Still on the Fence Should I take the jump?
I don't have RA but I do have Osteo which equates to PAIN!!! I like you have tried many a diet and I have lost the weight to only gain it back and then some. I chose the lapband because I wanted to help ease the pain of my aching bones due to the osteo which my weight contributed to it in the first place. Since I have lost 71 pounds, I am no longer on any of the arthritis medications. I take nothing. I do still have pains everyday but nothing like I did when I was 71 pounds heavier. This decision was the best thing for me to do and you have to decide if this is the best thing for "your" body, not your doctors. I love my thinner self the one I thought I would never see again since my high school days. Good luck with your decision. I hope we are helping you to decide.

What a Downer.......
I was thinking the same thing. I also didn't take it to be a downer either. I guess we all see information differently. Hmmm.....

Eat Every 2-3 Hrs So I Dont Get Hungry...Huh??
I was not told that, but in regards to fills, if you are eating more than a cup to two cups of food per meal, then that is eating way too much which will result in one needing a fill. However, if you are still eating the alotted 4oz of food, then that is probably why they felt you were still restricted. Good luck with your continued weight loss.

It was diagnosed by another one of my doctors on ultra sound. I was having upper abdominal problems. It felt as though I couldn't breath anymore. I could hardly eat as well. I was miserable until after my surgery.

True Results houston - share your experience
Congratulations to all of you. I have been a True Results patient since December 2010. I LOVE the staff. Dr. Ken Hollis did my surgery. I like CM77539 had the hernia repair and then the lapband was clamped on. Yeah baby!!!!!!! I love the new changes to the office. Seems like every month I go something is different for the better for our services. I will be seeing them next week for my monthly check up and fill. Definitely ask questions because this is your body and your journey. They will answer you and are very nice and cordial. They want you and the band to work. They are your friends not your enemies. Use them. LOL Good luck all.

Port side question
It is unfortunately a pain that will subside but will come back from time to time. I have been banded for over two years now and still feel pain in my port area. It's okay to touch if you feel it will help. At this early stage in your progression to weight loss, I would use an ice pack to help with the pain. You will be fine. Don't worry. It is a normal feeling. Good luck.

Awesome that you came out of the closet! Congratulations on doing you.

Overdid it today!
Another suggestion if this hasn't happened already, why don't you have your wife go with you to your post op appointment. That way she will be totally in the loop about what you are going through and what you are and will be feeling for months to come. As everyone else has said, take it is, you're not superman although no one is, walk a lot and take the Gas X strips. Congratulations on the new you.

Yeah I have reached 1 week of being banded now for thicker liquids!!!
Awesome! Hang in there.

I felt like i didnt lose a lot yet
This is an interesting concept. I never thought of my weight loss as losing a child. Anyway, you're doing great. Keep up the good work.

Plateaued for 4 months now
Well good luck!

Vomiting
I second that emotion. You should not be vomiting after eating. Something is not right.

The place that I feel full has changed....after almost 2 years!
That's weird. I have never heard of this before. I have always felt full/satisfied etc. in my abdominal area. If you are feeling full further up, it sounds to me as though your food isn't going down as it should. Do you think your band is too tight thus preventing your food to go down properly?

Drinking by meals ? Solid Versus Liquid -- Satiety Study in Well-Adjusted Lap-Band Patients
I too was told not to drink with my meals but found that if I didn't, my food wasn't passing through within the alotted minute and therefore when I chewed for a minute or longer as instructed, my food was feeling stuck. So I chose to start sipping water and found that worked. Sometimes some meats like chicken depending on how it's cooked or beef meat, I may have to take larger amounts of water to help flush it down. I have not noticed that I'm fuller with or without drinking water with my meals.
