    Really sore after surgery

Yup. It was normal for me to feel that way. It took me 5 full days to feel even slightly normal. For me, days 1 -5 didn't seem to get better a little at a time like everyone else. They were just all horrible and some parts were worse than the previous day. But, after day 5, things slowly got better little by little. Hang in there. It super sucks right now, but you can do it!

    Vomiting after surgery?

Ugh. Yes. I threw up for 2 days after surgery. I had the patch behind my ear and some other anti-nausea medicine, too. For me, the meds just didn't work. It went away after a few days. Everything was fine with my lap band.

    Still no restriction!

I had my third fill a few days ago. No difference still. I can't even tell I have a lap band. I think about food all the time, I'm hungry all the time, and I can still eat large portions (although I try really really hard not to). I wonder if I have failed this, too. Getting lap band surgery was my last option. Now what do I do? On the bright side I have lost about 20 pounds since getting the lap band. That's good. But I haven lost any weight for a while and the fills don't seem to help. I guess I'll call the PA and see if I can get another fill and see if that helps. I can't believe how discouraged I am. This is horrible.

    Still no restriction!

That was the best motivational post ever!! Thank you! I am feeling less dismal today. You're right - my attitude needs to perk up a bit for this to work! Thank you!

    Candy free!

I really thought my first NSV would be finally buttoning up my favorite pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear in over a year. I keep trying, but ... no luck yet! But I did however realize today that since being banded two months ago, I have not once gone to the dollar store to buy candy!! I used to go to the dollar store on a weekly basis (at the very least) and buy about $5 worth of candy. And if you've ever been to the dollar store, you'll know that is a lot of candy. I would start eating it in the car on the way home, and I'd keep eating it until it was gone. Doing some simple math ... five boxes of candy, 7 servings or so per box, that makes, uh, 35 servings of candy a week!! But, I have not even had the desire to go out and buy candy. My intense food cravings have almost vanished, and when I do have something sweet, I definitely find it far sweeter than I used to. I am so proud that I'm finally candy free!

    Feeling like a carnivore.....

You must be so frustrated. You're doing everything right, so all you can do is keep doing what you're doing. I'm 8 weeks post-op and was in a similar situation with weight not moving for a few weeks and the added stress of people asking how much I've lost. Then, all of a sudden, I woke up one morning and I had magically lost 4 pounds. It was the best moment of the journey so far! Hopefully that will happen to you any day now. You're not failing. You are establishing healthy habits and routines - nice job!

    Second Fill

I had my second fill today. When I was weighed she kind of frowned and said "Oh... I see it's not quite tight enough for you, yet." Ha hahaha. Nope, I guess not ... I thought I did good losing a few pounds! Hopefully with this second fill I will do even better. Maybe next time she will blink twice at my weight, double check it, and then say "Wow - way to go, superstar!" So now I have about 5 cc in my band. 4cc from my first fill and 1 cc from this fill. I really really hope this fill works to control my appetite. Even though I'm eating less, it's because I am making my self. I am constantly hungry and thinking about food. Actually, a few times lately, I have even dreamed about food. I'm pretty sure that's not normal ... sigh. But, I already feel like my food addiction is getting better - so thank you, lap band. Keep up the good work!

    All By Myself

I lost 6 pounds in August. All by myself! I did have a fill, but i don't notice any difference ... so that means the 6 pounds I lost this month were all on my own! I am so happy. This really motivates me because if I can lose six pounds all by myself, imagine how much I will lose with my next fill ... maybe 8 pounds! I can't believe I'm losing weight. And I can't believe how happy I am.

    Bra Recommendations Please!

I am a 42 DD, maybe a 40 D or so now. I swear by the Playtex 18 hour bras. They have several types in that collection. Here is why I love them: they are wire free, but have very good lift, they have wide padded shoulder straps which are more comfortable, they have a wide strap which provide more support, and they are lightly padded to give some shape, but not too much, they are not crazy expensive, they come in a variety of colors and styles, and all major stores sell them. These bras are definitely made for us "well endowed" ladies. I can't wait to hear other recommendations, too!

    Weird ?

They weighed me, too, the day of surgery. I have literally never entered a doctor's office or hospital without being made to step on a scale! But weigh yourself at home, just in case they don't and just in case you forget to ask. Good luck!!

  22. I just wish I had some restriction! This totally feels like a diet right now ... Have I failed? Why am I so hungry? Why don't I take smaller bites? Why don't I eat slower? Why can I still eat everything? My biggest question .... why do I keep reading other people's awesomely amazing experiences on here and think the same thing will happen to me... even when my surgeon is telling me that is not always how it works?!?!?! Here is an example: People on here who lose 40 pounds or more their first 6 weeks. My surgeon tells me: expect to lose less than 5 pounds in the first three months, then expect to lose 1 - 2 pounds a week after the three month mark (when proper restriction is reached). Here is another example: People on here who have restriction at 4 cc in their 10 cc band and they have "stuck" episodes, and they can barely eat five bites before they are satisfied. Here is my reality: I can eat anything and everything I want, no exceptions. Here is one more: People have restriction after one fill and live happily ever after. Here is what my surgeon tells me: I will need about three fills before I can feel restriction. I know ... it's individual, other people's experiences won't be mine. I know. But ... in every area in my life I'm a huge pessimist ... but with my lapband, I'm an optimist and I keep getting let down. I also know ... calm down, it's been 6 weeks and I've lost 14 pounds. That is better than 2 pounds a week. I need to keep repeating that to myself. Over and over and over and over and ....

    First Fill!

Wow. I do not work out an hour a day! I try to be active most days of the week. So that means walks during lunch break, or going to the gym after work. I am not on a real exercise plan or anything. I do strength training 2x a week. For eating ... I'm all over the board. I try to follow the basic rules - protein first, then veggies, then starch. I am making a lot of shredded meats in my slow cooker right now. Super convenient. I eat every few hours, unfortunately. I have a homemade smoothie for breakfast, a protein bar for snack, a frozen dinner for lunch, then some sort of protein/meat for supper.
