  1. So sorry to hear about your loss. Great job getting back to the gym. I think a lot of us are used to dealing with stress by eating. You turned to exercise to alleviate your stress today. That's a great turnaround! I want to be like you when I grow up! :)


  2. Amy you seem like a sensitive, kind soul. More importantly, you seem like a very strong young woman. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't understand what it's like to be overweight, or depressed. When you can, expand your support system. There are people out there that will be sensitive to your needs. In the meantime, take good care of yourself.


  3. I think there's a complicated history of hair care and black women. Have you seen the documentary "Good Hair" by Chris Rock? It's a very funny, but accurate portrayal of African-American women and the hair care industry. I began wearing my hair naturally (partially) due to having extreme night-sweats. I'd roll my hair at night, only to have soaking wet hair in the morning. And while I love wearing my hair naturally, there are many African-American who would never consider doing so. Seems like self-esteem issues are connected to hair... A little more complicated than it appears, I think,
