  1. I know there is a good group called Lap Band Divas. It's not local. There are people all over the world. But lots of people with good info.
  2. Sorry! I just saw this! I wasn't hungry at all for the first 4 or so days. Now I'm hungry. But it doesn't take too much before I feel full. I'm working on teaching my head to recognize when I'm satisfied, rather than just continuing to eat because it tastes good.
  3. I am 8 days postop. Had some jello as a snack before bed. Now I keep feeling like I need to clear my throat. Almost mucusy. Is that something because I ate too fast? Or reflux? Or just nothing?
  4. I also have preferred the chewables! They work great!
  5. I'm doing pretty well actually. I haven't had much gas pain at all so I'm thinking I'm a really lucky one. Not too uncomfortable anymore. Still a tad sore at the port site but not too bad. Having a hard time "eating" as much as I'm supposed to so far. Drinking is easy but I'm having to force myself to drink all my shakes. I'm just not feeling hungry all all.
  6. I live in the west valley but I also used True Results and Dr. Nirmul. He's very nice just not very chatty. Lol. The True Results office people are all really nice and the staff at Tempe New Day surgery center is great as well.
  7. I was banded on 3/7. Each day has gotten better and better. Hang in there!
  8. Wow! Really? Mine only said 24 hours and then obviously not when taking pain meds. There's no way I could go 10 days without driving. I'm a single mom. There's no one else to do the driving for me. I had a hard time even getting rides for my EGD and my surgery.
  9. Lol no. Wouldn't attempt that one. I will probably take some liquid Motrin but that's all.
  10. I'm post op day 3 right now. Drove for like 10 min to get the mail and pick something up from a friend. Yeah. That's not comfortable at all! Any tips to make it easier? I have to drive 45 min each way for something tomorrow. :/
  11. My update: I was banded first thing this morning so I'm only around 6 hours out. They repaired my hernia too. I have been home for almost 5 hours. I'm only a little sore. Mostly at the port site. But the pillow helps that when coughing and moving. And I am keeping fingers crossed that I'm one of the lucky ones because I have had minimal gas pain so far. I have my gas ex and heating pad for the little bit that I do feel. Yay! I'm official now!

  14. I'm being banded first thing tomorrow!! Yikes!!!
  15. I agree with the rushed feeling but I don't mind it. I went for my consult on 2/21 and I'm being banded 3/7 like a lot of you guys. I have been considering the band for years and had done my own research so I think that's why I don't mind the rush. The staff at TR is all really nice but I remember feeling a bit odd at my consult with how fast the assessment by the NP went. Kinda odd for major surgery. Had my preop appt today. The surgeon really isn't very chatty but as long as he knows what he's doing, no worries. The book they gave me at the consult and the stuff they gave me today at the preop appt is all good info so I'll have to keep it handy.
  16. You guys are all lucky! Each insurance company has different plans for each employer to choose from. I work for UnitedHealth Group and have United insurance and my plan doesn't cover any bariatric services at all. Luckily, I also have a hiatal hernia. So the insurance will cover the actual surgery (after my horrible deductible) and I am having to pay myself for the band portion. I'm having it done with True Results and they are financing me.
  17. I thought I deleted this thread but since it won't delete I thought I'd post again to say... Yay!!! I got my rides situated and all is well. EGD is still on for Monday and banding/hernia repair on Thursday.
  18. No. I have to have a responsible person present. Plus the can would cost a fortune. It's an hour drive each way, longer if there is traffic.
  19. So my ride for my EGD and surgery next week just had to back out. And I'm having issues finding someone else. Ugh!!!! I'm going to be so mad if I have to cancel over something so stupid as this!
