Did my Yoga and attempted to match my movements with the more difficult poses. Also, did my resistance bands exercises. I am hurting today after my hike yesterday. Muscles are aching where I didn't even know I had muscles.
    But, I'm feeling accomplished!!

BlueMoon~T got a reaction from 2muchfun in first fill due what shud i expect
@@Size66 everyone's experience after a fill is different. In my experience after my first fill I felt a small difference. My Dr. puts me on clear liquid for a day, full liquid for two days, then mushies for two more days. Again, every Dr. is different. The diet after the fill helps your body adjust to the fill and allows time for swelling to dissipate. Sometimes you might not feel any restriction for a couple of weeks.
So, your eating will have to change according to what your surgeon's recommendations are. Then you will have to wait and see how you feel afterwards.
Also, did your surgeon or nutritionist give you some guidelines as far as how much protein/veggies/carbs Fluid you should be eating? I was just curious because you stated your eating is just as it was pre-band.
    Good luck with your fill!

Easier compared to what? Everything is relative... Ignorance of the dedication it takes to be compliant WLS "losers". There are plenty of people on this forum that haven't been successful with their surgeries. I'm not judging, but you have to change your lifestyle. No matter what surgery you have and if you don't it won't work. So, easy... no way!
Oddly enough, my two best friends are gym rats and runners and have been my biggest supporters. The negativity has come from friends and family who are over-weight. Now, I'm just letting my progress speak for itself.
If ppl don't like it, tell them to kiss your shrinking ass!

"For example, if you believe that cashews are a “trigger food” and you have no history of eating cashews responsibly, it would be silly to continue to buy the one-pound jar of cashews from the bulk food store"
For me, you hit the nail on the head with this example. I'm fine with walnuts, pecans, peanuts, but cashews or macadamia nuts are trigger foods. Thinking about it, so is ice cream and a few others.
And I agree wholeheartedly with your approach. I've been doing this for a few years now but never really put a label or thought to it. Maybe once a month I'll grab one of the little single serve Hagen Das from the ice cream isle and gobble it down. But having it in my freezer turns into a daily routine. So I don't.
Great article and an affirmation that I'm doing something right.

IMO there is no way to change your outside without also changing your inside as well. Who you become as a thin person can also be worked on, just like you workout your body and eat right to make the right outcome. Pay close attention to how you are treating others because it is a known issue that we can feel upset or angry as we lose weight. We are forced to face our demons head on and it's rarely pleasant. We no longer have food to make us comfortably numb so we have no other remedy!
If this person is a good friend then I recommend talking with him and ask him exactly how you are changing in personality? Is it for the better or what is it about the new you he doesn't particularly care for. Sure we can all say "who cares if he doesn't like the new you" but in reality that is just ridiculous. If we thought that about everyone we will end up alone.
Perhaps you need to reel in your feelings a bit more? I don't know... but just be aware that post WLS life does include us changing in a lot of ways personality wise. Just remind those you are close to that no matter what your feelings for them as a person won't change, and keep that communication line open for them.
    Best,

I have one cat I rescued but he doesn't get the attention he deserves because of these two boys:
Ziggy is a 12 pound Maltese terror I rescued. He is the craziest little psycho dog -- hates everyone but his woman... me. He lays as close to me as possible at all times. He will do every trick in the book for me but will rush my son if he gets anywhere close to me.
Tank is my 57 pound pittie. He's a huge sweetheart -- loves everyone -- but can also be a hyper crazed chewing machine. He was also a rescue and fooled us with that cute little puppy face (although I should have known how big he'd get with those giant paws).
I love my furbabies... the kids will sometimes say "You love them more than us" and I tell them it's because those dogs thing I rock their world!!!

    Which pet is the best?
I like them both! Cats are truly under estimated by us lazy and self centered human creatures. They are brilliant and if you've ever potty trained a cat and a dog you would definitely agree the cat wins that battle hands down.
That said a dogs love is truly amazing! They shadow you and calm your heart like no other animal can do, and they are brilliant in their own way. I have 9 pets and I love them all the same. 6 rescued alley cats from certain doom and fate, and 3 adorable maltese dogs (1 of which is mixed with mini poodle). My eldest is a feline whom I rescued as a very tiny kitten. He was barely over a pound and I had to feed him back to life. He is 15 years old now and though he is slowing down a lot he still always shows his appreciation for me saving him.
Believe it or not they do all get along really well and rarely do they have a bit of a scuffle. It's never anything serious though! It's usually just one of them playing too rough.
They are my little furbuddies! It's never a dull moment in our house! It's fun though and the respect I have for life has grown more impassioned with them in my world. I cherish what they have done for me, and in the darkness of despair they left the light on for me.

I woke up today with a little bit better attitude. I refuse to let him or anyone else bring me down because that's exactly what they want. I live in a small town so this is the only gym I can attend, but since the weather is nicer I am going to start walking and jogging outside. I can do zumba and stuff like that in my house so I plan to stay away from that gym unless it's super early or super late until I am completely out of this funk. At this point I don't know if I can see him without punching him or throwing something in his direction JUST because it would make me feel better. I will be successful and get out of this funk. I keep telling myself if I didn't have surgery I would be 428 plus more I am sure. Thank you for the words of encouragement and for the kick ass attitude..which is what I need get back! Thanks yall!

@@BandedCandace, first off *Hugs* Secondly, you have lost a lot of weight. You should be proud of your progress! Don't let dumbass take that away from you. If your switching your food around remember its still more calories spent than calories consumed. You could be building muscle. Have you measured yourself or noticed a difference in the way your clothes are fitting. Look for ANY NSV! You've got this. I'm so with you on wanting to give a giant middle finger to the people who have said negative things about my WLS. But seriously, you have to get the attitude of F*** em! You did this for yourself and you can do this. Don't give up you're worth this fight, this struggle, it's part of our WANT to WILL ourselves to be successful. You have an entire community here who want to see you reach your goals. The only failure here would be you giving up! Find your mantra and when you feel like giving up, say it over and over.
Now, I can be emotional too. I sometimes wear my feelings on my sleeve and all I can say is use it. Cry if you need to but get angry at those assholes that are giving you shit! Find an exercise that let's you release some of your frustrations. Oddly enough, yoga works for me.
Now go get em tiger! We've got your back!

@@kassy07 I'm not sure if I'm the best at motivating people on here, but it sounds like you need to take a step back and remind yourself why you got WLS to begin with. Also, your weight loss is good and you should be proud of what you've accomplished this far. We all knew or should have known that this process would not be easy. We all have/had to face our challenges with food. After all, the band is there to help us it doesn't cure us. This is the time when you have to dig deep because only you can WANT this for yourself...and let me just say you deserve it.
If your surgical center does not offer support groups see what you can find on Facebook. You can also check out the mentors section on this site to see if there is someone you can connect with and have some accountability to. When I feel down I read through some of the success stories on here or listen to my favorite music. Exercise even helps tremendously to keep my eye on the prize. Your self sabotaging by going for sliders. Don't keep them in the house if you can help it. Have faith that you'll get to the green and teach your mind to listen to your band...not just your head. Ask yourself if you're truly hungry or are you bored, lonely, depressed, anxious. I used to be an emotional eater. I still struggle, it's not always easy, but I want to be a thinner and healthier me more than I want to eat crap food.< /p>
You've got this! Don't give up on YOU!

This is a good read. I definitely lean towards the alter approach. After all, this isn't just another diet. As you mentioned, most of the time foods placed on "not allowed" list will soon be calling our names. Usually ending with a guilt ridden binge. Like TMF stated, only enough for one serving, or at least IMO a taste to soothe that craving.
Lastly, the mindful eating has been the biggest difference in my weight loss process. My WLS helps me be mindful of everything I put into my mouth, how big the bites are and how long I chew. Then waiting for that sensation that what I've eaten has passed through my band. Mindful always of all things good or not so good that I put into my body. It's all altered from the place I was.

If this recurrent pain is difficult for you to cope with, I would definitely encourage you to discuss this with your GYN about your treatment options. In the long run, it is just not worth the risks of irritating your GI system with NASIDS. I had foot surgery times 2, and took a total of 4 Advil Gelcaps with my bariatric surgeons knowledge and approval over a 4 month time span for post op inflammation. The result was a painful case of gastritis and a 4 month long treatment with carafate to calm the inflammation.
Your doctor likely knows of more options for you to get the pain relief you need. There are valid reasons for avoiding NASIDS as we were initially advised, and even when the surgeon gives permission to bend the rules, things can go wrong.
    Best wishes...
