Piece of cake, and good practice for the big day. My surgeon did mine and I looked at it as a way to get to know him better and develop trust etc. the pleasant surprise is he has sleeved like half the hospital and so my preop nurse etc had been sleeved too and was very reassuring. Nice experience.

I remember my nutrition appointments. I had to do 3 months. I'm counting down the days to get it over and start my journey.

I don't have my date yet but my final nutrition appointment is scheduled for October 2 and they said the dates are usually within 2 to 3 weeks from your final nutrition appointment so I think I will be toward the end of October.
I was so excited the first couple months and now that it's looming in front of me I am also very nervous!! I think it's completely normal and I find myself putting my nerves aside to concentrate on the checklist of things that I know I need to do to prepare and have in order so that when the day comes I can just relax and have a countdown ready. But definitely nervous!

Welcome Chass. This is a good place to be. Ajay, I feel I know everything will be fine but the nervousness keeps creeping in. I think your Mom is going to be surprised at how fast you bounce back. From reading so many stories here, most people took time off work and realized after surgery that they really didn't need to. Your Mom is just being a Mom. Mine makes the same comments and it's annoying, but we know the statistics and as long as we are prepared for complications and what to look for should they arise, we will be fine. Later today I'll be stressed out again and will have to remind myself of all this. Haha

I'm worried and excited and anxious too. My date is Oct 10th. I've been looking forward to getting a surgery date for months and now that I have it my nerves are all haywire. I'm guessing this is normal...or hoping it is haha.
I just keep telling myself I know what to do, I know how to eat and I want to be healthier for myself and my family.
I'm also starting to have all these irrational fears. The best I can relate it to is having an MRI in the past and feeling claustrophobic. I would think "what if the power goes out and I'm stuck in here?" Or "what if I get a cramp and need to move but can't?". Why am I driving myself nuts!? I might ask my doctor for some anxiety meds at my appointment tomorrow. :/

I didn't feel anything all they did to me was put my face mask on and gave me anesthesia to knock me out. I woke up and it was done. My fear was them putting cameras while I was awake..my nurse gave me permission to punch him if it happens. My throat was sore for 4 days but it went away. I was just as stressed! Hang in there! Its not as scary as it seems. Afterall the sleeve is going to be a challenge...that I'm scared ******** best of luck to you.

ajayb19 got a reaction from JudyMay14 in Surgery tomorrow! Still wondering if I could do this myself!
I have been mixed with anxiety and excitement since my 1st visit with the surgeon. I understand where you are coming from. I had the same thoughts about the whole cutting part of your stomach out and the long term and effects.
I originally planned on having the Lapband done, mostly because you don't have that drastic measure of changing your body's anatomy. But after thorough research and testimony from ppl who have had either surgery done (Which I know you went through as well) I decided that this was the best option. I too have tried everything under the sun to lose weight on my own to no avail.
If you were able to get through the 2wk liquid diet then I have no doubt that you will make it through the rest of your life with out a hitch. Just know it's mind over matter. I have a tiny tattoo on my wrist of my highest weight. A small simple reminder of where I am right now and where I never want to be again.
Whenever you feel like you won't make it through, just remember the way you felt at your highest weight and keep pushing through!
Best of Luck, can't wait to see how well you do!

I was going to say the Premier Protein chocolate, too, if you are looking for something already prepared for on the run. Or what about a Quest Protein Bar?

I really enjoy the Premier Protein chocolate Flavor (I get it at costco), it's pretty decent for ready to drink. I'm not a big fan of their vanilla flavor, I can drink it, but I don't enjoy it.

Who told you that? I hope not your bariatric surgeon. A NUT is not mandatory, if you're willing to educate yourself on nutrition but if you don't have time for that, a NUT will be a huge help.

OK, here's what I know, for what it's worth. I'm learning as I go along, and just share what I know... I'm willing to read labels and bring in more info, because I just ASSUME (silly me) that everyone is kind of on the same page. I didn't research how Mexico works, because I didn't do that. So...
My surgeon is part of a group that includes him, two dieticians (or, on here, NUTs), an exercise physiologist (trainer) with a gym we can use, an insurance coordinator (my hero), a nurse-case manager, and an office manager. The program involves seeing the NUT and the trainer every month to meet the insurance requirements that their coordinator knows by heart because it's all she does. She gets us approved! The nurse case-manager handles the medication change questions, and other individual things like CPAP and heart and diabetes... So we see her when we are having our freak outs. She's just left, and they are hiring a replacement (not that she can be replaced, but another one, anyway). And monthly support groups.
So the program IS the dietician who knows bariatrics. The surgery happens, but it's the tool we use with the NUT program and the gym work we do. I'm shocked that you don't have a NUT.
HOWEVER, don't freak out at weight loss numbers. I was sleeved May 13, BUT that was after I had lost almost 60 lbs already, through diet and exercise with the program. (shocked me, let me tell you). I'm thinking I'm losing slowly now, but when we're in a stall, here's what they ask us: Are you tracking your food (measuring and weighing and writing it all down)? are you hitting your Protein goals (they set them based on gender and height. I'm 5'10" and a girl and mine is 85g / day)? Are you getting your fluids (64 oz of non-calorie, but your Protein shake counts)? No caffeine, no carbonation. Low carb diet. No more than 5 eating points a day. A shake a day. (if pressed, they will give a calorie target, mine is like 1000/day). Eating your Vitamins? No more than 1 c of food at a time.
Does that help? Feel free to ask me more questions. I have lots of paperwork that I refer to - I'm a scientist

Good tasting is relative. It is very dependent on you.
If you get a better quality Protein, the whey isolate, it won't need the blender. You can get that, plus a Blender Bottle (they have the metal whisk ball in them, so you can shake as you go), and then just pour the milk and the scoop of powder as you dash out the door. I use Dymatize, and I have also used Six Star chocolate flavors. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury has some good ones, but I only like their chicken Soup (which you have to heat, but not overheat or it will separate). You can order sampler packs from them for their chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, though. I can drink these with or without added fruit. GNC will let you return opened Protein Powder if you don't like the flavor. But read the labels before you buy, and be prepared for the upcharge for their "expertise".
Alternatively, I use muscle milk light / or low carb dymatize / or Isopure ready-to-drink shakes. I've talked to different people who like them all differently. I haven't found just one that is my absolute favorite. I also do Oh Yeah, but they are kind of higher calorie. It depends on what I find at whichever grocery or healthy store I'm at and what mood I'm in when I shop.
    I hope this helps.

Wishing you the best of luck tomorrow! I haven't even met with my surgeon yet but I'm told by others this is part of the pre-surgery process for most doctors and I'm pretty sure I'm more nervous about the EGD than I am the surgery Lol.
Did anyone feel that it scratched their throat or anything? I'm a singer, I always get very nervous when something involves the throat.
