Djstola reacted to cindymg in My husband is killing me!
Here's what I do: you know that 90% of the enjoyment in food is actually in the smell. That's why people who lose their sense of smell get really thin, because they can't smell food anymore.
When I gave up sugar years ago, I learned that just because something smells good, doesn't mean I have to stuff it in my face. I learned to bask in the smell, roll around in it, and get my enjoyment from that.
I have lovely memories of brownies, Cookies, cakes. I think of them like an old lover. It was fun while it lasted, but I certainly don't want it inside me again!

Djstola got a reaction from TwinsMama in Buyers remorse anyone?
At three weeks I was miserable. At six weeks I was feeling better. At ten weeks now and I feel MUCH better. Still miss eating a normal meal. But, my biggest complaint now is hiccups and some Constipation. At three weeks I had MANY complaints including nausea weakness stomach pain etc.
IT DOES GET BETTER. Hang in there

Djstola got a reaction from oldskoolsooz in May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
There is something good about finding others in the same boat. I really thought I was doing something wrong. Knowing I'm not alone in my struggle helps so much. The weight WILL come off...I guess it will just take some of us longer.
It will give our skin more time to spring back!
We didn't gain 100 lbs in a month so we can't expect to lose it that fast
Our blood pressure won't drop so dramatically that we pass out in public
Lots of positives...lol. I really am happy I'm not alone.

Djstola got a reaction from TexasRed1978 in Buyers remorse anyone?
I had remorse for about the first 6 weeks. I still hate not being able to just eat a normal meal. I am 2 months post op and havent figured it out yet. I'm losing slowly and hit a stall at the 3-4 week mark. Still don't know how to handle social situations or going out to eat. BUT I am only two months into this.
My advice, give yourself lots of time and be patient. Honestly, I think some, or even a lot, of my regret has to do with my inability to conquer the weight loss on my own without using such a drastic tool. I was embarrassed by my weight and am embarrassed I had to have this surgery.
Guess I'm my own worst enemy...which is how I got obese in the first place!

Djstola got a reaction from Ms skinniness in NEED HELP ON GETTING PROTEIN..
Try a different brand either premier protien, syntax nectar or injury.
I made smoothies with Greek yogurt and peach nectar and some frozen peaches.
My other week 1 and 2 trick was chicken broth with unflavored (syntax nectar) Protein.
It gets easier...but it might take 4-6 weeks. Your tummy is swollen and needs to heal.
I also had to take Previcid twice a day...still take it in the morning at two months post-op. the first four weeks were brutal for me
But now it's finally good.
Good luck and keep asking for ideas...we've all been there:)

Djstola reacted to Ms.AntiBand in The 5:2 diet
I'm done with diets. I swore off diets.. out of my life for good and I'm officially a member of dieters anonymous. My body has suffered enough abuse over the years. It's eat healthy w/excercise all the way or it just wasn't meant to be.
Lol.. Ok, sorry, carrying on ( I just hate the word diet)

Djstola got a reaction from Brenda0928 in Where the May sleevers i just got my date!
I put it in some homemade Soup I made...just have to be careful it's not too hot or it gets clumpy and gross. I mix it in chicken stock especially the first few weeks. It has no flavor at all. Comes with a scoop, but smaller than the other nectar scoops. One scoop is 1/2 the normal nectar scoop. When I make smoothies with fruit I use half unflavored and half flavored nectar because I want to taste the fruit.
You could add it to Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, applesauce, almond or soy milk or regular (I seem to be having lactose issues.)
I use the unflavored to give me the needed protein when I'm eating "regular" food.< /p>
It is lumpy sometimes, but no flavor at all.

Djstola reacted to newat52 in Dunkin' Donuts is my Postop Friend?!
Yes, whodda thunk it? Some of the places you would think would be post op suicide can actually be some of our best friends!
Starbucks for example, they have a egg white, spinach and feta breakfast wrap. Un wrap it from the tortilla and you have Protein nirvana! Yummy too!
McDonalds, grilled chicken ceasar salad, same exact salad, every time, every place down to the 4, yes exactly 4 cherry tomatoes. Great lunch, I eat the chicken and .5 oz of shredded parm, the 4, exactly 4 tomatoes and I am good to go.
Did I mention, they have 4, exactly 4 of those little cherry tomatoes in every grilled chicken ceasar salad, every day in every McDonalds? I think I want the job of Tomato quality inspector for them. I can count to 4!
I guess it goes to show if we look just a little, healthy stuff have been among us for sometime.

This thread is one of the best things about this forum. Those that are unsure and frustrated can turn to others and get supported and reassured :-) As per doctors orders I was on a diet then the 2 week pre-op diet (April 1st till surgery). I was sleeved on May 1st. I lost 10 lbs in April and 10 in May. From the third week in May till now I haven't lost a single pound! I'm eating 800-950 calories, doing so-so on Protein, less than good on Water, walking everyday..it's so frustrating! I'm doing everything right according to the nutritionist and surgeon and they both patted my hand and said I will lose the weight but..sigh..wth? Reading about others whose weight is just flying off is now making me heavy hearted so it's good to hear I'm not alone! I'm trying to remain positive and appreciate everyone whose idea of support is sharing their story and remaining POSITIVE despite the frustration :-) thx! Those that are negative I'll just try harder to ignore

Djstola got a reaction from KristyNicole in The easy route
Omg! I am 3 weeks post op and there has been nothing easy about this. I'm not even loosing weight as fast as others. 11 lbs in 3 weeks...25 total. But I'm loosing. This is the hardest "diet" I have ever been on. I don't tell people I had the surgery for the reasons you listed above. We've all lost 45 lbs before...just didn't keep it off. I've lost count of how many lbs I've lost. Those people are not your friends.
Ask them why they think having someone cut out 80% of your stomach, going liquid diet for 4-6 weeks, soft mushy foods, reflux, lactose intolerance, Constipation and diarrhea, bad breath, low energy, is "the easy way?" What exactly are they doing that is more difficult than all of that???
