I don't get a fill for three more weeks but I thought I'd go ahead and ask. My Dr. told me that he puts the port in deeper than normal so it doesn't show after you lose weight. He does use a local anesthetic and fluoroscope. But I was still curious if it hurt more because it's in deeper. Has anyone else had theirs put in deeper or know someone and does it hurt more? I don't know if this is something that he just does or if it is a new way so not to have to go to a low profile port.

I had my port flip 3 mths out and before we realized that, I was poked about 14 times while Dr trying to find port. It did not hurt at all. Dr kept apologizing and I kept say " not a problem, don't worry". Finally I had to go to hospital for a fluro and yep, port turned upside down. Since having it fixed, it still doesn't hurt.

Try not to worry about it. Its really not as bad as it sounds.

ps. I wish mine was deeper. Feels rather gross now.lol

I'm 17 pounds from goal weight and you can't see my port, even when I suck in... however you can definitely feel it. I love to feel it because it's a reminder that I've got a helper in this weight loss thing. My Dr. numbs the site and I've never felt anything.

Mine is not at all noticeable now, but I could always feel it. You probably will be able to feel yours too. I am sure it will be fine especially with your doc doing fills with fluoro!

How deep can he go? Generally it is attached to the abdominal wall muscles....below all the skin and fat layers...deeper than that would be very painful indeed when getting a fill....

When all the belly fat is gone, and there is nothing left but a thin layer of skin, then it will be very noticeable. Especially if you belly is tight and hard from all those crunches....

My port is so noticeable...it is large lump...looks like a horizontal lollipop, the stem being the tubing which you can also see very clearly....a one armed blind man can do an adjustment....
