Some examples of soft solids
For me, soft solids was things like cottage cheese, greek yogurt, Beans, humus, avocados, oatmeal, etc. Did the nutritionist at your doctor's office give you a list? I got a diet progression, which included a list of what could be eaten when I reached different phases.

Kinda excited, Really nervous
ALL normal stuff! And congrats on the surgery date My own feeling about telling people is, don't. For now, try & just tell the most significant people in your life; your mom, best friend, boyfriend, etc. Right now, it's important that you take care of yourself, without having to explain it, or deal with the opinions of others. And if you choose to tell casual people in your world (co-workers, etc.) there will be opinions. The other thing is that people will start to watch what you eat. I don't know about you, but the last thing I want to deal with, is people watching what I do. This is hard enough as it is, without having to deal with "all eyes on you". Again.....just my personal feeling. There have been MANY posts on this same subject, and many were sorry that they told a lot of people. You have to decide what feels good for you. Can you deal with negativity on this huge decision you've made? Are you the type that can let the judgement of others roll off your back? I've had moments where I was so excited about this, I just wanted to blurt it out. But then I'd hold back. Little by little, I've become less concerned about what anyone else thinks. But even still, my biggest fear is failure. It's not my plan to fail, but if I do, I certainly don't want to deal with the scrutiny of others. Just something to think about. I wish you all the best with your upcoming surgery. It's a very exciting, life changing time!

No weight loss????
Are you still on liquids, or are you on mushy/soft foods?

Banded yesterday has not been easy
So sorry that you're having a difficult time. But I assure you......it WILL pass! Are they giving you anything for the pain? I had Lortab (liquid Vicodin) and it saved me. Walking is excellent, but sometimes in the beginning you need the pain meds. I hope you feel better soon. Please don't doubt your decision to have this surgery. You've just had a major assault to your body, and it's going to take time to heal. I know it's hard, but in a few days things will look and feel very different. In the beginning, it's a roller coaster ride..... But things do settle down, and I think you'll be jumping for joy when you see the numbers on the scale dropping. Try & keep your eye on the big picture

Question about fill
Seems to me that you shouldn't have to wait three weeks for a fill. Don't they answer the phone? My suggestion.....KEEP calling. When I've needed a fill, I never waited more than 2-3 days. One day (luck of the draw), they got me in the same day. Keep trying! As they say..... "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" (so to speak). Good luck. I know how frustrated you must feel.

lawn mower
I like ALL of the "silly successes". These are things most of us totally get, and it's good to take notice of the little things......that aren't really "little". This is silly, but I'm sure many can relate.... At my client's office, I sit in a Herman Miller chair. The arms move in and out, and as soon as I sit down, I've always had to push the arms outward......to accommodate my wideness. Yesterday when I was there, I noticed as I was leaving, that I hadn't moved the arms out. I looked back at the chair & thought...WOW. I would always move the arms back into their normal position, because I was humiliated that I couldn't fit comfortably with the arms going straight forward. A small thing, but certainly a victory CG - keep'em coming! I love these things

Day 2 after LB
Congrats on your surgery - welcome to the other side Some of the pains you mention can be related to the way they positioned your body during the surgery. Like.....neck and possibly some back pain. Aside from my actual surgical pain, my neck and lower back were really bad for a good week. Regarding the use of Advil......did your doctor say this was okay? Most all of us were instructed to stop taking any type of NSAID; aspirin, Advil, Aleve, etc. Tylenol is fine, but the Advil can be an issue.

UPDATE to: I am in desperate need of Motivation
GREAT - so glad to hear it!

Stuck at first bite!
I read this same suggestion by a bariatric doctor on another site. I don't remember if he said sip something warm, but he said it tends to "prime the pump" for people with this issue.

Bandster hell
Based on what you're saying, I guess I'm confused by your original post. Why would you wish for the sleeve, when you're not hungry, and have to force yourself to eat? Fast food isn't the best choice, but if you portion it & account for it, then you're not doing as badly as you think. By your original post, it sounded like you were eating a bit out of control....like, super sizing your meals at the drive through. If you're not hungry, the band is doing it's job. What is it that you think the sleeve will do, that the band isn't?

Question about fill
I've heard all different prices on that come through this forum. The best thing you can do is call your doctor's office & find out what they charge

Every commercial on TV id about food
When I was on liquids....one night my husband came home and practically inhaled his dinner. He was starving, and I looked at him said "you're eating like an animal!". Honestly, I was SO annoyed, and the sound of him chewing made my skin crawl. I think that was my worst.....

Bandster hell
It sounds like you've lost your motivation. The sleeve won't fix that. You will need to do the work with all of these surgeries, and looking toward the sleeve is a bit of a cop out. I'm not saying that I don't understand the frustration and the drive to eat bad things. But you've only been banded a short time, and it doesn't sound like you've given it enough of a chance.....before throwing your arms up saying that you should have gone with the sleeve. NONE of these surgeries do the work for you. Hell, I wish they did!! It's hard.......I get it. I agree with bindi above..... shake it off and move forward. And try & get in touch with why you're trying to sabotage the surgery. Mellstav - we all have times when we veer off the path. It's frustrating, and it's scary. Given our past with food, we never know if a little step off the path, is going to be a 1000 mile trip off the path. I've had my moments as well, but every morning you wake up is a new day. Maybe go into your doctor's office & meet with the nutritionist. And if you need a fill, maybe that would help. But only you can take care of your mindset. Good luck....

Keys to success with Lap Band
I agree with the above.... Follow the eating plan prescribed by your doctor, and pay very close attention to the band signals. Stop eating at the first sign of satiety. It's so easy to go brain dead when eating, but the key to the band is to pay attention to what it's telling you. If you do that, you will be able to stick to smaller portions, and if you choose the right foods, stay satisfied for a few hours.

Finally????
Fabulous! Good job

Question
I wasn't limited during that phase, either. But the key is, do not eat if you're not hungry. Even if it's only a sugar free popsicle.

How to stay on track when you can't excerise....
If your spine surgeon didn't prescribe physical therapy, maybe you could ask him to. They will know exactly how to work with your limitations, and the movement will help. I'm in line for disc repair surgery, and I have no idea what to expect. But I'll just focus on the outcome being less pain! I hear mixed reviews. Feel better..... PS: YES, and as Mis said......count your calories diligently. And if you're mobile, get out of the house for awhile when you feel like eating. Easier said than done, I know

mis73?
Horrible! I feel for you..... But I'm really glad that you're on the mend, and that the excess Water is coming out. As I said prior, I really hope that this is the worst possible thing you ever have to go through. Such an ordeal......really scary stuff

mis73?
When I had my surgery, they gave me shots of heparin in my stomach; one before surgery, and more (I don't recall the intervals......possibly every 8-12 hours) during my stay in the hospital. This was to avoid possible clots. The worst bruising I had was from those shots. Like someone spilled a bottle of blue/purple ink.

Avascular Necrosis
Thanks..... I have an epidural scheduled in a couple of weeks, so hopefully I'll get a break. I've had them before; they don't last very long (relatively speaking), but I'll take what I can get! Please let me know the outcome. I'm interested to hear. Good luck - hang in there......
