Food is not appealing

Hello All, I am 2 weeks and 2 days post op. My program introduced soft foods a week out. The first week was ok, but the last week food is just not appealing. I would rather drink protein shakes.. Do you think this is a problem or routine part of the process?

Talked with my surgeon at my post op appointment today. .. he chuckled and said that's great! Isn't that the point?

  • I think at this point the most important thing is getting in all your liquids and Protein. Check with your doctor or nut and see what they say.

It's hard to eat things that don't appeal to you. As for me I prefer sugar free pudding to protein shakes any day lol

In the beginning nothing appealed to me either. Food was disgusting and I only ate and drank to meet my nutritional goals. I even had to brush my teeth after eating or drinking protein shakes to get the taste out of my mouth. However, for most of us your taste comes back (sometimes differently) and your appetite will even out. I am almost 10 months post op and can tolerate almost any type of food and things taste more normal now... Some days that's not a good thing.

Good luck.

It's part of the process.

Some days I'm meh about food and eat to live and other days I'm all OMG pecan crusted tilapia for dinner! Can't wait!
