Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Terri, didn't lose all that since banding. Started when I first saw surgeon in August of 06! Don't I wish. You know since I am soo heavy, a lot of people really haven't noticed. I pretty much have lost 30 or so pounds since the band. The surgery will be done open, I wish it was laproscopic, but I am hoping the incision will be small, unless the Dr. was joking I can go back to work in a few days after surgery!! Michelle, I love the ice cream party!!! I laughed soo hard!!!! I am not a big ice cream fan, but Edys is good. I am sure you will have fun!! Too bad they are not sending someone to serve it and clean up!!! That should be part of the deal too!!!!! Jane

Judy--Your yard is gorgeous!! I love clematis!!! Well I just found out yesterday that I have to have more surgery. I am bummed out, but hope this is the answer. I have had a fluid problem ever since I got this hernia repaired at the same time I got a band. They have drained it 3 times and gotten a liter of fluid all times. So I went for an ultrasound guided aspiration of the hernia area, and it didn't happen. So, Tuesday they will make an incision and break up all the fluid pockets, drain the fluid, and then burn the area. Hopefully this will be the end of that problem, and all will heal great!!! On the positive side the band is GREAT!!!! I have great restriction and it has NEVER caused me an ounce of trouble or pain!!! Positive thoughts for a good outlook on Tuesday is appreciated. Jane

Have had trouble (actually I have not been able to post at all) so here goes again tonight. I tried to post last night a welcome and to tell Terri how much i liked the picture. As far as the band goes, I am VERY lucky that I have a Dr. that is for giving me a full band. I have the Vanguard band and have had two fills, both 3cc's, and have a great restriction. I know that aggravation that I had before I got the fills (especially the last one). The band does work and works great, but you have to have the restriction!!! Don't ever think that it is not going to work, because it will!!! Just be very aggressive in getting the fills. Good Luck, Jane

As far as the banding goes, I read somewhere that if you have the Vanguard band you can get it filled in 2 weeks, if you have the smaller one it is at least 4 weeks. Don't know why the difference. I have the larger one and have great restriction. My Dr. is the best!!! I am not getting anything from this site about new posts. Anyone else have this problem? I have a hard enough time finding this sometimes, I hope they don't move it. I was looking for what Jennifer said was a 'sub' thread and just couldn't find it. Why do they want this to move? If it is too big can they just archive the first 100 or so pages? Well I hope everyone has a great week!! Jane

Denise, Make sure your hair is not dry (by dry I mean lacking in moisture, not really damaged). Depending on where you live, the sun and the heat just sucks the moisture out of your hair. In addition to the vitamins and making sure that you have enough protein, you probably need a good moisturizer like Nexus Humectress. It use to be available on in a salon, now you can get it anywhere except a salon. It is really good stuff, a little thick so I water it down (plus I am cheap!!). Jane

Happy birthday Terri!!! Congrats on the weight loss!!! Tracy-- I have actually 6cc's in my band! She gave me 3 cc's each time. I am very tight and restricted. There is NO WAY I can eat too much. Lost 10 pounds last week with this new restriction, but now for the past few days the scale hasn't moved. I shouldn't be checking every day anyways!! I am a hairdresser, been doing it for over 20 years, perms are not as scary as they used to be! Although every time I say I want a perm they all say no! But, I really think that the super straight hair is coming to an end and we are going to be looking at more body and or curls. Have a good day!! Jane

I am so proud of all people who get up and exercise!!! I had to get up at 6:30 for a 8:00 meeting and you would have thought the world ended!!! I am jealous because I can't seem to do that. I belong to a gym, I belong to Curves, but haven't gone because of my hernia, I think next week I can go, it will be 2 months since surgery. But I only like to go at a specific time because they are not crowded and I don't want anybody to see me excercise. Maybe when I have lost more weight I will feel more secure working out. Jane

Laura, That is TERRIBLE about your house! I would be so mad!!! I do remember when a friend of mine moved into a new subdivision, they did lock the house, but the key was in the mailboxes. I remember this friend and I taking a tour of all the houses that way. Of course we were very respectfull, but everyone knew where the keys were. That was about 15 years ago. I know I sound old when I say this, but there is just no respect these days for peoples things. Jane

Laura, The dress and shoes look great!!! The ribbon shoes are adorable!!! Be glad you are 23!! I don't think my feet could handle those shoes after 44 years of all this extra weight!!! Went out to dinner tonight with a friend, ordered a margarita, and couldn't finish it! Then I ordered a salad and ate a small but okay amount, it is going to take a few days to get use to this much restriction. I am very very very lucky my Dr. believes in giving me a lot!! I think she is also secretly hoping that if I lose some extra weight, the problem that I am having with my hernia repair might lessen. Have a good night and once again Laura glad everything is back on track for you!!! Jane

Wow!!! Just got back from another fill, and I got 3cc's!!!!!!! I am going to be skinny by next week!!! The lap band is going GREAT!!! The hernia is just a pain to heal!!!! I have fluid that is forming and she has taken off a liter of fluid each time. I am getting frustrated, but there is nothing I can do. So the moral of the story is I will be back on Monday boasting about my 100 pound weight loss in 5 days!!! Jane

I am off to the Dr. for a possible 2nd fill. I think it is a good idea. I think living with this fill for two weeks I feel not much restriction. I have lost weight though so I don't know what she will do. She is also going to drain my hernia site for a third time. Keep your fingers crossed that she gets less than a liter this time!!!!! I want this hernia problem to be over and it is making me VERY crabby!!! It is nothing serious, just a inconvience!!!! I am in St. Louis, and they are warning us about the winds coming this afternoon, you Tracy are in Kansas City I believe, so I guess the weather people are right!!! Have a good one!!! Jane

I too watched that "Big Medicine" last night and saw it last week too. It is really interesting. I wonder if lap band is something they do. No matter what I think it is a common struggle no matter what procedure you have done. I am losing weight again, but does anyone at this point feel like this is another thing they will fail at? It is amazing that I feel this way. I feel like I am not going to reach my goal, and I don't really even have one! Just wondering if anyone else feels this way! Jane by the way Tracy, I didn't feel any restriction until I ate real food!!

What is this??? As far as the size of your band -- look at your wallet band card that you received and tell us the type it says and I am sure one of us can help determine -- Jane

Laura, I reached 298 two days before my surgery, so I know what it means!!! I hit my high of 349 in August of 06. Now, you may jump up in weight a little bit, so don't let that phase you!!!! Congrats on your accomplishment!!!!!!!!!! Jane

I need an extra day in May to get all my exercise in!!! I guess we can't create that huh? I need to think about my June exercise! Changing the subject to fills, I had a fill Thursday of 3cc's. Everything seemed fine and was so very happy with the restriction, now the past few days I have sort of thrown up, it was probably a pb. Nothing hurt and no sound (tmi), but I did feel a ball in my chest for a while. It seemed to happen a few days after I had my fill, do you think it is probably just a little swelling or do I need to get some taken out? I have an appointment on thursday June 7th, so I do have a little while. Let me know you opinions because everyone always have great suggestions. Jane

Bubbles, For me I didn't really have a lot of restriction right after surgery. Now with my fill it is 500% better than after surgery!!! Hang in there, it is coming!!!! Jane

Tracy, There is light! When you get your fill, and you will, it is like 'this is why I had this done', it really is a great feeling, it is really amazing what a difference it makes!!!! I am four days or so out from my fill and I have done a complete 360 on my band!! Jane
