  1. I feel the same way…my relationship with food has changed so much!

I enjoy it a lot (as always) but not as much as I used to.

One biggie I've learned is that the first bite tastes just the same as the 2nd, 5th and 10th. So if its something sweet or a treat…will one bite or two do it…or do I really need the 13th or 14th bite…NOT ANYMORE!

I finally feel free from that stupid diet mentality.

I am NOT deprived! I enjoy myself! And it's JUST food!

  2. Sorry to hear of your separation….life happens even as we try to lose weight.

I had a death in the family (my FIL) and the stress of everything plus all the food coming in really sent me in a tailspin and eating all the wrong things and lots of them. Every day for several weeks I kept telling myself today was the day I would be better…and it wasn't…and it took those few weeks for me to realize that I did NOT want to go back to where I was before with weight gain or with letting food control me.

And when I realized that, it just came together for me. And now I am back on it and feeling good about myself.

Unfortunately when emotions are involved it is a very personal experience and the only one who can make that decision to get back on track is YOU! And that stinks….support is nice but that didn't stop me from eating ice cream and lots of other crap.

I made a side by side picture of myself at my heaviest and now and hung it in my bathroom and on my frig. That helps at times…..

Wishing you peace and lots of luck with it all….

  3. WILL DEFINATELY GIVE THAT A TRY! I WILL TRY ANYTHING (AT LEAST ONCE…LOL)

OFF FOR MY WALK…KIDDIES IN BED…HUBBY WATCHING THEM….ITS ME TIME! :D

    Chasingadream,

You're so on point with everything you said! Everyone finds theirselves in a "rut" at some time or another but it's how we dig ourselves out that counts and with an attitude like yours. you WILL BEAT IT, you already have sporting your new skinny clothes and shoes (I found it odd that my feet shrank too:-)) I guess it's not so odd afterall and 92lbs GONE NEVER TO RETURN! You should be very proud of your accomplishments, you're doing great.

This is going to sound strange but one of the things I find helps with that REALLY BAD head hunger is about 2Tlb of apple cidar vinegar followed by 8oz of Water. It helps you release Water weight and for whatever reason makes you feel full and trust me nothing taste worse after some apple cider vinegar than chocolate;)

Love reading your posts…what an inspiration!

I chuckled at your first NSV…i just posted on another thread…how amazed I am that I can now see the seat under me and so much of it too! And like you, the steering wheel would rub my belly and now I had to lower my steering wheel…guess theres not as much butt and back "lifting" me in my seat now! :D

Im also looking forward to summer with my kids…last year I avoided the pool all summer because I didn't want to get in a suit…now Im okay with my new suit in a smaller size!

Just did some clothes and shoe shopping on sunday….so happy with my 12/14 pants….14/16 shirts and even my shoes shrunk a little in width!

And like you I am feeling like this is just where I am supposed to be right now in my life…and yes….LIFE IS GREAT!

Was having a "rut" with my eating and food choices and realized that only I can get myself back to where I was with my revised and better eating habits. I love so much of the new me that the cookie or bag of m&m's really isn't worth it…but it is so DARN TEMPTING…and the head hunger is just killing me…but I'm just gonna take one day at a time….AND BEAT IT!

Thanks for posting your successes and your tips….love them! You look amazing!

  4. I've been banded almost 8 months and there is nothing I can't eat (well triscuits are an uncomfortable food so i choose to avoid those) and nothing I deprive myself of.

You learn to eat in much smaller portions and enjoy what you are eating.

I eat out more now after my banding then before….and I enjoy each meal. I always bring leftovers home and its never been a problem.

Try not to think that you will never eat again or you will never eat foods you love again. It is just not the case.

My tastes and cravings have changed and I'm learning to let it all work together as it should.

The greatest thing is Im not on a diet anymore. I track my food intake on fitness pal and I don't fool myself on what i am actually taking in calorie wise.

I eat to live….I no longer live to eat!

    Good luck to you!

  6. Love this…thanks Jean! I just got over a pity party…I usually only invite myself! ;)

Im over it and moving on because even though I hit a hiccup with my eating plan, ONLY I, can pick myself up and move right along with my weight loss!

I've lost almost 2/3 of my goal….nothing to be pity-ing about there! :D ..sometimes I just need to remember that!

  7. I usually order a regular meal and just take home the extra..me or hubby usually enjoy it then.

Or, I will order an appetizer and just have it brought out of the main course.

I've never ordered off the kids menu…but its a good thought!

Its nice to go out and eat like a "normal" person….at least for me! And we don't eat out often…so I get what I want and enjoy it without guilt or a second thought!

    Enjoy!

  8. I have a weight watchers one….(from my MANY years pre-banding)….its great because its accurate and digital and weighs in grams and ounces and you can put a bowl on it and zero it out and add ingredients .

you can walk in to any WW meeting and get one.

Works for me..good luck finding one you like.

  9. It is a bit unsettling especially when you go unnoticed for so long (at least thats my experience).

I think that was my initial dilemma…at 280 pounds no one was commenting on how I looked EVER and now that i've lost 92 pounds it runs the range of wow, you're skinny…you're not losing anymore are you….you look like a different person (that one always gets me)…do I really look that different!

Today, I was picking up my son at our elementary school and another mom who i've spoken to a few times actually stopped to walk with me and commented on my weight loss….and was very chatty. I thanked her for the nice compliment and the conversation was nice but a little piece of me thought….she never stopped to chat when I was 280 pounds.

Its just different now that I am thinner…its good just different.

I work in an elementary school and everyone wants to know the secret to my success and are very complimentary with the comments. Very few people know of my WLS and the rest I tell them just like you did….getting healthy--high Protein, low carbs, lots of walking.

Its hard to take the compliments easily…but its coming easier and easier these days.

Some days its nice to hear and others I just wish everyone would go about their OWN business!

You will learn to just answer with ease and move on with your day. As your weight loss becomes greater and greater and the results are even more visible they ail come in fast and furious…having a little bag of responses will make it easier.

I've learned to smile, say thank you, feel how nice the compliment was and move on…you will too! :)

  10. @@lecouch call your docs office if you are not sure about the clear liquid diet for that long. They are there for you and to answer all of your questions…its important to understand it all as you go along the process. Good luck! You can and will do it!

@@new me1475 Everyones docs protocol is different but most have some kind of liquids after surgery to allow for healing.

I had 2 days of all clear liquids only after surgery, followed by 2 weeks of all liquids, followed by 2 weeks of mushies before finally getting back onto solids. I also had a 2 week all liquid pre-op….so it was 6 weeks without solids. Seems so long ago now. Not so much when I was going through it. Best of luck to you!

  11. Congrats and welcome to the banded side of things!

Glad to hear that all went well for you and that you are feeling good!

Sounds like you have a great attitude about things and that will take you far in this journey.

Take it one day at a time!

Much success to you! Keep us posted!

  12. @@enjoythetime Holy WOW!

You look amazing and your transformation is phenomenal as @@2muchfun said!

I love the beautiful smile in EVERY one of your pics in your gallery!

I loved your post on what you are doing/have done to get yourself to where you are!!! It really hit home.

And I also have 2 small children….they are our exercise!!!! :D (and our joy!)

Congrats and thanks for sharing…what a tremendous inspiration!

  13. I don't have any help/suggestions for the work out part.

Is it possible that your body is just "done" and comfortable where you are??

I know, for myself, I chose 140 as my goal based on the "charts" and what I would "like" to eventually reach….but I often wonder if that is something I can actually achieve.

Plus with the 48 pounds I have left to reach that "goal" I think 8-10 pounds may possibly be all the extra hanging belly fat I have that someday I hope to have removed????

Just something to think about….best of luck to you!
