Cedri got a reaction from taylor1989 in May 7th banding houston tx
I was actually in the hospital for 3 days. I had a reaction to the particular anesthesia they were using (pretty rare). I'd say you'll be in pain but mobile on day 3, starting to feel better day 4, and pretty much fine (with the help of those awesome meds) by day 5. That was my experience. Everyone's different though.

I was recently banded. Best thing to do is just relax through it!

It's just finding out what kind of person you are really. The first appt. should be a short interview then the second should be a type of personality test. They really want emotionally stable people undergoing elective surgery instead of people that will have issues post op. Wouldn't worry about it.

    Cedri,
Nice job naming this post! You'll get lots of views for sure!
As I see you are newly banded, I'll offer a bit of encouragement/advice: WHEN you get to proper restriction, and it may take some time, this ADJUSTABLE band will kick in and do its part. I don't have to Portion Control now, I just try and choose healthier options and my band does the portion control...and I'm loving it.
Until then, follow your surgeons/Nuts recommended plan as best you can. Don't get discouraged if you have a bad day/week, etc. You'll make mistakes, probably get stuck, PB, etc. NOT TO WORRY, you'll learn from it and move forward. It is a diet in the beginning, now it's just normal to me.
Congrats on your decision to improve your life, and best wishes for your success!

I thought it was a good title. XD We got some humor and some serious answers. Thanks to Cat, that was exactly what I was looking for. Being a tall guy and sticking to a low cal diet, this should work out just fine.

    I'm 6'0" as well 43y/o.
This BMR/Calorie, from the mayo clinic website ( http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/calorie-calculator/NU00598counter ) would tell me I could "eat" 2950 calories per day to MAINTAIN my current weight. (I chose the "active" activity level, because it sounded correct to me)
I started tracking/logging my food/exercise on Jan 14th. NOT to limit what I eat, but I was just curious. Here's what I have found.
I averaged eating about 1750 calories per day. Average calories burned exercising was appx 600 per day. So my Net was 1150 calories. During this timeframe, three months, I went from 252# down to 218#, for a loss of 34#'s.
Everybody says a pound equals 3500 calories. THEY'RE right!
    My BMR 2950
    My Intake 1750
    1200 calorie deficit for 90 days = 108,000 calorie deficit. 108,000/3500 = 31 And I lost almost exactly that.

Here's some examples of a typical meal for me pre lap band:
    EX1
    1qt Beef Fried rice
    10 chicken wings
    2 egg rolls
    2 cans soda
    EX2
1 medium sausage, pepperoni and Canadian bacon pizza
5 bread sticks with 4oz of marinara
    EX3
    2/3 lb Pasta
    1 cup Alfredo sauce
    1/2 lb chicken breast
    3 slices garlic toast
Needless to say that was excessive with that Alfredo clocking in at over 3000 calories. I only really ate once per day, but it was still 3000 calories. So now that I haven't been getting very many calories in a day my weight has been plummeting. But that's going from 3000cal/day to almost nothing, so obviously the huge change will do that. For you, your body is used to weight watchers and has adjusted it's metabolism to receiving that 1200cal/day. You'll still lose the weight. Slowly, but it will go away. Just up your exercise and even 300cal per day will make a big difference in your weight loss plan.

Before the 10 day liquid diet, 359. Two days before banding I was 336. Two days after banding I was 346. Totally normal. Just be glad you're +7 lbs in Water, means you're keeping hydrated properly!
