  1. Congratulations on your wedding, and good luck with your weight loss. I'm sure will all be here to keep you encouraged. Sounds like your doing the right things. So keep it up. I don't know how much protein you get in, but it is suppose to really help with hunger and weight loss. My bariactric nurse said she sees about a 10% difference in weight loss with people who hit there protein goals. ~~~Stephanie
  2. I've just been banded so I don't have any personal experience, but I've read a lot of post that have talked about stress and that it can tighten the band. ~~~Stephanie
  3. They say that taking it could cause an ulcer in the pouch and could then erode the band, at least that what I read. I think it would take more than one time though. But hey I'm not a doctor. ~~~Stephanie
  4. Congratulations, that's a great job. Keep up the good work. I hope to follow in your footsteps, I was just banded Tuesday. ~~~Stephanie
  5. I agree with sharpie I had mostly the same reasons. I did not want my insides cut up or rerouted. I would have went with lap-band with plication, but my Dr. did not offer it and my insurance wouldn't pay for it. Plus if there come a time that it has to be removed I figured they may know a lot more about WLS and there maybe more options. ~~~Stephanie
  6. I am from North Carolina, but I live in Haslet Texas. Moved around a lot though, grew up military, I went in the military, and husband retired military. Never been were you are though. Except passing through. ~~~Stephanie
  7. Welcome, I did not have to do anything except my cardiac clearance, ultrasound,Psych eval, and nutritionist consult. It would have all been done in about a month, but I ran into a snag with my cardiac clearance almost did not get banded. Because of that it took about 5 mths and then another month for me to finish out school for the semester. . Good luck, It does seem to go by in a blink I just got banded Tuesday it went by fast looking back. ~~~Stephanie
  8. My Dr. did not require any weight loss which was a good thing because I gained weight. What can I say I had a 6 mth wait and no restriction, I just ate normal till the High Protein low carb diet I read about in the paper work they gave me, that they never mentioned anything about. So I got started late I loss 4 pounds But I had gained 30. But now I have the band to help me. So will see. Stephanie
  9. I could not hardly get anything down the day of the surgery, but I did the next day. But like I was saying it was uncomfortable. If your protein drinks are a clear fluid, like mine I mix with a cup of water and they are like a juice. I think it counts as a fluid. If they are straight up milky I don't know. Seems to me if you add any water that water would count. ~~~Stephanie
  10. I looked it up, sorry I can be a little slow sometimes. Sounds like a good food plan and it makes sense too. ~~~Stephanie
  11. Do you mind if I ask what it is? A type of diet? Have not heard of it. I guess I could look it up uh. I won't be eating for almost another 4 weeks anyway. ~~~Stephanie
  12. Yea I had my surgery Tuesday and I feel the exact same way, when I drink I feel like a blow fish.is in my upper stomach. Was even wondering if I could stretch my pouch, but everybody is saying they felt the same. I guess it is like you said gas and Fluid. It is very uncomfortable. It was hard to get all my Protein in but I finally am, 80 mg, Protein drinks of course. Good luck with your recovery. ~~~Stephanie
  13. Can you possibly stretch out your pouch on liquids? I am so bloated and full when I drink anything. It does not feel like gas, but I guess it could be. I had my surgery Tuesday. ~~~Stephanie
  14. My Dr. said as you lose weight your stomach shrinks so your band won't be as tight anymore, and you may need other fills as you lose. And then I have heard there are just times when we are tighter or loser. ~~~Stephanie
  15. I'm doing OK except for getting up and down. And I feel so full and bloated when I drink anything. How about you? I'm worried I'll stretch my pouch, can you do that on liquids? ~~~Stephanie
  16. You are so lucky you get to have full liquids on day 2 out of surgery. I have to wait a week. The first thing I'm gonna try I think will be a cream Soup then maybe yogurt if i can handle the soup good. That's if I can have yogurt on full liquids I have to check my list. Unlike revdrkatie I don't have to get out and do anything big till Monday. I had my surgery the same as you and her. I'm wondering if you can stretch your pouch on liquids because I feel so full and bloated when I drink anything. How about you? Good luck with your recovery. ~~~Stephanie
  17. That was to cool. And congrats on your weight loss. ~~~Stephanie
  18. Are you on full liquids or mushies. I'm just curious because I start full liquids on Tuesday and wondered what it might consist of besides shakes and cream soups. Sorry your having a hard time, I can relate though. ~~~Stephanie.
  19. You will be OK Stephanie. I on day 3 from my surgery and it has gotten a little better so yours should too. Luckily my babies are only 10 pounds, but I still don't let them jump in my lap, I'm afraid they'll hit my stomach. But yes getting up and down is the worse especially getting up and down from the toilet. Good luck girl Stephanie
  20. I can so relate. I lost a lot of weight one time and out of no where went to cross my legs and they crossed. It was a glorious feeling, but course I gained that weight back plus some. I'm looking forward to that not happening this time. Congratulations girl! ~~~Stephanie
  21. I don't get a fill for three more weeks but I thought I'd go ahead and ask. My Dr. told me that he puts the port in deeper than normal so it doesn't show after you lose weight. He does use a local anesthetic and fluoroscope. But I was still curious if it hurt more because it's in deeper. Has anyone else had theirs put in deeper or know someone and does it hurt more? I don't know if this is something that he just does or if it is a new way so not to have to go to a low profile port. ~~~Stephanie
  22. Congrats on your surgery. I just had mine 2 days ago, I did not stay over night. Good luck with your journey. Maybe you'll get lucky and not have the gas pains, mine as not been real bad, thankfully ~~~Stephanie.
  23. Just starting, had my surgery 2 days ago. Love this site it helped me out a lot while I was waiting to get banded. I've lost a total of 9 pounds to start and the rest will be history. I intend on using this site to give me the support, encouragement, and tough love I will need from time to time. Thanks Alex ~~~Stephanie
  24. I have some Hibiscus flowers on my upper back between my shoulder blades. I got it when we were stationed in Hawaii. It was my first one, I think I was 38 when I got it. I want some peacock feathers but I don't know were to put them. Any ideas? Or maybe some thing to symbolize my weight loss when it happens ~~~Stephanie
  25. I wonder if there is something hitting the diaphragm? I read some where in my research that the diaphragm does not feel the pain it radiates the pain to the left shoulder. Just thought I'd mention it. I don't know that it would help at all. Just thought it might be information to have. Sorry your having problems. Hope you get better soon. ~~~Stephanie
