I'm being banded first thing tomorrow!! Yikes!!!

My update: I was banded first thing this morning so I'm only around 6 hours out. They repaired my hernia too. I have been home for almost 5 hours. I'm only a little sore. Mostly at the port site. But the pillow helps that when coughing and moving. And I am keeping fingers crossed that I'm one of the lucky ones because I have had minimal gas pain so far. I have my gas ex and heating pad for the little bit that I do feel.

According to your profile, you're 5'2 which means your BMI is only 27. That is below the BMI requirements set by both Realize and Allergan, the makers of the most widely used gastric bands.
If any doctor would perform Lap Band surgery on someone with a BMI of 27, they're obviously only in it for the money and not someone I would trust with my laundry let alone my life.
Just my opinion.

Awanda, I don't know how much weight you lost with your lap band. I do know that I would NOT lost as much weight as I did with WW or any other diets. I will take the black eyes, loose skin over fat any day. All your responses are negative. If you are unhappy with your lap band, that is your issue. STOP spreading your poison on this site. We are here to provide support. Take your negativity somewhere else!!!

That is completely untrue. Most of us due reach the Green Zone and stay there.
The Lap Band doesn't "stretch out", it expands inward around the stomach. When we do need another fill after reaching the Green Zone it's because the fat layer around the stomach shrinks due to weight loss.

I think it's a study from 2006, thus totally outdated and irrelevant for people being banded currently.
Plus, that study is going to be largely based on the old 4cc band, which we already know had a high complication rate and is no longer used in the US or UK because of it.

Personally, I do not put a lot of stock in studies. By the way that article was published in 2006 and not only have surgical techniques have improved but so did patient education. There also have been newer and better revisions of the bands themselves put out by the manufacturer.
Don't take this personal but this type of post is the kind that will bring out the Anti-bandsters causing defensive backlash by pro bandsters. I am sure that is not your intent at all but I have seen these type of threads go south time and time again.

When you have less abdominal fat , you can actually go deeper during sex because the fat is no longer in the way. Your lower belly around your penis has undoubtedly gotten smaller, thus resulting in your penis looking and feeling larger to her.

Was banded November 28, and still no fill. I'm down 47 lbs and losing at a steady pace. It's been so hard, but also encouraging that I've been able to do this with no fill yet. Instead of hoping each time I see the surgeon he'll give me a fill...I'm now trying to see how long I can go without one. Motivated!!!

You guys are all lucky! Each insurance company has different plans for each employer to choose from. I work for UnitedHealth Group and have United insurance and my plan doesn't cover any bariatric services at all. Luckily, I also have a hiatal hernia. So the insurance will cover the actual surgery (after my horrible deductible) and I am having to pay myself for the band portion. I'm having it done with True Results and they are financing me.
