    Snack time!

I got into the habit of bringing carots, some almonds, and cherry tomatoes with me. Especially the carrots help me sometimes to overcome the urge for sweets.

Great list, thank you! I also love pure peanut butter, almonds, sun flower seeds, walnuts, and pumpkin seeds

    Yoga---It's for US!

Dear Summer, You could try some of the beginner yoga videos on Youtube. I actually wasted too much money buying Yoga DVDs from Amazon but even the so called "beginner Yoga lessons" were far too hard for me and I couldn't follow the fast pace. In the end Charline from MyFitnessPal recommended me Ms. Fondane's Yoga lessons - Even though the lessons are advertised with shamelessly skinny girls (ok, I'm jealous:)), they're actually super easy to follow, even for me being too big and a total beginner. You can see her teaching the Half Locust on Juli's site: http://sugarfreejuli.com/yoga4all/ (I think I mentioned her already in another post) I hope this helps, Selma

Being a fat lady at a skinny gym...

I know exactly how your feel! I tried it 2 times, but felt extremely intimidated among all these well shaped people potentially staring at me. I wouldn't consider myself being very shy, but I just couldn't work out in an environment where I feel as a stranger, or not comfortable in. Did you try working out at home yet? For me it feels so much more appropriate doing my 'weird' exercises in my living room. If you're like me you can start doing really easy workout at home. You'll find short and easy routines on YouTube or you can try Kris Fondane's super easy beginner Yoga routines. Actually Juli tried them herself on her blog: sugarfreejuli.com/yoga4all/ - I'm still a beginner myself but this is the first time I work out consistently for 3 months now. I wish you all the best!
  9. Happy 33rd Birthday Selma Sunshine!

  10. @CanCan - Yes, it's horrifying. But not just the sugar. Also all those chemicals in there. I'm so glad that I did the challenge, making me aware of these hidden 'poisons' @Dawalsh - You're right, it's hard to stay in control. Especially in the beginning, but it's getting way easier after you've survived the first 3-4 days...and then you'll be so proud of yourself for being/eating healthy

    Alternative...

Jachut, Thanks for the recommendation! I just discovered them here in a nearby shop called "Veggies" - quite expensive but worth the price
  12. CanCan, Yes it comes with a lot of recipes and snack ideas - I was kind of shocked when I started to read labels when buying groceries..didn't expect so much sugar in all of those products I ate for years!

    Arms Workout

Hi Dee_jo, You can work on your arms easily at home with elastic bands. Here a video on how to do the exercise:

    Alternative...

Rice crackers are also a great alternative.
  15. CanCan, I find myself in the same situation as you. I think what has helped me the most is to limit the servings I have available to me. I have also found new things to replace bad sugars for my "sweet tooth" I recently discovered that if you cut up bananas, drizzle them with honey and then put a little cinnamon on them, it helps a ton! It is just what I need and tastes fantastic! Then last months I did the 21 day sugar detox challenge (for your ref.: timreviews.com/21daysugardetox) ...it was so hard in the beginning, but in the end it became easier to resist sweets. The cravings, if any, are now so slight that they are easy to resist. Even coffee holds no appeal for me now as I like mine with sugar. I think the most dramatic change I experienced is that I actually ease to sleep at 11 p.m. and stay there without waking up several times in the evening. Before I used to sleep at 2 a.m., wake up several times at night and get out of bed at 9 a.m., feeling cranky and exhausted. Good luck.
