I have head hunger, but when it comes time to actually eat I rarely enjoy it. It's an interesting paradox.

This was a one of the greatest descriptions of what you can expect to feel about food after surgery that I have read so far! Thank you for sharing this. I pray that my recovery is the same and I feel the same way you do about food after I have my surgery. It really give me hope for a more "normal" life after vsg.

PS--three pounds a week to me would be uber-fast! I guess it's all about perspective. It always fascinates me how people can have such similar weights, energy intake and output, and have such wildly different speeds of weight loss. As the poem that my dear grandmother loved (Desidirata) says: "Do not compare yourself to others, for there will always be greater or lesser people (weight loss), and you will become bitter or vain." This is easier said than done, but I work very hard to do it and count my blessings! I'm down more than 60 lbs (including pre-op) that I'm sure I wouldn't have been if it had not been for this journey.

No offense was meant, just trying to bring a little humor to post-op life, since it's such an intense and emotionally draining experience.
I'm happy for anyone that is working toward their goals and achieving success.

These are the shakes I use every day. I use my dnd iced coffee cup add ice and sip on it it lasts me a long time lol they are the only ones I will drink.

I couldn't deal with the whey scent in any of the powdered protein drinks, they made me physically gag. Finding the Premier Protein shakes (on the advice of my program's excellent dietician) was the only thing that made this surgery possible for me.

I like unjury brand especially the chicken flavor

I drink a premier chocolate for breakfast the last 2 months. vanilla was too sweet. Wish they had Strawberry at Costco.

premier is the best hands down.! Been drinking these since my Jan surgery. Tried about 20 others including
ordering all kinds of samples, yeck! I order them on Amazon and I buy at Costco.

LOVE premier - super jealous that you have the resealable kind because my local Costco just has the pull tops that aren't resealable.
That said, the chocolate is fantastic. I have some vanilla ones to mix with other things - but they are a little too sweet for my taste on their own. However, mixed with some fresh berries, or peanut butter, or SF Chai powder, they taste great. Same cal/protein content as the chocolate.
I've been using these since pre-op, my NUT gives them 2 thumbs up!

I love it too. Like to drink them over ice with leftover morning coffee.

The shakes are not just at Sam's and Costco - I just found them in 4-packs at my local Winn-Dixie!

We did a second 5K this morning, a Color Run where they throw powdered paint on you at 4 stations during your walk, and then you can do it at the end. Anyway, I'm hurting now as I ran at the beginning and the end, but walked rest of it. Did it in a little more than an hour. Really pleased with the progress!! My surgery was in Nov. and I'm now 66. Yaa HOO!!!

How about travels???

I did the same thing! A couple of years ago, before my surgery, I had 1/2 a pkg of all beef hot dogs in the fridge for emergencies. The day after I put them in there, 1 was missing. The next day, another was missing. So, I put a yellow sticky note on them that read:
"Please, help yourself, as you have been.
P.S. I pre-licked them for you!"
No more disappeared.

We had to put names on our stuff and it all wouldn't fit in the freezer when I was teaching.
