I am scheduled for 11/5 and can't wait to be banded and start this journey to health and vitality.
  3. Yippee! And happy, happy birthday to you!
  4. This is a very complicated issue for some. I suspect more women may be victims of the kind of self-deprecation that comes from monitoring success and failure at the scale too closely, rather than just seeing the data as an indicator. So much feels at stake at that moment when the number is about to appear.
  5. Great piece; thanks. I can so relate. I think I'd better get rid of our scale for a bit, maybe put it out in the barn.
  6. Hi Allie, let us know what the doctor's office says this morning. Hope you are able to get more water in now and those Popsicles sounded like a good idea. Everything is healing up inside. So glad you're doing well overall. You are really tuning in to your body, which is so great. And it's asking you for water!
  7. This is so helpful for me -- very glad to find this post. I am a month away from surgery and have been trying to get in the slimming mode but this is bringing up all the diet failure cycling for me. If I could diet successfully I would not need the band. I have been trying so hard, failing, beating myself up, trying some more.....and all the while I'm doing pretty well but not able to hold to the strict calorie intake it takes to drop some pounds. Guess that will happen on the liquids phase and later once band is working.
  8. Wow, way to go! So happy for you. Congratulations on all the hard work and determination that got you to this place. So inspiring!
  9. Hi Tracie, I'm so sorry. What a time you've been having. This is out there, but is there any possibility you could be allergic to wheat? Gluten-intolerance is like an epidemic at this point -- and one of the symptoms is acid reflux. What if you are eating something your body cannot tolerate and that is causing all these problems?

Hope you feel better. Unrelated to a band, etc., my husband had heartburn issues and we were advised to put blocks of wood (1-2 inches high) under the head of the bed for a bit of an angle -- apparently laying flat was an issue.

  13. Thanks! Drink up and have a restful Sunday. There's always a turnaround day after a surgery, when suddenly there is a return of strength and energy. Hope that comes soon for you and that meanwhile you get to watch all the movies you've been saving for this.

  15. Hi there, hope you are feeling better. Congratulations on being on the other side!

  17. Good news! One step at a time, one overly thoroughly excruciatingly documented step at a time......but it's working! Keep at it!

  21. Welcome and congratulations on this new chapter in your life. I am pre-band also, scheduled for 11/5. Hope your pre-op liquid diet is going well -- great to lose a chunk and get the liver healthy prior to surgery....as to what to expect, I have been learning so much over the last couple of months here on LB Talk. I know it won't be easy once I'm banded, that I will have to be careful to keep to the small amounts of food, not drink with food, no slider foods, etc. but I'm very excited because I know this is going to work and I'm going to get my health back.

  23. Puttimg some things in the freezer for six weeks from now. I've probably already posted too much about cauliflower, but this batch is amazing. Bought some small canning jars, steamed an organic cauliflower, smashed it up with aloe vera juice, salt, pepper and ground coriander. Nine jars of future yumminess. I figure this will be great post-surgery food when the time comes.
