Jackie, sorry your experience wasn't what you expected. I stay out of the threads where there is neg info given and the poster is called out as a troll...I just don't want any part of that stuff.
If I had complications, I wouldn't feel okay posting it on this site. There is def a group of ppl who can't handle the possibility that they could be there someday. Live and let live.
I know that the longer I have my band the more I risk complications. Once I reach goal, I'm going to gradually unfill and then prolly have it removed once I maintain for 6 months or so. It's a tool...it's going back in the box once I'm done using it. Better safe than sorry....

I think it's unfortunate that some people have to drone on and on about their misfortune. I have found nothing but good advice and encouragement on this group... no one has purported themselves to be experts.. That being said I do find it easier to take information from successful people on here than people who have a hard time understanding the rules.. I don't think everyone who has had problems is at fault but I do think there is a fair percentage just like anything else that like to place blame on anyone but themselves. so, my advice to you is to go to another board where you can whine and gripe... we've all seen and heard enough negativity and frankly it's tiresome.. so if you are happy then act like it and move on..

Hello all! I am a bit new to all this and I find this site rather helpful in helping me make my decision. I just wanted to hear honest experiences (good and bad) from everyone so I know what I am getting myself into. As with anything... everyone may have a different experience which is why I think this is a pretty good site.

If these things bother you so much, then why make yourself more aggravated by coming here and reading it. We all have had our times and our days of people in general getting on our nerves but for the most part those of us that have been banded for a long time certainly are not going to sit back and watch other fill their guts with pizza and cake three days post op and not say anything. Some people just need a swift kick once in a while.

We really don't mind hearing about bands not working, but when ppl start posting old out of date info and claiming it to be true, kinda gets under our skin.
Fact is there are a few complications , ask msmaui, that are no fault of the patient. But the majority of complications are from non compliance.
So if you want ppl to say, its ok, eat & drink whatever you want and as much as you want and the problems you are having with your band is the bands fault, not yours. That's just not going to happen.

One rule you left out is using a tracking app for food. Log every bite. It also will show you your nutrients and you can track exercise too!

Personally, I think that all points of view should be tolerated. How did we ever get out of the dark ages without someone standing up and voicing an unpopular opposing view? Many we're burned at the stake, stoned or even beheaded for going against the norm. 521 years ago, we still thought the earth was flat! 70 years ago people died from infections because we didn't have antibiotics! Treating our condition of obesity is one of the fastest evolving fields in medicine today. I'm all ears.

True...unfortunately there are people who will argue with the "Life Experiences which are more fact based"....it happens here on this forum all the time.....maybe people just refuse something could possibly be true....or they don't like their views being challenged by other peoples even if it is fact based upon personal experiences with successful outcomes....

My nutritionist told me that it takes years for the Mind to catch up to the realization that your thinner. I believe this totally because I pass the Mirror each day and can see the WL but I still Think and Feel FAT. You've done and awesome job!! The idea of talking to someone that understands eating disorders is a great idea..........Think about why you thought being thinner would make you happy, was it because you'd be able to do more? The hardest part with or without WL is LOVING who you are on the inside first..It's a TOUGH first step, but you did this, I know you can get past that. HUGGS

The doctors are favoring the band less not only because of the complications that previous studies have stated but because of the complications that they and other surgeons have experienced since banding people. And since the LB seems to have a higher rate of revision surgery that might be a deciding factor? JMHO
