Some people will insist on drinking days after surgery regardless of the research. Don't waste your time.

I know the OP meant for this thread to be light and tongue and cheek. But I have to say, seeing some people consuming alcohol just weeks out from surgery kind of floors me a little. Not only do you have a line of staples going down the whole entire sleeve that haven't even begun to heal yet, you are already trying to sabotage any weight loss efforts by consuming empty, non nutritious calories at a critical time where proper nutrition is important for healing.
Like I've said before, I don't care what people do after your'e all healed up. Drink alcohol, eat sweets to your hearts content. You're only hurting your chances of not reaching your weight loss goals and in danger of the whole surgery being all for not. That's none of my business.
What I don't find funny and won't condone are people making light of behaviors that could potentially harm and put you right back in the hospital. For goodness sake, care enough about yourself to at least heal properly before you choose to continue self destructive behaviors that caused you to have surgery in the first place.
I suggest you find a video of a sleeve procedure on YouTube and watch it just to see the amount of healing that needs to take place after you see your little sleeve that looks like Frankenstein when they are done. The doctors aren't telling you not to drink for a certain amount of time just for shits and giggles.

And this is exactly why I measure and log every damn thing that goes into my mouth.
I would eyeball myself back up to 268 in no time if I didn't.

Well, what happened was.......you did not measure out your portion before you started to eat it. I have found that even at 15 1/2 months out, if I do not weigh and measure I can lose my perspective of volume and quantity very quickly.
I have to keep repeating to myself a scientific principle I learned from my father, who was a science and biology teacher. He said that in the lab, you cannot control that which you do not measure. I miss him, but his guidance did not fall on deaf ears. I have had a couple of mishaps like yours and agree. It's over and done before you know what hit you.

It isn't you that caused the upset...it was me expressing my annoyance with this aspect of the forum. I do not go into the men's forum , read posts and look for ones to respond to. I often respond to new posts with no awareness of which forum it is in. Even this rant was in the wrong forum until I moved it.
I feel as though perhaps some are a bit overly sensitive and read motives into actions that are just not there.
I have no intention to "invade" someone space but accidents will happen until the posts are removed from the new posts feed on the webpage.

I love coming home from the gym and tossing some fruit and ice in the blender with some Garden of Life vanilla raw Protein powder. 90 calories plus whatever fruit I added. 17 g of protein. Much better than sitting around eating cheese sticks.

bread pretty much doesn't exist for me any more, but I did keep a pack of these around when I was off bread but still working on killing the cravings:
    http://www.shoprite.com/pd/Bauducco/Toast-Whole-Wheat/5-64-oz/875754000152/
They are 105 calories and 17 carbs for 3 pieces.
I make my sandwiches by wrapping tofurkey up in a slice of cheese or lettuce and making a wrap of it.

I drink 1-2 shakes a day. I think I will continue this forever. When I was playing sports or working out during the off-season and when getting myself ready to join the Army I did the same. Now that I am active again and work out a lot I am back at it. Unlike a lot of people on here I LOVE my brand of Protein and would not drink anything else! It is part of my daily routine. I agree "eating your calories is best but with as hard as I workout and as active as I am outside the gym it is hard for me to get all of the protein I need just in my food intake! Plus my shakes range in the calorie count between 130-170 cal. depending on how I make it so even at 2 a day I am only drinking 340 calories, I used to drink 3x that a day just in soda and beer!

And the point is flying right over your head.
I too had post-surgical acid and turned to my surgeon .... who prescribed Omeprazole, not french fries and hot fudge.
Your friend has been there and done that already. She has hit goal and knows where the slippery slopes are. She's not jealous. She's fully aware that the pounds come off with no effort on your part at this point. She's been there already.
You are free to do what you want, and if you think making excuses for french fries at a week out from surgery is the way to go ... have at it.
I agree with your friend. You are setting yourself up. You could have had more Water instead.
What you are doing in the first few months after surgery is setting up your new lifestyle for the rest of your life.
Most of us work our little treats into our life. I worked out extra at the gym today (and will every day this week) so I could "bank" for something special this weekend. It's not a bad thing in and of itself. What is bad is the food choices and the fact that it was so soon after surgery. You are setting yourself up for trouble.

I have a Chike coffee Protein shake every single morning. It tastes wonderful.
On the weekends I have Marley (as in Bob) Garden of Life Raw Fit coffee or Spiced vanilla Chai for a quick lunch. Also delicious. Not quite as delicious as Chike and all their fabulous flavors, but nice for variety if I don't feel like tossing some fruit in to a Chike strawberry, Orange Creme, banana, etc.
I use my blender and add ice. Comes out like a real shake.< /p>

JerseyCityGal got a reaction from FlabbyNat in Facial hair after surgery -go away?
I've had both and spent thousands on each.
Unfortunately laser hair removal does not work at all on light hair colors (red, blonde, very light brown, white, grey). My upper lip was 90% blonde/red and laser doesn't work at all on that. My chin hair was thicker but more white. Some of it was like bristle. It was awful. Laser doesn't do a thing for it.
And no matter what they tell you when you go in, you are looking at about an 85% permanent hair reduction rate with laser. I went to a medical spa (doctor) to have mine done, and it was very pricey. Twelve 1 hour monthly visits for full leg, underarm, full bikini and toes and I still have to spend a few hundred a year to have new areas / regrowth zapped.
Don't go to anyone but a doctor to have laser because they won't be carrying enough insurance if anything goes wrong.
I'm still happy I got it done because my leg hair was so dark, but you do have to keep touching it up unless you are really lucky.

    Probably not.
Electrolysis is the answer. I went weekly for a year and bi-weekly for another year. Problem solved. Any strays that appear once in a while I just tweeze.

Yup. What everyone else said. Back to basics for you. Try absolutely NO CARBS (or as little you can get) for a while. Just Protein and green, non starchy veggies. TONS of Water.
And some might disagree with me on this, but lay off the strength training and just concentrate on cardio for a while until you are well on your way to losing again. Good luck!

lasting a day on the post op diet is a sign that maybe theres something else here. While this is all hard it does require a lot of discipline. 60 g of carbs is a lot of carbs. also where do the carbs come from? starches like bread, rice, Pasta etc or are they fruit type carbs? or high Fiber carbs. 60 grams of carbs from mostly sugars will undo all your hard work, in an instant.
You have to want this bad enough to make that liquid diet work for a few days. after all you have been through, you should be able to push the liquid diet for 3 days at least. You might also want to adjust your workouts. try alternating cardio with strength training.
You have to make the effort to get the results. I know you know that. So i think you can do this. you did it once, you can do it again.

If you are a little over a week out from surgery and already hitting the french fries and hot fudge .... your friend isn't "projecting". She's trying to nip things in the bud and help you out.
When you are six months out and want to eat two french fries as an occasional treat, you will be able to handle it.
Right now you are just continuing the bad habits that got you to the point where you needed surgery to begin with.
