A Crazy Question
It took me 6 months and 4 fills to start to feel restriction. I just got my 6th fill and I'm pretty sure I'm smack dab in the green zone. I am not physically hungry, but even now often feel mentally hungry. There are trigger foods for me...chips and icecream make me "hungry" even when I'm not hungry....if that makes sense. Anyhow...keep doing what you are supposed to do and as those pounds keep dropping it gets easier to forget that hunger.

Biggest Loser Finale (If you haven't watched it yet do not read)
Kitt...I completely agree that it's unkind to judge either direction...in this case, if I hadn't watched Rachel's journey I may have not felt such a strong reaction to how small she was. Debbie...I thought Jillian explained it pretty well...caffeine pill vs drinking buckets of coffee. I guess I just think that all the trainers (and I'm partial to Jillian) ultimately want a healthy result for the contestants...and probably don't care about the win so much.

That is crazy. Makes you think the show format should be changed somehow doesn't it.

Biggest Loser Finale (If you haven't watched it yet do not read)
I really think this extreme loss was about the $$. Now that she has the $$ I'm hoping she puts a few pounds back on so she is back to athlete and not skeletal. Besides...you know there was no way Rachel made it out of that Finale without Jillian talking to her about the extreme loss. If any of the trainers are going to be blunt and straight it's her. I'll bet they follow up closely with her too. BL doesn't want an anorexic looking role model either.

Biggest Loser Finale (If you haven't watched it yet do not read)
I have to add that the clip where the doctor tells her she was only 5% away from professional athlete body fat percentages was what struck me after seeing her at the finale and realizing she had lost another 35-40 pounds since he'd made that comment. That is what really made me think she'd lost too much. There was no muscle anymore on her frame.

Biggest Loser Finale (If you haven't watched it yet do not read)
I watched and was shocked. I didn't think she looked healthy at all. I hope she went that low for the money win. I'm hoping she adds about 15 pounds back on for maintenance. It was hard for me to look at her bones and not think anorexic... Praying its not an eating disorder! Either way...her transformation was incredible!

Complete loss of appetite
I get it B52. My doctor uses the same chart. I don't have too much restriction...I don't crush pills...I'm just simply not hungry. And I have to respond to the above... Cheryl, whether you disagree or not or would never want to not feel hungry or not...the fact remains that this is how the green zone feels for us. And if you'd read his post you would have read that he eats through the mental part of not being hungry. And so do I. There is no starvation or malnutrition going on. No going 24 hours without meals...So half your post doesnt even apply to what the original topic was. Even lellow talks about setting a timer to remind herself to eat. I plan my meals around when my children eat...that's my mental timer. There may be those who stop eating and what you describe woud be their reality, but it's not an automatic that anyone whose green zone allows them to not feel hunger is going to be anorexic or stop eating completely.

GUILT no more
I could have written that post, Healthy! And CG is right...looking forward there is a bright future leaving all that guilt behind. Weight loss doesn't fix everything, but for me it's given me the strength and energy and confidence to tackle the other stuff.

Complete loss of appetite
I think it's different for everyone. My loss of appetite is not because my band is too tight. I have no trouble eating. Yesterday for dinner I had shredded pork carnitas minus the tortilla topped with guacamole, sour cream, cheese and lettuce. I ate the equivalent of a full cup of that. And it took me about 45 min to eat it. But, I could have just as easily not eaten anything and been fine. This morning I ate one scrambled egg and 1/2 cup of oatmeal. But I wasn't "hungry"... There is no one size fits all solution with the band or any other diet/weight loss efforts including what the green zone means for an individual. Eating as little as I do my labs come back good, my Vitamin levels are good and my doctor certainly doesn't call it starvation or malnutrition.

Complete loss of appetite
I just posted a bit about this on my blog. I also have no hunger in the green zone. I am forcing myself to eat at least twice per day because my loss slows and almost stops completely when I don't. So for me the lack of appetite has a detrimental affect on my band. I'm still in the "figure it all out" mode...I have to say having been on both sides I prefer this to being hungry all the time, but as my ultimate goal is health I also know eating well is what will get me there.

Reward Yourself! What's Yours?
Beautiful! I have a peridot ring my mom gave to me long ago. Its too big, but I don't want to size it down yet until I'm "done" with my weight loss. While I haven't settle on a prize yet...funny enough...I've been eyeing some beautiful rings...they are one thing I want to wait on because I know my ring finger size will change. The more weight I lose the more excited I get about wearing jewelry. I never used to wear rings, necklaces or bracelets...It might be because before I felt like it drew too much attention to me. Now I'm like, "Hey...check me out with my jewelry bling." ha ha ha...

Parents the start of over eating
It wasn't until I started this process that I even realized I'd try and make my kids eat "just a few more bites..." I did a lot of reading and the basic principle is that no child ever starved themselves...if they are hungry they will eat. I've also stopped even offering "dessert." My kids get a treat occasionally at random times during the day...but I don't ever want them to associate eating meals with a sugary reward after!
