  3. I had my surgery the 28th of May and I just today felt the weight lifted off my chest, I also had a hernia repair. I also don't feel gassy today. But I do still have some pain in my belly, in the muscle area. As far as weight loss I've loss none since surgery they say it is from Water retention and not to worry about weight loss right now, just to focus on healing. Other than that I'm doing good it got a little better each day, but I can say I feel a lot better today. Good luck ~~~Stephanie
  4. I have two separate questions. First I had surgery the 28th of May and I have one spot that is extremely sore but it is not the port site it is between the port site and another incision it is on the right side across from my belly button. It does not hurt to touch it, it hurts to move, breath, or laugh. Does it sound like just a muscle or something I should call the Dr. about? It is not red or swollen and there is no discharge. Second, I am trying not to worry but I have not lost much of anything since the surgery, and being that I'm just on liquids I would have expected to lose something. I know I should be focused on recovery but I was just concerned why I wouldn't loose on just liquids. Is my body just in starvation mode maybe? I was losing when I was eating about 1400 calories a day. It is just weird not to lose on liquids. I'm just drinking my Protein shakes and strained Soups, oatmeal no sugar, sugar-free pudding, sugar-free Popsicle. Is it normal to not lose weight until you get the right fill? ~~~Stephanie

    where to start

You could start by calling your insurance company to see if they cover lap-band or other WLS's and then ask them if you need a referral from your Primary care doctor. Then ask them who is in your network, and call them. Or you can just go to the seminar and they can answer your questions, like if they except your insurance. Or you can call around to different Bariactric doctors and see if they except your insurance and they would be the ones who file with the insurance. Hope that helps ~~~Stephanie
  7. Does anybody know why when I went to post to a blog it said it would have to go through the moderator for approval? Just never happened before. I'm worried I did something wrong . ~~~Stephanie

You may want to start taking Miralax it is a stool softener/laxative. It is common to get constipated after surgery, sounds like you need some help in that area. ~~~Stephanie

  11. Hi PrettyThick1, I've been doing Ok, I have been dealing with some nausea I thick I may be drinking to fast. I saw my Doc yesterday and all is well, they put in a 10cc band. I get my first fill on the 19th of June. I'm so tired of the liquids. But since I'm still getting nauseated I don't know if I'll be able to handle mushies on Tuesday, depending on what's causing it. What do you think? ~~~Stephanie

    Liquid diet 1 week

Unless your a diabetic there shouldn't be a problem as long as you do everything the Doc. and Nutritionist says. I was worried about the same thing, but the nut (nutritionist) was just concerned if I was diabetic. I had no problems at all on my liquid diet. If your really concerned call your nut and ask them what you do if that happens ~~~Stephanie

    The Little Things....

Very good information. Thanks for sharing ~~~Stephanie
  19. I had to do one, but I do know people who's bmi was like 55 or so an did not have to do one. So I don't know the rhyme or reason, except that it is done to shrink the liver, and it seems the heavier you are the more that would be needed. But it must depend on the Dr. too. ~~~Stephanie

    Can't find....

Hey has anyone been able to find sugar-free yogurt? The only ones I found our just Fat-free. And while were on the subject what about frozen fruit bars without added sugar, couldn't find any at Wal-Mart? Do they exist? I did find sugar free Italian Ice and sugar-free Popsicle. But that's not what I wanted. I thought there would be some fruit bars with Splenda or something. Thanks ~~~Stephanie

    Hair loss?

That does seem to be a problem with fast weight loss. You'll probably hear from a number of people. My Dr. suggested making sure you take a good Multivitamin, eating at least 75 grams of Protein a day, and using Nioxin shampoo. ~~~Stephanie

    List of post-op needs

You'll want to put the pillow in front of your stomach and hold it there with your arm or hand. It is for when you go over a bump or sharp turns. You can also use it when you get up and down when sitting. It helps support your stomach so your muscles don't have to. Trust me you'll want it with you on the ride home:) Does that help? ~~~Stephanie

    mis73?

I do believe her real name is Missy it is written above her ticker I do believe. I don't think her Doc would tell us anything, although he may be able to pass along a message, but I don't think he can even acknowledge her as being a patient though. I'm concerned about not hearing from her. Seems like our hands are tied, unless someone knows her personally. Say prayers ~~~Stephanie
