RebecaSparkles got a reaction from Cabingirl in College and Sleeves
I lived in the dorms freshmen year & we had 1minifridge w/ a non freezing freezer. So I wouldn't get too dependant on freezer meals until you get your living situation worked out. Our meal hall would allow you to use one swipe& get a togo box with a Soup cup that you could fill with whatever you wanted. I used to get sandwhich fixins & buy a loaf of bread & had lunch for a week. You should call down to the meal manager or maybe student health & find out ifthings you can eat are available on the meal plan. We had stations - stir fry, sandwhich, salad bar, Cereal bar, grill, and then an entree that changed daily.
I urge you to visit campus before you move in & actually walk the walk- how far is the grocery store, how far is a safe eat out option, does campus have vending machines with Snacks you can eat? Do you have parking, taking a car? Etc...
I reccomend taking at least a supply of safe non perishable foodstuffs that you can fall back on if your local store there doesn't have your preferred brands/foods. Like: tuna packets, Protein powders, rtd shakes, the packets of indian food are usually pretty healthy at trader joes & they have veggies too.
Good luck!

Lets be honest here.
I was really there for the cajun fries.
The burgers are good, but I'm a recovering fry gal.
To eat only 6, and only after my Protein was a major victory for me.
Yes, 800 cal is high but I'm ok w/ that.

RebecaSparkles got a reaction from Kindle in Pita chips and hummus
I've eaten them. They are yummy.
But, as you know, hummus doesn't have much Protein per tbs. Sabra brand has 2tbs of hummus for 2g Protein. Not the best choice. You can have this be part of your day if you plan ahead & do a Protein shake etc.
That said, I do hummus, chicken kabob chunks & a few pita chips like 3 of the Stacey's garlic parm. And I'm done. I got the best of both worlds, ended up w/ 1.5 oz chicken and 2 oz of hummus. Yes!!!
I dislike Protein shakes so I try to eat my protein rather than eat low protein & do shakes. Either way works, just gotta feel it out.

RebecaSparkles got a reaction from gamergirl in My Lunch: A Pictorial Attempt To Show You Life Will Be Normal
Had 5 guys-bacon cheeseburger and cajun fries.
I am one who didn't have this surgery to give up my fav's.
So, I had the patty, cheese, bacon, grilled onions and like 6 fries w/ vinegar.
I threw out the bun minus 1small nibble.
I did not finish the whole patty. At 2 bites left I gave up bc afraid to over eat.
And yes, I did put it in mfp.

Misty, feedback is a gift.... even frustrated, annoyed feedback. Far better than just walking away.
And somebody got paid for this rollout, and his/her employers need to know the awful customer experience that was delivered.

RebecaSparkles reacted to Butterthebean in Bridging The Gap
Wow first post in the new sub forum.
Hey fellow WLS victims....erm.....I mean patients. Butter here....sleever and dispenser of wit and sarcasm and occasional in your face advice. Welcome to the new gigantic all encompassing WLS forum. I for one was a little apprehensive about it, as I thought VST was big enough. Now we're all together...bandsters, bypass patients, sleevers....everyone.
So since we're all together now, let's embrace the new dynamic and start bridging the gaps right now...rather than have any "us vs them" barriers. After all, every one of us has the same goals...improved health, weight loss, better quality of life. Our surgeries may be different, but we all recognized that we needed surgical intervention to get there....to save our own lives. In a way, that sets us apart from the mainstream in alot of people's eyes. And I don't know exactly what we should do about that....or even of there is anything to be done to make WLS more socially acceptable. But the least we can do is accept each other...surgical differences not withstanding.
After all...if you don't like me, well so be it. There are plenty of reasons not to. But don't let it be because I'm a sleever.
Ok....end of morning rambling.

RebecaSparkles got a reaction from TxCalico in Am I "Too Young" To Get The Sleeve?
Do it!!! No you're not too you. You are just right. Young enough the skin will hopefully shrink, not too big yet, healthy enough you'll bounce back quick.
I was 28 when I had mine- but only bc of insurance & $.
I regret spending so many years being fat. I lost all my friends over time bc i was so big I was no fun.
